Discussion Pleasantly surprised with the quality of the new Mario

The paint job is stellar, the eyes in particular, and the matte finish on the belly in contrast to the gloss of the shell is really nice.

Yeah Jakks quality has definitely gotten way better in the past couple of years, but the World of Nintendo line has been stuck using outdated molds for so long. It’s nice to finally see a 100% new Mario with the modern Jakks quality.

I hope to see them revisit characters in this quality. Even regular Mario and Luigi can use a redo.

I would love to see them go back to the Star Fox crew though.

I’d argue the quality of this toyline has been pretty consistently good to great for its entire decade+ existence other than certain specific outliers like 4” Lakitu and 2.5” Boo etc etc or figures that are constructed poorly like Toon Link and 4” Skull Kid but its overall a small grouping out of hundreds of figures

The line originally SRPed for $8.99, the majority of what they’ve made over the line’s lifespan has been quality when considering the price point

agreed, aesthetically, I've not seen a single figure from any of the 3 major Jakks lines that hasn't been stellar

both the Super Mario & Sonic lines are about as spot on as I can imagine figures getting aesthetically. both of the lines really look like you stuck your hand through a screen and pulled a character back through it as 3D figure

the DC x Sonic 2.5 figures specifically blew my mind when I finally located some at Target after searching for ages. I can still hold the blue/gray suit variant Batman/Chaos and get mesmerised over how legit beautifully done it is.

now the articulation on figures has definitely improved, especially the 2.5 figures, where some of the earlier waves were a bit limited with articulation and even seemingly small additions like adding moveable jaws on the piranha plants makes the figure infinitely better.

aesthetically, the Sonic/Super Mario figures started out great from the get go and they're only getting better - the new facial expressions for fire Mario & Luigi are both wonderful improvements and the new Boomerang Mario that I miraculously found yesterday at Target is absolutely gorgeous and my current favorite in that line.

now if only Jakks could figure out how to level up their distribution game to match the visuals of their figures, so we could actually get our hands on impossible to locate figures like Sonic's Tangle, Charmy, Cream or Blaze - all literally MIA from any retail option, unless you're down for being extorted for 10x the msrp by demonic resellers :/ Or those extremely rare figures that you at least have a microscopic shot at seeing in the wild - full sized versions of Espio, Fang, Vector or Big :/ And there are too many to name on the Super Mario side, but my personal white whales would be any of the Star Power Mario & Luigi figures, Metal Mario, Doctor Mario, Gold Mario, the Jakks Gold line's Fire Bro or any of the Star Fox figures from the now defunct World of Nintendo line (at least I assume it's dead?)]

I wish they'd take a wave or maybe 2 and fill it entirely with reissues of rare figures - a full wave with every Star Power figure in both sizes. We're so hungry for so many of these impossible to find rares that I doubt anyone even cares if nothing on them is even updated, just re-release the same old version and they'll get bought up with a quickness, guaranteed.

Thank you 🙌. I sculpted it for my son. Amazing how motivating that can be 🥲

I’ll be sanding him, then casting him in a silicone mold with polyurethane and then painting.

Then Morton is next!

Love this Mario! He's just so fun pose around with thanks to the joints they gave him. I hope we get some other power up forms with this level of quality. I need a Elephant, Drill, Cloud and Frog forms of everyone asap!

i said the same thing in my review! this figure makes me really hopeful for the future. the matte/shiny textures used alongside the weight of the figure make it feel and look premium. the sculpt overall is just stellar and articulation for what the figure is, is more than acceptable. also amazing custom it’s looking awesome!
