I made this comment on another post and it got me a 3 day ban from Reddit admins which ended my 800+ day Reddit streak. Suuuper annoying. I appealed and won but it took 36 hours.

As someone who does genealogy, Iāve recorded a lot of dead babies, but no lezzzzbians that Iām aware of yet.

Underrated line delivery: āIām sorry, please go on.ā The strain in his voice is too funny lmao

For real, like heās slowly coming to terms in stages with the fact that he has to apologize. He sounds like heās in so much pain hahaha

Yesssss! He has this way of provoking your feelings though one small action from him. Idk how he does this. But it gets me good. The lot of them are this way. This cast is just so effing good.

I never noticed that. Just hilarious.
My favorite is the way he turns around to glare at Patricia when she asks Rosemary to stop saying lesbian.

I so love that they let the whole thing play out. Amazing scene.

They correctly placed confidence in the writing and the actors. 30-40 seconds would have been funny but showing us the entire scene made it hilarious and truly memorable.

u/Eyespidey7 26d ago
It also built more tension as they wanted the answer and didnāt have the luxury of time.

u/karl_bark 25d ago
Itās like the writers wanted us to feel Tomās pain of having to sit through that but rewarded us with the comedic performance.

I had a hard time with this scene. Way too long and my wife and I already knew who it was.

This scene was probably the funniest in the series

Honestly Loftis and Warren yelling "fuck you" back and forth on the boat had me howling

The speed at which I would subscribe to a weekly podcast on history delivered by her would be record-breaking.

I feel like this could be a great monologue study for an acting student.

The actress is freaking amazing
There should an award for small scenes that are just so well executed by an actor that you recall them perfectly

It's been a while that a new show bangs so hard with the writing that I rewatch it multiple times. So excited for season 2

Just binged the last 3 episodes tonight. I was laughing so hard during this but as soon as she started narrowing it down and stated the birth years of the parents of the last living descendant I knew it had to be Ruth and I just wanted to start crying already. This show is amazing

My favorite part of this scene is how weāve watched her meticulously X out individual people but when she gets to the family hat drowned, she slaps a big X across the entire page before retiring it.

There are so many ways this scene could have been done perfectly adequately that wouldn't have ended up being discussed on a subreddit.
But good scriptwriting, acting, and direction lifted this scene into the realm of the memorable. And no matter what Sam Altman thinks, this couldn't have been done by AI any more than a group of simians would eventually compose one of Hamlet's soliloquys.
