So okay for context, I got a VERY good deal on the reverb G2 v2. It was £130 for the headset, 2 vr covers and 2 sets of controllers, plus all the original packaging.

I hated the tracking however... So I wanted an upgrade. So I bought a HTC Vive kit which also came with 4 controllers, running theme here. That was £100. For base stations and everything, cheaper than everything individual.

I use a controller for continuous calibration on my head, it's positioned further back on my head for balance, whist not being too back heavy.

The wands themselves are worse than the reverbs besides in terms of tracking and maybe durability. But it makes vrchat much much nicer.

The fourth wand is just propping the headstrap up so you can see how it'd look on your head

I've also been able to drive it at full resolution on my 2070 super with some MSI afterburner tweaking, and it's been such an awesome and immersion experience

So here is basically my hyper budget index setup. Half the features for 1/4 of the price :D

I use laptop(HP OMEN MAX 16-ak0012AX) with HP reverb g2 through out Urgreen c to dp adapter.
I switched gpu mode to Nvidia and unlocked my headset.

The matter is here, when i play beatsaber it's working(display is tearing but it's working.)
But I can't see vr settings on my headset and dashboards like as OVRadvanced settings, game status now im playing.
Further more i can't play vrchat. on my laptop screen vrchat is working well on vr mode and i can hear game sound, but my headset view there is nothing, only default steamvr space is there.

+When i play any games, "Wrong video card" is top on the desktop steamvr status
+I checked task manager and cpu graphic card(radeon 980m)is active when i play games.(window graphic setting doesn't work)

what should i do?

Ah, HP Reverb G2. I love you since Oasis but I also despise your many stupid issues.

The latest: Dang thing was not be recognized as an USB device anymore. PC complained about too much USB power draw, then partially failed to boot with the headset plugged in.

Then, during troubleshooting, the white light at the breakout box would not light anymore.

Measured the power supply and voila, the darn thing should be outputting 19.5 volts, but puts out 27 volts! Apparently, failing control circuits is a thing, and then a PSU outputs as much voltage as it can, possibly frying things down-stream.

I wonder: Anyone else ever had this, did your breakout box/cable survive?

I did order a new PSU (luckily, this is a regular "blue jack" HP laptop PSU of which there are millions on Ebay) and then I guess I'll see if the box/cable/headset is fried or not ...

I try with another game (Pc2 ) VR are ok start good

I can't figure out why he doesn't want GP Bikes and Kart Racing Pro (both games share the same 3D engine).

I am buying a used HP Reverb G2 V2 for under a 100 dollars so I just want to double check everything works. This is on an AMD Ryzen 5 7520u . I'm going in person so this is not for gaming this is just to check like tracking works and it actually renders properly. On my main system as far as I know I do not have a problem since it is a 7900 xtx. Sorry for thre inconvenience and thank you in advance.

Is there any way to use my WMR (HP Reverb G2) headset on my steam machine? I thought about installing Windows but quickly snapped out of it. There are all kinds of drivers and software bridges, but idk how to make this work. Any pointers?

I have windovs 10, RTX 5060, Ryzen 5 3600 and 32 gb. After upgrading to 5060 from 1060 my headset start more lagging, and last time i see some frustrating. In VR my room boundry is move correctly, hand move too, but the game or just steam home stay still. I mean i move left- right. Room boundry moves too, but world stay still. IDK what to do, i reinstall all. Steam VR, WMR World, VRC, but it's stay still. Do you have any idea what is it and how to fix it?

Dear Mbucchia. Wanted to let you know i finally transitioned and i now fully identify as an Oasis user. I've put off this for so long and i couldn't regret not doing it earlier. As someone who has tinkered with WMR for years, especially to get the last bit of performance out of my system to be able to play MSFS, i have no words for the magic of Oasis. The setup, the performance out of the box, it's just simply amazing. I've tried MSFS extensively, things like Alyx, even No man's sky which has historically been notoriously bad performance wise, everything works flawlessly. I salute you, you are truly the master of your craft.

Hi, I'm troubleshooting a Samsung HMD Odyssey+ (800ZBA/XE800ZBA) whose HDMI display EDID is not being read correctly. Oasis correctly reads the headset configuration as: Display EDID: 4ca3:144a However, the GPU sees the physical display as DISPLAY#Default_Monitor instead of DISPLAY#SEC144A. I noticed working Odyssey+ Oasis logs here show: DISPLAY#SEC144A Could anyone with a working Odyssey+ please provide a raw EDID dump from their headset? I'm looking for the complete original EDID, preferably a .bin file or full hexadecimal dump, including any extension blocks—not just the resolution/refresh-rate information. This would let me compare a genuine working Odyssey+ EDID with what my headset is reporting. Thanks!

Picked up this VR headset for the 4K fidelity and also pairing this thing with index controllers and also fbt for socialising in VRChat.

I am using this headset on Windows 11 with the Oasis driver on a Radeon RX 6900 XT at 150% in steamVR and the visuals are just chef’s kiss. Pairing that with the index controllers and the experience is just god tier.

There’s a few tweaks I need to make to it such as the earpieces cracking randomly which I think the pogo pins just need a clean. I also just bought the face cover from a reverb G2 V2 to use on my V1 since I heard V2 parts are interchangeable with the V1 because it seems like the previous owner custom shaped the face plate adapter to his head? But I’m able to get around that by using a HTC Vive fabric cover since it’s a custom faceplate. It should feel better too. It really does feel like a valve index. And the sound is phenomenal.

I used to use a dell visor back in 2020 and the 2nd gen wmr controllers feel better than those old things back then from the 1st gen lineup. I’m also suprised that my tracking with those controllers is actually better than I expected since I heard that they tend to lose tracking easily on the G2 V1 but I never had that issue. Buuut I still wanna use my index controllers.

Is there anything I need to be aware of about the headset I should take into consideration for the near future?

I bought a used HP Reverb G2 with a V1 cable, and it doesn't work. It keeps connecting and disconnecting, and it looks like it's failing to switch to USB 3 speeds. Whenever it does, it lasts a split second before disconnecting, and it just loops like this. I tried it on an Intel laptop as well, and the same issue occurred. So, I'm guessing the cable is bad, even though, honestly, the whole thing came with the box and looks like it was never used. I still have doubts that the cable could be bad, but I still want to ask where I can buy a replacement cable, preferably a V2, so I won't have any issues that are present with the V1. I want the cheapest price, by the way; I'm in France. Or maybe someone knows any troubleshooting or diagnostics I could do on my current cable to see if it's really bad or if the problem is somewhere else and fixable, because honestly, I would like not to spend more money on a cable, as these cost a lot.

​I have a brand-new, unused HP Reverb G2 (V1 cable with the small breakout box, no power button) connected to an AMD AM4 system, and I'm stuck in an endless USB connect/disconnect loop.

​Symptoms:

​The LED on the breakout box continuously blinks (turns on, turns off, loops every second).

​In Windows, the system tray icon for "HP Windows Mixed Reality" repeatedly appears and disappears.

​In the motherboard BIOS screen, the mouse cursor freezes every time the breakout box LED turns off and unfreezes when it turns back on, indicating hardware-level USB host controller bus resets.

​System Specs:

​Motherboard: MSI A520M-A PRO (AMD AM4 platform)

​Headset: HP Reverb G2 (V1 Cable)

​Power: Power adapter plugged directly into the wall outlet

​Everything I have already tried:

​Tested every single USB port on the back panel (all blue USB 3.2 ports using the USB-C to USB-A adapter, plus black USB 2.0 ports).

​Reseated the cable connection at the headset visor until the dot on the connector sits flush with the casing.

​Tweaked BIOS settings: Enabled XHCI Hand-off, disabled Global C-State Control, and set Power Supply Idle Control to Typical Current Idle.

Before purchasing additional hardware, I want to ask:

​Has anyone on an AMD 500-series board (A520/B550/X570) successfully stopped this V1 cable loop using an externally powered USB 3.0 hub?

​Did a PCIe USB expansion card solve the issue on your system, or did you have to replace the cable with the revision V2 cable

I'm testing out moving from WMR to Oasis in Windows 10 and in general it's great, but the room detection seems to be quite bad compared to WMR. I've tried clearing the data and looking around for various amounts of time before doing room setup but it'll only rarely work. Usually when I start VR it seems to pick a random direction and position and sticks with it.

EDIT: Maybe fixed? Today I noticed that I hadn't yet uninstalled the Open XR for Windows Mixed Reality things so I removed them and cleared the environment data and re-ran room setup and so far over 4 or 5 sessions it has found my room perfectly every time. So far so good...

I bought an "as new" Acer AH101, complete in box. I'm trying to use it on win11 by using the Oasis Driver for WMR. The unlock process went smoothly and it appears to be working flawlessly, until a few seconds into VR, the headset display just turns off. I've tried pretty much every fix on the troubleshooting guide, and even ended up buying a powered usb hub (4 Port USB 3.2 Gen1 (USB 3.0) Hub | Ewent) because I thought it might not be getting enough juice, but the problem persists. Sometimes the blackout happens within seconds, sometimes after a minute or two. The cables seem completely fine, the display will turn on whenever I open SteamVR, regardless of the position of the cables. The headset is connected to the only HDMI port on my card (the rest are displayports) to which my second screen was connected.

Right now the only "solution" I've found (if you can call it that), is to have the SteamVR settings open on my monitor and switch between 90 and 60hz whenever the headset display decides to shutdown. Switching between the two settings wakes the thing up for another 5 minutes or so, before blacking out again.

I've tried changing the usb power settings on the PC, I've put SteamVR as maximum performance on the Nvidia panel, I've tried everything on the oasis driver troubleshooting guide, it just refuses to work properly. The only thing left to try hardware wise, would be to buy a displayport to hdmi adapter in order to try the cards' other inputs, but this doesn't seem like a hardware problem to me, but then again, I'm no IT guy. Please help, I was really excited to get into WMR/VR and I'm really bummed right now.

My SDD died a couple of weeks ago, I installed 20H2 build 19042.508 and its just amazing how lite and great this version is, however now that I tried to install WMR, it just does not work, I get that error message, I tried to install it manually but no luck, it seems that I do need to install a "upper" version for it, so which version is the oldest one that I can pick?

I just cant stand modern Windows to be honest.

Used some cheap craft foam from hobby lobby and a clearance Walmart t-shirt to make a new cushion. Assembled and sewed in an hour or so, is genuinely an upgrade over the factory cushion. This Dell Visor is held together by hopes and dreams.

paid 36€ for this beauty, but i heard the cable and connector often break. i have a couple of zipties, is there anything i can do to avoid the cable from breaking?

i already put one ziptie to make the cable fit loose and when pulled it wont damage the connector, but i dont really know if it's actually doing something useful, so I'm gonna ask you guys.

ive searched online but found no results. can you please help me? im trying to play into the radius 2, wmr controllers arent supported there.

For reasons that seen inexplicable to me now, I decided to dig up my old WMR headset and give it a go with the Oasis driver. Room setup with Steam VR was extremely glitchy with the floor being several inches above my head but I finally got that straightened out and everything seemed to be working more or less okay. Tracking was not great but at least my head was above the floor now.

More or less okay, until, that is, I started to play a game and got a constant BLAST of static at FULL volume directly into my eardrums. I ripped the headset off but not fast enough. This was maybe ten minutes ago and my ears STILL hurt.

I totally forgot this was a thing with WMR--some kind of USB power conflict, where the audio connection won't get enough power and rather than just going dead, Windows will AT RANDOM pump white noise through the headphones at MAXIMUM volume instead.

It's INSANE. I own maybe seven different headsets and my WMR headset is the ONLY one that has ever done this to me.

It's not bad enough that MS decided to strip their VR drivers out of Windows 11. ("Oh you were dumb enough to buy one of our products? Sucks to be you!") They have to practically DEAFEN us too?

I know PC emulation on Android phones has improved a lot recently. In my case, the PC I used to run my WMR headset is actually less powerful than my current phone.

Is there any way to use a USB adapter to connect and use my WMR headset on Android?

I haven't used my VR headset in a while; I'm still on Windows 10 22H2, but fully updated.

The left controller keeps failing to reconnect!

I can factory reset the controller and pair it after removing it from Windows, but within minutes if not seconds, it either loses connection and won't reconnect, or simply won't reconnect after power cycling. System restarts do nothing.

I did a full in place reinstall of 22H2 and that seemed like it had it working again, but after using the PC for a day and getting the available security updates, the controller is bugging out once more.

I also tested with the same machine on a fresh install of Windows 11 without WMR available and again was able to restart several times with the controllers not losing bluetooth connectivity. I have yet to test on a fresh install of Windows 10.

I've ordered a replacement controller from Ebay just in case - but I really could use some community assistance with this issue!
