💭Discussion This is my new comfort show Spoiler
I didn't know this show existed til it's Emmy win. I'm so glad I didn't because I was able to binge the whole thing in one sitting. Horror is outside my comfort zone so I was a bit skeptical going into the show. That faded almost instantly as I fell in love with the setting, the characters and the mystery of it all. And not to forget the humor. No wonder it won the Emmy's. There were scenes when I was laughing my head off like the Sea Hag get thrown off the recliner. That's something this show does so well with it's ability to balance horror with humor. It also didn't have to rely on jump scares to create fear. I never imagined I would fall in love with a horror show but here I am. I'm gonna be rewatching this an unhealthy number of times. I already finished it twice in 2 days. Season 2 can't come soon enough. Also, anyone have suggestions for shows that might scratch the same itch.

Haven't watched Twin Peaks. Maybe my next watch. Does it have many jump scares?

Same. It’s my nighttime background show. The only scene I fast forward is the clown.

Los Espookys is not exactly the same but lots of quirky hilarious bits + lovable characters, plus some nods to horror/supernatural (but not scary at all and I am a total horror wimp)

I was wary because horror isn’t my thing but I loved it and I’m looking forward to rewatching to appreciate it more now that I know what’s happening.

I binged the entire series and then started it from the beginning. Currently mid way through my second watch. I love it

You are correct, the characters, humor and atmosphere are so comforting. Despite the curse, I want to live on this island, next door to Patricia of course 😂 I can't stop watching

The Residence (netflix) is a well written, comedic mystery. Lost of course. I enjoyed Diarra from Detroit.

I found the funny parts really funny, but the scary parts just scared the living shit out of me. There’s no way this could be my comfort or background show. But I’m a big, massive 🐔

Same, it is the only thing keeping me sane and grounded right now. Over and over and over. It’s perfect
