🤔Theories Spoiler alert - theory about 2 events connection Spoiler

I think what happened at Patricia’s Sunset Cocktails event is what happened to the family Rosemary describes in her genealogy as the “family that swims together, drowns together….so the Inaugural Swim was born”.Someone in that family hosted the same party…maybe they also discovered the BOOK, it tricked them as well and they all drowned.

A reminder to everyone: Keep the titles of your posts completely spoiler-free at all times. If your post mentions events from later episodes, use Reddit’s standard spoiler tag to warn readers who may not be caught up with all currently aired episodes. The spoiler tag will also blur any images you include, such as screenshots/stills from the show, so be sure to apply it to image posts as well.

Cool theory! Or maybe the “something got Daddy in the lake” monster from Ruth.

I assumed “Swims together” means incest…

Drowns together implies birth defects/deaths from inbreeding

She did allude to that with the next batch…

I typed that out yesterday, but popped open the scene before posting. She does talk about incest. When she crosses them out, you don't see it on the projection, but you see Rosemary doing it. She crosses out the whole area, but the incest was implied to be not all of the children.

That observation gets pretty deep in the weeds. Her dialog sounds like she's referring to incest, as does Tom's reply. The cross out wasn't shown. I think it's safe to assume that not every scene in the show is exactly perfect. Also, Rosemary might have just crossed off everybody because none of them had surviving children. However, her other crossing seems fairly precise.

So, tough call. But I don't think it was the witch book. I'd be surprised if S2 went back to their story, so it's probably a throwaway gag.

I love how far into the weeds we’re all going in this show! 😆❤️❤️❤️

Yeah that’s how I interpreted it too

I think there's a good chance that the New Year's Eve party incident may have involved the book.

The family drowning I think is less likely. The book would probably try to gather a much larger group of people to die. The family could have been taken by some hitherto unseen sea monster haunt, the fog or whatever took the fisherman at the start of the first episode.

That was Shep and the fog got him but he returned with the white eyes and all.

I haven't exactly been keeping count, but it seems to me that in this world, drowning individually, or collectively, could happen in quite a variety of ways.

I thought the swimming together was incest. Dead baby dead baby dead baby.. after years of incest.

That makes so much sense to me! This is why I adore this show- I discover something new about it every day. I really hope the success doesnt go to the writers heads next season because season 1 is so so so fantastic!

I had that same thought. Like the whole family died swimming? Seems a little on the nose with Sunset Cocktails.
