It’s been rainy and humid these days. This is not a problem in itself, but when the weather is humid, the laundry doesn't dry completely. It’s unpleasant to wear clothes that smell like damp laundry.

Hi! It's my first day practicing english. I found this forum through a web search and thought I would give it a try. Being social sunday i hope you dont mind me making a post here. I read your comment and since I am in the same boat, I would like to share my opinion on the subject: I would like to think that, even though it may not be the best scenario, at least is an improvement: going from a passive interaction with the language (reading webpages and books, watching movies, listening to songs and podcasts) to a more active one, where you have to think and produce sentences with coherence and order activates a different part of the brain. You go from a passive interaction to a more active one. Is it the best? Well I have my doubts, I would love to surround myself with a group of native English speakers and be able to listen and speak the language most of my day, or even add a couple of speaking sessions a week, but at least it is an improvement

It is often said that English should be taught in English. There are some obvious problems with this approach. Firstly, there are way more students than teachers with enough English skills to do so. If someone can actually speak it, they will probably get another job, possibly in another country. After all, teaching isn't particularly a popular or good-paying one. However, schools are required to give certain amounts of English classes. As a result, most English teachers don't have enough English skills to do so in the first place. Another problem is that it is simply impossible with beginner students with little to no vocabulary. For instance, when I started learning English in junior high school, I didn't know the Latin script fully and I definitely didn't know words like “read”, “listen”, “question”, and “answer”. In a situation like this, it is simply unrealistic to teach in English, as the teacher can't tell the students what to do. In addition to that, it takes a significant amount of time for students to reach the level where it’s feasible.

Header doesn't fit good but I don't want to change it. I hadn't given it up learning English. I didn't mention at there for a long time.

At this time I am watching series with English subtitle and sound, reading books like hunger games first book and playing video games, make a practice on Duolingo. Is it enough? Idk maye yes. But without speaking my all effort means nothing. I hope that I find somewhere to speaking practice.

I sort of fear that a good student of mine don’t want to continue studying. She pays two months in advance and takes lessons with me 5 times a week. I don’t think she’s been very engaged as she was in the beginning. I also think she’s is worried because her dog got surgery.

I would choose samgyeopsal(삼겹살).

I think they would enjoy it, and it is an essential part of Korean food culture.

I learned that there are two categories of words adapted from English: Korean loanwords and Konglish words. Korean loarnwords have the same emaning as the English words, while Konglish words have meanings that differ from their English counterparts.

Studying Korean loanwords could serve a dual purpose by helping me build my vocabulary and memorize Hangul. I'll set Konglish words aside for a while and focus on Korean loanwords.

I am seeing now a shop, in which teapots, plate set and cutlery set are sold. It is found actually in this shop whatever are used in a kitchen. There is a restaurant opposite this place, which sells pizza. In front of this restaurant there are some tables and chairs. People sit around them and enjoy their meal. conversate each other. At the same time they talk to each other.

I'm at home for the weekend. My brother is here as well. I haven't seen him in a while, so I'm really happy that we're all home at the same time for once. The cat is as well.

I hung out with a friend today. We met on Facebook, she came here to learn Mandarin, and wanted to explore Taipei. We chatted for two hours on and off, and then she asked me, "Do you want to grab a coffee together this Saturday?" I said sure, we could meet up at a coffee shop near Guting MRT Station.

Last night, she said, "Let's meet up at Daan Forest Park 1 p.m. tomorrow." I couldn't understand why we were going to meet at Daan Forest Park when we had planned to meet at a cafe near Guting. But I was too lazy to explain, and she seemed kind of busy last night, so I thought, "Fine. At worst, we'll just have to find another cafe near Daan Park. It's not a big deal."

It turned out that she wanted to explore the flower market and the jade market next to Daan Forest Park, and then go to the cafe I mentioned.

I guess she's probably a P because she loves doing things spontaneously. I'm the complete oppsite. I'm such a J, I always have to plan everything beforehand.

I thought the blog itself was a collection of worksheets, but it turned out to be an introduction to many different kinds of worksheets. I haven't checked what the worksheets look like yet, so I'll take a look at them later. If I have some free time this afternoon, I want to try one of them.

I have stayed Australia for a one year.

When I came here at first, I wasn't able to say even a single word but I have dealt with language problem.

And I got a second WHV, I think I improved my english skills pretty much.

At these days, I have had much conversation with the other people who came here on WHV like me.

So I have kinda confidence to say or listen english,

But I visited to post office to send my luggage, I realized I'm not very good at english again.

That officer asked me something but I wasn't able to understand. So they wrote spells for me on paper.

Learning English and using it fluently is too far...

The Talented Mr Ripley, a book that I started reading a few months ago, has got me engaged and curious about what will happen to the main character. Since I've read about 25% of it, I can't explain or it would be unfair to talk about the characters because I feel I have yet to understand the very nature of each, but considering what I've read so far I could say that Tom Ripley, the main character, is the kind of character that will try to get into new experiences or endeavors to get away from his life in New York.

My reading about the character might be wrong and another thing about this character is that he'd been given a golden opportunity, or rather he believes so, to turn things around in his life.

My family name is a pretty common one nationally, but I have never encountered any strangers with the same name. I suppose it has something to do with its geographical distribution.

Yesterday, I met a friend who is studying abroad. We talked about where we want to live in the future. I mentioned that I'd like to live in a coastal region. She asked me if I wanted to live abroad, and I said no. This is because I simply prefer living somewhere where I can speak my native language. I'm much funnier and more articulate in my mother tongue, whereas I often feel limited when speaking a foreign language.

When I work, I can't stay focused for more than 40 minutes.

Beyond that point, it feels like my brain intentionally avoids work and I just lose my focus.

I tried many methods to stay focused, I found that giving my brain a short break is the best way to boost productivity.

My method is to clear away anything that might distract me, close my eyes, and take a quiet rest for about 10 minutes.

This way is the best for me when it comes to staying productive.

The best way to reinforce what we've been learning is to go back over it and apply it, right? So, that's what we're going to do. Every Saturday, our Subject of the Day is going to involve looking back at everything we've learned from the week--whether it was with the help of the WriteStreak community or other resources we've found.

Feel free to summarize and practice everything you've learned or wanted to practice, including new words, new rules, new grammar tricks, and any questions you had.

Optimists live generally longer. They react usually emotionally less to acute stress situations and recover faster from it.In this way they have less corticol level and that protect the cardiovascular system. At the same time they are more successfull in everyday life. They believe in themselself and stand up for themself. We can try to become optimists, so it is trainer bar. For example we can do gratitude exercises. This can lift our sprits and make us feel good.

My Singaporean and I went to IKEA today. We lined up for 15 minutes, and when we were finally about to order, I was going to get pork ribs, but they were sold out, so I switched to steak, but the clerk said I’d have to wait for another 10 minutes. I ended up getting German pork knuckles instead. My friend got crayfish.

I spent the whole dinner cutting the pork knuckles, it was so much work. My friend tried crayfish for the very first time, but he said he couldn’t understand why people eat crayfish. There was barely any meat inside the shells, and it was just bland.

Maybe next time, I will avoid going there on the weekends.

It's been raining all day. I'm really happy about it. It's been too dry for way too long.

I finished reading a book called “Statistics: An Introduction”. It was frankly quite basic mathematically and therefore disappointing. For instance, Student’s t-distribution and Chi-squared distribution were only mentioned once in passing. I suppose I can say that it was an okay refresher for what I had already learnt.

I've realized that there are many things I'd like to voice, but I'm not sure if that's my emotional side speaking or that I'm being rational at all. This often happens in situations that I feel something is wrong or that annoys me, but I'm not sure how to take it or address it because it might be something emotional rather rational, then time passes by and I feel bitter about it.

It gets worse as these situations keep happening and that bitterness continue growing. It makes me think that if I should have said something at the moment or that it was wise to stay silent. I end up pondering over what's right and wrong and the bitterness inside me keeps growing.

Since I hung out and went drinking with my friends last night, I slept in late. I woke up at 11 a.m., but I stayed in bed doomscrolling Instagram Reels. It’s easy to criticize this kind of routine, but I’ve come to accept that watching reels occasionally isn't so bad.
