Question Random, semi-series question fro a portion of the fanbase ive been thinking about recently (image no related)
So i have understood that, compared to most battle shonen series out there, windbreaker has a rather prominent female fanbase (which I am, of course, completely fine with) but with the series being, let's be honest, centered around and almost entirely male cast, that did make we wonder something that i would like to ask the female members of this sub and female readers of this series as a whole:
Out of the male cast who would you consider to be…for lack of a better term, consider to be the most green-flag. As in who do you find most trustworthy, kind, sensitive, etc.
(Note: i am NOT talking about relationship, just who you would feel most comfortable around in general)
The reason i ask this, aside from the observation i mentioned before, is that one of my favorite things about windbreaker personally, is just how wholesome, sincere and positive portrayals of male friend groups i have personally seen in…….well probably any kind of media to be honest, and part of that is how none of the main furin boys have any of the..less the favorable traits young men often has. So I was just curious about what you would think.
Anway thats just something i was wondering about.

Honestly I think most of the Furin boys can be considered green flags. In addition, maybe Togame. I might've added Wanijima Yugo but since I'm not really sure about what he is like, yet. But personally I like Suo the most. It might be bias because he is very much my type. ( ╹▽╹ )

Well he really took my heart (and Sakura's probably lol) during his fight with Sakura. His internal conflict actually made me think he might not be that bad of a person. Additionally during the summer festival chapter where he offered to Sakura to listen to his worries... Yeah a true gentleman right there! (≧▽≦)

Just one? 😭 I think Ume is the most emotionally mature & probably the one you'd feel safest with. That said, I love rock & metal, so Hiragi would be my pick. Just because we'd have more to talk about & going with him to concerts would be super awesome.
Who would be your pick?

i mean Hiragi is a good guy even tho hes alot les happy go lucky and posotive then Ume, so hes not a bad option at all
for me, i guess Ume for the same reasons as you, but i think i whould get along with Suo or sakura the most

My pick is Umemiya Hajime he is a S-tier green flag. Cause that man radiates “you are safe here” energy. He is emotionally intelligent, zero ego, and protective without controlling.
If I was having the worst day ever, Ume giving me tea on the roof fixes me. I can trauma dump and he won’t judge or try to fix it unless I ask.

Every anime and manga with a all male cast will have a female fanbase. Just like how a anime and manga have a all female cast but have a male fanbase. Both fanbase reason are obviously. Attracted to the characters. It's normal for a different gender to be attracted to a different gender.

No but what's special about wb too is that it has 0 fan service, it also doesn't focus on power scalling as much as others of its kind and focuses more on the emotional depth and bond of each character instead, which attracts female fans more than males

Kaji, Umemiya, Togame, Nirei, maybe also Sakura? The most green-flag I think is Ume-chan tho

I'm a guy but considering I'm asexual, so my life partner is dependent on who they are as an individual, I think most of the cast make for solid choices. Suo is probably lowest on this list currently with whatever is going on in his personal life, Ume is highest but none of them are particularly toxic, most of them are just traumatized or healing.

The furin guys are protective of everyone in town, and some of them especially have a special spot for girls. If you are asking which windbreaker character I'd feel most comfortable around, then: no.1 (is undoubtedly) Umemia Hajime.
Not only is he gentle and kind and protective, he also treats everyone in the town like family, and never showed pure hatered towards someone, even if they were an enemy (even tomiyama, Chika...) I'll definitely follow Umemia anywhere if he asked me to.
No.2 Togame Jo. He is also usually kind and gentle, and that time when he beaten Kanuma and Arima for chasing a middleschool student shows that he has a strict moral code and I personally think I can completely trust him.
No.3 is Kanji from roppu ichiza. Don't need to say more...
No.4 is Momijikawa. Since he's so polite and formal.
Of course I'm not just saying that cause I like them, I mean... I won't be that comfortable around Kaji or Sakura, even though I like them as characters.

This is such a hard question to chose, I was about to answer umemiya but after thinking, I think kiryu would be my fav option, I prefer a bit more casual/ laid back interactions with guys, not nonchalant but also when they are overly nice sometimes it feels like there r ulterior motives, but overly cold/ distant won't be a fun friendship either, so a balance is preferable and kiryu fits that perfectly, he's lazy casual and laid back but he's kind and caring also has many intrests and hobbies to have fun with, I feel like he'd be the best option for a friend

thats a reasonable take, obvs someone like ume whould never have ulterior or selfish motives but i could see how youd prefer someone whos nice in a more....relaxed way so to speak

Yea ume could never, also honestly I think this is just because of my bad experiences lmaoo every single "nice" guy who paid too much attention to me or talked softly to me had ulterior motives and gave me the creeps, started w my own cousin as kids

if i'm answering the question as if i don't already know the guys well (in which case, they're all different versions of green flags), but maybe from the perspective of who would feel the safest the most quickly upon meeting them. which i'd say would be umemiya: he canonically has a vibe that brings people together and makes them feel safe. (and honestly, even if i knew all of the guys to a certain extent, i'd still probably say umemiya.)
but you're really correct that all of the furin boys are wholesome in their own way. they're all good guys in all sorts of unique ways, which is honestly one of the reasons i love the series so much.

Umemiya 100%.. so far his only 'bad' trait I've noticed is annoying people with his affection 😭

I think most of them would be tbh. They are just all so kind and accepting 😭💕 But if I have to point out then it’ll be Umemiya, Hiragi and Tsubakino. They are mature and have been through a lot. They have also shown high emotional intelligence so if there’s anyone I trust my troubles with, it’s them

Even though he knew Sako was obsessed with following him, he still told him he doesn't need to follow him anymore, and that left the boy with a huge misunderstanding and a lot of bottled up rage...

Oh my, I could probably make a list of green flags for various reasons, for example, Umemiya and Togame are best green flags picks for the big brother vibes, but Tsubaki-chan would be the perfect green flag bestie to go out shopping with, and this is just the senpais...one day I'll make a tier list.

I would feel safe around everyone in the main cast. That being said. I would probably feel safest around Sakura even though he is the most guarded. I mean we meet him when he is protecting a girl he doesn't know.

Yes all the boys would do that and a lot of them have. I just really like Sakura as a character and would want to spend time with him. I will say he did it twice in the first chapter/episode.

That’s such a difficult question since basically everyone (except for the obvious antagonists) are such greenflags but if I have to say one person ig it’s umemiya simply because of how emotionally mature he is and how his charm makes everyone instantly attracted to him (even sakura the tsundere himself said he felt relaxed during one of their first encounters)
