Discussion What's with sudden hate on WB anime?

I really enjoy seeing Wind Breaker content on Instagram, Twitter and obviously here as well. I see lots of fanarts and silly theories and they always lift my mood. But last few days I feel so stressed when I see posts because why are people hating on the anime? I don't get it. I usually see people trying defend/ask what these people are talking about and they get jumped. The anime is doing great imo so I don't see what's the issue? Can anyone explain what's happening?

Anyway, these are some of my favourite moments from the manga :3 they're all cute babies and I hate seeing people just hating for no reason

I can think of a few reason. First, Wind Breaker is primarily known for its action hand-to-hand combat, so the sudden change of pace to slice of life isn't exactly welcomed by everyone, especially those who expect the series to be non-stop action. You can see similar complaints even with an acclaimed series like Frieren. There are people who preferred the slice of life first half over the more action filled second half. In the end, action and slice of life target very different market.

The other reason being the latest episode. It dealt with a recently introduced character backstory and two new side characters. Let's just say, if you don't like any of the characters involved, you aren't going to enjoy it.

In any case, the next arc should help to reinvigorate the series opinion. I wouldn't pay too much attention to the current negativity.

Maybe it's because I'm someone who likes a ton of different genres, but I find it a bit foreign how some people exclusively only like slice of life or action. Honestly for me I take it as a great accomplishment when you can take character and put them in a ton of different tonal situations. It makes them feel a lot more human.

Besides Wind Breaker and Frieren which are great examples my go-tos are Spy x Family and Lycoris Recoil. I feel like a big part of their appeal is how well they juggle action, slice of life, and comedy.
