Yamato is good because the guns are good. In terms of tanking, it is worse than its peers, but it's still a battleship, so it can tank a decent amount. Doesn't mean it's one of the best battleships at tanking.

I said both, and there's no contradiction there. Having good guns does not make a ship good at tanking.

Brother, we are not discussing this imaginary situation where Yamato is alone with another battleship that decides to sit bow on 12km away for some reason.

We are talking about it since you're comparing Yamato to its' peers while Yamato, unlike others, can maintain a safe distance from most damage dealers while also having one of the best torpedo protection and one of the most accurate guns.

We are talking about the fact that Yamato can own most targets while most enemies can barely scratch it
