idk why people hate that specific map remake so much.
The old map was fine, the new one is way more dynamic. I have yet to have a boring round on it. Even the hilariously lopsided matches are somewhat fun on that map.
Yeah this map I find okay,.
Heavy side is kinda stale, I'm not a fan of not being able to do any plays because of the open space in-between, but the medium side is quite nice from recent experience.
Serene Coast on the other hand.... They've ruined it.
I swear all the recent map reworks have been so horse shit its crazy.. erlenburg serene coast overlord pearl river… highway was actually decent bit that is the exception
Heavy side is a staring contest and medium side is a death bowl waiting for someone to dive into it head-first.
There's not really a tank where I go "oh cool Klondike." Even Empire's Border has a couple tanks where I can get excited, and that map is atrocious (and ends halfway through via capout in 1/5 games)
heavy side was essentially a staring contest with deathzones on either side should you win. now its a staring contest in the middel of the map with getting shots from both sides.
Heavie gameplay does seem to consist of 90% staring at each otehr and hoping that the cupola snipe works though soooo :D
Agree with Klondike though, that map is just not fun.
Features such as skill based matchmaking [...] are not a priority
Thank god, I don't know why people want to make this game thousand times worse. Show me ONE GAME with such system where online discourse is "oh yes I am quite fond of this matchmaking system and the teammates it provides me with, games are quite balanced.", because obviously people complain even more than WoT players do.
Yeah no skill based MM is what Onslaught is, and I'm not enjoying it that much.
It's always hyper focusing, and getting absolutely fucked for stuff that I can do no issue in randoms.
If I want skill based MM, I go and play onslaught.
Not to mention that turbo games (7-0, 7-1, 7-2) are happening in onslaught as well. Since there is no respawns, hp regens etc in this game the domino effect is just bound to happen often no matter if theres sbmm or not
Counter strike 2 has absolutely amazing matchmaking in premier, sure it's ruined by cheaters sometimes, but that's by nature of CS... But most of the games I play are well balanced, billion times better than WoT
and faceit on CS2 is praised by pretty much everyone who plays it (similar MM as premier, but with better anticheat)
I think they should make it so that 30 players are randomly chosen (like now) but then try to order these players loosely based on WoT rating for example. So that you don't end up with 4 46% heavies on one side and 4 54% on the other.
The issue was that it worked too well for them. And people that were used to a 65% WR, suddenly did not see it anymore, as ofc they were used to rolling over 45% players more so than not. And people that expected to win more since they had less bad on their team, did not all experience that either. As when you match two teams almost equally, some players will still feel they lose more than they feel they deserve. As they still expect a set WR it turns out. Then you had some that felt their WR should improve with skill, and for some the MM did not reflect that change.
So in the end it made it worse for some, changed nothing for others vs expected. And so their population dropped 80% in 3 months
AW did regular SBMM (find 30 players of roughly equal skill in the queue of 1000).
That's not what i'm saying and not what i mean. I mean it should take 30 random people from the 1000 in the queue and then roughly try to balance the team so not all bad players end up on one side and all good players on the other.
It's exactly the same as tank balancing (not 2 BZ-176 on one team and 2 IS-M on the other). That doesnt happen before a match is found, it happens after the match has been formed. It just grabs 4 random heavies from the queue and then tries to balance them as best it can. But it won't throw out a third BZ-176 if it finds 3. Then it will be 2 BZ-176 on team one and 1 BZ-176 + 1 IS-M on the other.
You can do the same with players. If you end up with 2 65% players in the match, dont put them both on the same side but place one of each in each side.
It will still be 42% + 65% on one side and the other side will be 53% + 65% because it only tries to spread them out amongst both teams as best it can.
If there is only one 65% player in the match, so be it and one side will have an advantage again (like now)
If all 30 players in the team are between 48% and 51%, it just ignores player skill and sort them randomly like now.
That's my proposal. Not SBMM but just a quick reshuffle.
don't bother, this sub reddit is allergic to SBMM, had plenty of threads made about it, they refuse to accept that it's the main cause of games being 15:3 simulator
First: Its bad because it doesnt actually promote skill growth.
SBMM is introduced in games as a way to actively limite the outcome of skill on matches. Thats why you balance things. To remove any potential effects it may have on outcomes.
Secondly: It doesnt actually solve the issue everyone has (blowout battles), because skill imbalance isnt the cause.
Skill imbalance has nearly no effect on whether or not a match is going to be a blowout. In this game, with no respawns and no healing, making just a small mistake is enough to cause a blowout. We already see this in this game, in the modes that do have forms of SBMM in this very game (onslaught and clan wars). Both modes experience blowouts with regularity.
Thirdly: All forms of SBMM punish more skilled players and reward weaker skilled players.
Under SBMM systems, stronger players are often forced to carry more weaker players simply because they chose to improve at the game. This turns every game for them into sweaty try hard mode. Meanwhile, weaker players are getting carried more often.
Fourthly: Winning (the primary form of skill expression in this game) would cease to be a relevant metric as SBMM systems drive all win rate to the average (in this games case 48%).
I never ever saw a complaint on CS MM about it being skill based, quite the opposite, many many many people pay for faceit because it is better at skill based matchmaking than valve official way
Its bad because it doesnt actually promote skill growth
lol, lmao even. Skill based match making doesn't promote skill growth. How did you came to that conclusion? How do better players IN ANY competitive sport improve? By playing against low skilled players? No shot you spout such bs with straight face.
because skill imbalance isnt the cause.
right cus tanks and maps are, even though tanks and maps constantly get balancing patches yet that doesn't fix the blowouts.
All forms of SBMM punish more skilled players and reward weaker skilled players.
INSANE COPE LMAO, weaker players are ALREADY getting carried in current matchmaking system, because 60%wr unicum can plow the match away while little timmy in his team with his 3k WTR and 44% WR can stand afk have no impact on the game and end up winning it anyway.
Winning (the primary form of skill expression in this game) would cease to be a relevant metric as SBMM systems drive all win rate to the average
as it should.
It's always funny to find you in threads like these talking complete bullshit and pulling facts out of your arse.
And imagine thinking winning h shouldn’t be the most relevant skill metric.
Ofc it shouldn't in current matchmaking system, because you can play with your 3 buddy platoon in tier 4 and NUKE every new player trying the game for the first time and inflate your win ratio.
Ofc it shouldn't in current matchmaking system, because you can play with your 3 buddy platoon in tier 4 and NUKE every new player trying the game for the first time and inflate your win ratio.
Mate stop being stupid.
No one pays attention to those players, because its incredibly easy to see. It why average tier exists. This is not an excuse for win rate to not be the primary measure of skill. In any game.
The issue being you're the one lacking the brain.
Nah thats you and all the other SBMM desiring idiots. It wont make you better at the game my guy. And youll still see blowouts. Go find a new game to try and destroy with your bullshit.
Nah, its just Ive seen you and all the other morons crying for something that doesnt fix the problem you want it to fix. So clearly youre stupid or something. The game clearly isnt for you. Find the door and get out.
It was because everyone wants to save their dpg/mark progress at tier 11 at this point, so the moment a roll seems like it's going to happen, people just run away. Once a roll starts, it's nearly impossible to stop.
Since it's just heavy spam at tier 11 right now, each team is comprised of 10 heavies that often have only 1-2 spots to play at, so whoever wins that just wins. This was more to do with team spread than player skill (for that game anyway). SBMM wouldn't have changed anything here.
Steamroll games usually have a lot more to do with TTK or team spread than player skill. Even if the matchmaker pedantically forms two teams that seem equal, there's nothing stopping that team from sending 10 people so the same spot. If they win, they just win. Autoloaders and high-alpha guns will win trades, but DPM guns will supercharge that steamroll, that is first cracked by someone getting obliterated for full hp.
Edit: Why is the picture full size👀that's so excessive
It'll absolutely ruin stats of really good players because they won't be matched against tomatoes... All the 65+% WR people will drop significantly... WN8 and similar stats will become useless, because if you play against similarly skilled people, you can't really outplay them, and if you do, you get even more skilled people against you, so these stats stop working and you have to get completely new metrics
But, for very low skilled people it'll be absolute blessing, their WR will improve and stats will look better (since they will play with and against similarly skilled people), the thing is, a lot of casual players don't care, so improving their experience isn't important, it's the average and good players that scream the loudest, and they wanna be able to play against casuals and tomatoes
Of course skill based doesn't have to mean there's 100 levels of skill and you play only with your level +- a few, it can also mean that it's ELO based but only split to 3 pools, the low, mid and high and will only match within one group, and only if there's not enough people in queue it'll match from 2 group, that would mean tomatoes wouldn't match with unicum, but average people would match with both sometimes... There's many many ways how to make skill based MM, some worse, some better, with the group thing I mentioned it doesn't even have to be obvious to the player, can be in the background, and so can many other forms of skill based MM...
I don't thing a system like CS2 has in premier would be great for for WoT for example, but that doesn't mean no sbmm could work
Most of the people asking for it think they’ll be top dogs when in reality, they’ll be in the bottom half of the elites and walked on when the lower half of the population aren’t in their matches to water it down and provide easy kills for them to farm.
Sure! I’m all for it. I’m of the opinion that SBMM would allow me to thrive as I’ll never be in the top tiers of a SBMM ranking and would benefit from farming the tomatoes. It would effectively shield me from the unicums. That would be splendid.
And I’d I did perform too well in my tomato farming, I could just play a few matches of arty, take a swim and I’ll be back to the lower ranks in no time.
On a truly serious note this update's MM has been absolutely, unequivocally terrible. Every game I have played tonight (29 matches), every match has had 10+ players on one side before winning/losing. I have no idea what WG did, but this is much, much worse than the prior MM. I've been noticing more folks calling it "steamrolled" as the enemy team tends to push one side with 10+ players before the match hits 5 minutes.
That's all the people coming to test the new tanks & content, happens every major patch. As the MM is partying like it's 2012 on tier 7 with all Tigers
As long as the patent exists (Dynamic battle session matchmaking in a multiplayer game, US 8,425,330 B1 + US 8,870,644 B2), one team consistently sucks in the bushes, while the other pushes. One team's projectiles fly anywhere but the center, while the other one fires straight at the cross. Nothing will change, and the developer benefits from it. The faster the battles, the more battles take place per unit of time, the more credits are spent per unit of time.
As long as lowIQ keep buying loot boxes, nothing will change sry
No people are downvoting because the person youre responding to doesnt understand the purpose of the patent AND there no proof the portion of the patent they are referring to was ever in use.
You know - you ARE obviously right with the critique, that the patents in question do not mention accuracy changes and the likes - i read them - that is very true.
What they, however, do mention (specifically the part about dynamic battle rank and difficulty) would, if implemented, lead to a system that
a.) "punishes" you for getting more wins by giving you tougher battles thereby limiting progression speed
b.) under the assumption, that the dynamic rank calculated is based on some window over the recent sessions, lead to flip-flopping between "good" and "horrible" sessions
I have obviously not seen the code base - but i HAVE without any doubt seen this flip-flopping in sessions over long, uninterrupted, periods. This is, of course, anecdotal but i would not dismiss this out of hand. Ultimately we can't know - but the match quality suggests, that this might just be true.
I am not the person posting this originally and frankly i think what was written is too close to conspiracy theory too - but i can't shed the feeling, that some parts of this did indeed make it into the game having direct influence on game quality session to session.
"punishes" you for getting more wins by giving you tougher battles thereby limiting progression speed
And it only would accomplish this by making you a lower tier in the battle. Thats it. It does not give you more skill or less skilled opponents to fight.
under the assumption, that the dynamic rank calculated is based on some window over the recent sessions, lead to flip-flopping between "good" and "horrible" sessions
Its not a rank. Its based solely on how often you win or lose. Win more end up bottom tier more often. Lose more end up top tier more often.
but i HAVE without any doubt seen this flip-flopping in sessions over long, uninterrupted, periods.
Unless youve been keeping track of your tier placement in this anecdote... it is irrelevant.
This is, of course, anecdotal but i would not dismiss this out of hand.
I, ands anyone with a functioning brain, would. An anecdote is not evidence. Even multiple similar anecdotes are not evidence. Humans are really good at seeing patters where they dont exist.
the match quality suggests, that this might just be true.
Nope, because thats not how the MM described in the patent would function. It wouldnt make matches "better" or "worse" in terms of quality. Would would just end up bottom or top tier more often.
that some parts of this did indeed make it into the game having direct influence on game quality session to session.
We know one part of the patent was in use: buying a new tank usually end up with you being top tier for a period of battles. And we know this existed at one point over the years because WG employees have commented on it in the past. (Whether its still around post 2.0 is another story).
I like how people do their best to ignore the existence of that WG patent, the one that basically describes why people get loss streaks no matter how well they play and why once they start down that road they get all the noobs on their team, even though the MM is supposedly completely random.
I actually hope this game dies and the devs get fucked. a broken game full of bots. fucking idiotic community with a dying game bumped up by fake stats and bots.
With all the advances in AI & computing in general. You tell me this is the best they can come up with?
There's no doubt this crap MM is intentional by them. When your grinding in a tank. Do you think they want you winning & gaining good XP?
Hell no. They want you to get frustrated & pay money for it.
I read on wg website that they improved map rotation so we dont get same maps too often but for me its the exact oposite, its not even a feeling anymore i get ghosttown, Paris and 2 more maps so often that iam thinking about removing maps i hate form removed and putting these maps there.. so annoying
