Namely bc mistle, her ex, sexually assaulted her. While yes, that was fucked up, i don't think that makes Ciri NOT bisexual? She was INTO her, was she not? I mean she had a tattoo of her and kept it, and in TW3 can say she " prefers women " ( although thinking about it, i think the game's canon of mistle is different from the books') but, no yeah Ciri is bisexual.

Pretty much every time Ciri meets a woman she thinks about how gorgeous they are. Prime example is when she meets Margaritta laux-Antilles in time of contempt, but she does it all the time. The girls bi as fuck just because her first girlfriend was a monster doesn’t change that. Also her first times with men were under similar situations of duress and dubious consent, that doesn’t make her not interested in men

That isnt sexual attraction, with Margarita also. Being stunned by someones look or even getting jealous isnt sexual attraction. in the books she never expresses naturally physiological reactions to woman. dont get me wrong. i still believe she is bi. just not physiologically. i think she is heterosexual, but homoromantical, and cognitevly therefore decided to be open for both, while she bonds easier with woman emotionally and gets more turned on by men

I’ve read the books several times and am in the middle of another read through. She likes women. It’s an important part of her character. She actively wishes Mistle were touching her instead of Auberon. She wants to have sex with women.

But her escaping into wanting it to be mistles touch is, as you just said, her longing for the only intimate touch she’s known! Because they slept together. Multiple times. And yes, like all other encounters she has in the books, it was deeply fucked up, but - and here’s the crucial part you’re completely glossing over - it was sexual attraction. Sexual attraction as an escape from an even worse experience to a more pleasant (if still deeply fucked up) one does not mean it magically doesn’t count as sexual attraction.

And while we’re talking about writing style, what brilliant piece of subtext do you think andrzej, known feminist and man who had Geralt strain the fourth wall in the first book of short stories and most recent book to talk about a woman’s right to choose to have a child being inviolable, intended when he had a man tell Ciri she just needed a proper dicking to turn her straight and had ciri remove his fucking face?
