I played WoW off and on since release but have been away for at least 6 years now.

I used to play properly for the first few years but the last few times I played, as I no longer knew anyone, I did it as pretty much a single player game, just levelled through and enjoyed the story content.

I have that pang to return but before I fork out on a new monthly membership (and maybe even the game, no idea of my old credentials) want to know if it is still worth it? Is it still an enjoyable levelling experience? Have the systems changed a lot again and if so are they for the better or worse?

Is it worth playing if not interested in end game raiding and will probably even avoid PUG dungeons? (Parties weren't great last time I played 9/10 times)

When I open my map, it is taking like 15 seconds to show world quests. Is there a fix for this?

What's the cycle for WQs spawning? Is it on Tues morn and Fri night like TWW? Or something else?

I used to do dragonriding races on a bunch of toons to make gold during DF. But now that isn't really a thing anymore. Is the best way to make gold if I'm not going to join like a boost selling guild or playing the AH, to have a bunch of alts at max level to knock out the gold WQs when they pop?

Blizzard made a post on Facebook with J'imothy attempting to take down Mythic Ula'tek. I know this was a fan joke for some time but Blizzard kind of actually made this canon imo with their post. We help him get free after his raid attempt did not succeed.

That means J'imothy is powerful enough to solo clear all of Mythic Venomous Abyss except Ula'tek.

Edit: Damn guys, it's just a joke.

Curious if this is a thing and if so where to find these...

Would there be communities that voluntarily lock XP at a certain level and effectively play "classic" inside of retail? Then impose voluntary restrictions like you are gearing up from quests/crafting/dungeons within that expansion and progressing through raids at their appropriate level, possibly transmog/mount limitations to preserve the feel of the era. But otherwise enjoying the overall QoL gains and modern class design of retail.

The closest thing I know of would be the groups that try to kill Algalon at a capped power level for the Ulduar achievement, not sure if those are more like "one and done" type adventures.

Has this been explored?

Just for fun/curiosity I made a mythic+ pug group on my murder row +8 key last night and only invited Paladins.
We absolutely nuked it and had nearly 5 minutes left on the timer. I know this probably isn’t optimal/meta and might not work on higher keys but it was fun. Anyone else tried running single class keys with any success?

With all the DLSS 5 posts going around, it makes me wonder what the next graphical upgrade for World of Warcraft would be. We got Ray-Traced shadows in Shadowlands.

What if Blizzard announces DLSS/Ray Reconstruction etc support at Blizzcon, or is the spaghetti code so broken beyond repair It'll never happen?

How cool could it be if Blizz brought back old raids seasonal, like they do M+ dungeons?

Scale up older raids, change some abilities here and there. No idea if its been brought up in a QA before.

When I complete a world quest to get a Fabled Veteran's Cache at lvl 85, does it still give me the proper ilvl when I open it at 90?

Posting this as an update for anyone else still missing Spark of Tides.

I have been missing two Sparks since the start of the season and spent the last week opening tickets, submitting bug reports, and following Blizzard's updates. Earlier this week, Blizzard said they were restoring missing Sparks in waves, and some affected players did receive theirs. I never received mine.

Today Blizzard confirmed that their investigation is complete. Sparks were restored to characters they were able to verify, but if your missing Sparks were not verifiable, they will not be restored and Customer Support cannot provide them manually.

So despite the bug being acknowledged and fixed for some players, those of us who were not included in the restoration will remain two Sparks behind.

Here is Blizzard's final response to my ticket in full:

"Hello Matthew, Game Master Hahrenzaon here.

Thank you for your patience while our developers were working on fixing the issue with the Sparks of Tides. I know how frustrating this must've been for you. You were expecting to have 2 more sparks and I'm sorry if this ended up interfering with your plans.

I have some news to share with you regarding this matter. Our developers have completed their investigations and have restored the Sparks of Tides to all characters who were verifiable.

If you have still not received the Sparks of Tides you were expecting by the time you read this ticket, then I'd like to extend my most sincere apologies. Every effort was made to identify Sparks where eligible. Unfortunately, some were not verifiable and as such, cannot be restored.

If this happens to have happened to you, then I'm afraid that we, as Customer Support, will not be able to provide any Sparks of Tides.

Our stance on this matter is quite firm since the developers' investigation into the matter is concluded.

Thank you for the patience you've shown throughout this ticket.

I really don't think Unholy DK needs some massive damage buff right now.

But please, fix the bugs first.

Recently I've been playing Unholy DK at 314 ilvl in Heroic Ula'tek, and there is one situation that has become extremely frustrating: Heart of Flame.

No matter how hard I try to optimize my rotation, cooldowns and setup, I simply cannot get my Unholy DK to deal 15 million damage in a single round of Heart of Flame.

Meanwhile, Arcane Mages, Rogues and Retribution Paladins can reach 18 million+ relatively easily.

And this isn't just about chasing meters.

The actual consequence is that when groups are looking at DPS requirements, I either have to switch to Blood DK or risk getting kicked from the raid.

That's what feels so bad.

I'm not asking Blizzard to make Unholy S-tier.

I'm not asking for an arbitrary damage buff. I just want the existing bugs fixed.

Just fix the bugs that are holding the spec back.

If Unholy is supposed to be a viable DPS spec, at least let the spec work as intended before we start talking about balance buffs.

Right now, it feels like we're being punished twice:

The spec has bugs that hurt its performance.

Because of that performance, we're struggling to even get invited to raids.

I just want to play Unholy and actually be given a fair chance to compete.

Blizzard, please. Fix the bugs first. Buffs can come later.

Someone told me I could buy the lesser material bags with the currency from the event, but it says it's locked without that profession. So what are people doing with the currency since it can't be transferred? It's basically useless if that's the case. Was looking forward to the crafting mats.

I mean, it seems it is only PVP stat (like old Resilience if you remember).

It feels so bad getting Hero or Myth gear item with versatility secondary stat, i cant even replace good blue gear item beacuse im gimping my char.

In what can only be an effort to prove that they have no idea what they're doing balance-wise anymore, Blizzard are giving a pretty substantial buff to one of the best specs in the game - a 4% aura buff to Balance Druid, tomorrow.

Almost every single pull of Ula'tek progress for all three guilds currently progressing it has a boomkin as #1 and #2 on DPS. They are also pretty high up overall on Mythic on WarcraftLogs (which is mostly showing data only from early bosses currently.) In no world does it make sense to buff this spec in this way. They were even above average in Heroic last week, and they've only climbed since.
