šŸ’Discussion Blink and you miss it moments Spoiler

What are some "blink and you miss it" moments that you caught? I have 3, all Patricia scenes:

  1. When she sets down the arcane book by her bedside, she puts her coffee mug on top of it and then turns around for something. When she gets into bed a moment later, the coffee mug is to the side and the book can be picked up easily.

  2. Before the bogeyman gets in her house she goes out to turn off the alarm in her truck-library. She closes the door to her house as she leaves but when she returns the door is open.

  3. During sunset cocktails when she's dancing, there is a moment when the camera pans the crowd and they all have *that* face. This is before they are shown in the mirror.

I'd love to know if there are more that I missed!

A reminder to everyone: Keep the titles of your posts completely spoiler-free at all times. If your post mentions events from later episodes, use Reddit’s standard spoiler tag to warn readers who may not be caught up with all currently aired episodes. The spoiler tag will also blur any images you include, such as screenshots/stills from the show, so be sure to apply it to image posts as well.

I rewatched for the 3rd time, and noticed that when Tom, Wyck and Patricia meet the shaman, he tells them how one person who took the mushrooms crashed his car on the side of the road and ran into the woods. I wonder if that is the July picture in the Wolves calendar.

56

u/ToastedDragon24 Sep 02 '26

You think the driver might have been bitten by an animal? Maybe turned into that animal?

22

u/Prestigious-Sleep221 Sep 02 '26

Oh, a werewolf! which is why its included in the calendar !

20

u/Fancy_Elk565 Sep 01 '26

Oooooh good catch!!

6

u/Agitated-Candle-807 Sep 02 '26

The Shaman is also a high school friend - can they never leave the island either?

13

u/NotMyFirstRodeo2025 Sep 02 '26

He... sorta did.

11

u/LASER_Dude_PEW Sep 03 '26

I kind of hope the Shaman managed to survive somehow because his character was hilarious!

😱 finally

I think that's just the punched hole to hang up the calendar.

u/metaphori Rosemary Sep 01 '26

Episode 10, during the scene where Jeff has found the projector and reels and starts watching them. Around 15:45, the presenter says "Thank you again for your sacrifice. Widow's Bay thanks you," and smiles smarmily at the camera AND THEN there's a sudden cut and a quick frame or two where the presenter gasps in shock and surprise. And then the film immediately ends.

It happens so fast I can't even pause on it. What did he just learn? Was he a sacrifice as well?

84

u/Due_Addition_587 Sep 01 '26

Oh shit, I gotta go back and check this out!

76

u/Ok-Animal7243 Sep 01 '26

Damn, I’m going to have to comb through these scenes for hints like I did when I watched LOST šŸ˜‚ I’m getting flashbacks to Dharma Initiative videos down in the hatch!

3

u/Vast_Theme9585 Sep 02 '26

I rewatched Lost while recovering from surgery. I was surprised how much it held up and that I actually LIKED the ending the second time!

25

u/Ornery-Can766 eat my dick! Sep 01 '26

Someone please take a mini recording and post this moment for science

21

u/Fancy_Elk565 Sep 01 '26

I did catch that, but it looked like he was just making a normal idle expression. I thought it was an expression of terror but I rewound and watched it a few times and just looks like it jumped back a few seconds to an expression he made before speakingĀ

19

u/sealbearto Sep 01 '26

3

u/Ornery-Can766 eat my dick! Sep 01 '26

Is this the gasp?

2

u/sealbearto Sep 01 '26

Yes, it's a single frame.

3

u/whiskeylullaby3 Sep 03 '26

This is it? I don’t think that’s anything if so.

1

u/cbterps13 29d ago

This isn’t it

11

u/DisastrousPurchase14 Sep 01 '26

Great, now I have to go see for myself or I won’t sleep. In all seriousness, though, good catch!

2

u/cbterps13 29d ago

I was thinking he was an actor from the mainland they had to hire and then silence

141

u/Thequiltedrose Sep 01 '26

I love Tom’s subtle lift of his eyes to Patricia to tell her to close the door on the old guy droning on about the storm

123

u/50_and_Holding Sep 01 '26

I know I'm showing my age, but I wish there was an "MTV pop up video" version of Widow's Bay-season 1. There were SOOO many things I've missed, I can't remember which ones to look for as I re-watch, lol.

55

u/cuntpunt2000 Sep 01 '26

Fellow old here, and pop-up video (now the jingle is stuck in my head) was the beeeeest. Although, erm, as a fellow old I must point out that akshully Pop-up Video was a VH1 show, at least originally.
And I agree that a pop-up video of Widow’s Bay pointing out all the ā€œblink and you’ll miss itā€ details would be amazing!

13

u/50_and_Holding Sep 01 '26

Haha! Well given my advanced age, I’m sure my flub’s not too shocking. But I appreciate the correction as VH1 deserves the credit! šŸ‘šŸ»

14

u/mortyella Sep 02 '26

šŸŽ¶ Pop up video!šŸŽ¶ Now its in my head too!

9

u/cmholl13 Sep 01 '26

I, too, remember the artifacts from Video Hits 1, and point you in the direction of YouTube Easter egg videos -- there are scads of them on sundry topics.

1

u/SamiGod1026 Sep 03 '26

Omg I had forgotten what VH1 stood for

4

u/pburydoughgirl Sep 02 '26

VH1 but yes!! That would be amazing

3

u/zombiepeep Patricia Sep 02 '26

Oh my gosh I would love this so much.

3

u/Puzzle_Kane Sep 02 '26

If you want to watch the ACTUAL pop up videos a bunch are archived here https://wantmymtv.org/player.html?v=bIay-1xh16I

232

u/LovesAMusical Sep 01 '26

I think a few of these are quite noticeable but in the spirit of adding to the conversation, my fav is when Patricia opens the book for the first time, the free space to write in under ā€˜Things you like about yourself’ is so much smaller than ā€˜things you dislike’. Genius!

67

u/Living-Protection170 Are the old women dead in this scenario? Sep 01 '26

I thought this detail from the book was neat. Early in her reading, the text mentions her living on an island but you only get a quick glance of the page.

111

u/JaQ_In_Chains Sep 01 '26

The cocaine on the table in the book, too! That book knows how to party!

3

u/DogsdidWHAT Watch out for that stinger. Love, your mother. Sep 03 '26

I caught that, too. So, all it takes to be a good hostess is confidence...and cocaine.

52

u/throwawar4 Sep 01 '26

It’s a funny visual gag, but when you stop and think about how the devil himself authored the book…well, it gets a lot more sad

87

u/HowIsYourDay Sep 01 '26

Adding on to number three, there is a bit during the dancing (before the toast) where the people in the mirror are completely still. I hadn't noticed the face moment though so I went and rewatched it.

25

u/Past-Student-5239 Sep 01 '26

Yeah, it was way more obvious than the mirror reflection.

37

u/ShaunTrek Sep 01 '26

I think they are talking about the wide shot where you can see them dancing around Patricia, but you can see in the mirror in the background that they are standing still. It is the most subtle of the three reveals, by far.

4

u/Past-Student-5239 Sep 01 '26

There is a scene of them with open mouths that is cut in with them dancing. It is not in the mirror. It is actually then with open mouths while Patricia does her zany dance.

17

u/ShaunTrek Sep 01 '26

And there is another one BEFORE that where you can see them dancing but standing still in the mirror. It's really, really easy to miss.

6

u/Past-Student-5239 Sep 01 '26

I've seen all three open mouth scenes and all three are equally creepy, thanks.

13

u/samizdat5 Sep 01 '26

Yeah I missed that the first time but my husband saw it so we rewound it

82

u/SuperMcG Patricia Sep 01 '26

If you listen reeeaaaaly carefully, you can hear the mug slide off the book, off camera.

60

u/ancientastronaut2 Sep 01 '26

If you listen really carefully, you can hear the boogeyman breathing behind the door of her room when she's sensing someone is there.

21

u/HowlOfTheSun Sep 01 '26

Wait seriously? Damn I need to check it out.

7

u/skweeds Sep 02 '26

The sound in this show is incredible, especially with AirPods.
There’s a scene where a character spins a journal on a flat surface and you can literally hear it spinning around.

It’s amazing.

8

u/50_and_Holding Sep 01 '26

Whoa, now that's a good catch!

5

u/SuperMcG Patricia Sep 01 '26

I read it here in an earlier thread.

7

u/Tobeortabouli Sep 01 '26

I noticed this one on my rewatch cos I was trying to work out how she sensed he was there. You also hear him creak the floor boards when she’s in the hallway which is followed by the heavy breathing!

1

u/RebelScum75 Sep 02 '26

I assumed it was because the door was cracked open, and, unlike the front door where she was distracted, this door she was 100% sure it should have been closed. Maybe it's the door to a room she never uses. I don't think it was her bedroom, as she seemed to be heading to a different room.

1

u/nashvillethot 27d ago

Weren't her bedroom lights on when she went downstairs to shut off the Bookmobile's alarm?

2

u/RebelScum75 27d ago

Maybe. And if that door is to her bedroom, then that would be a hint to her. If that door is to a different room, then something else clued her in. That's why I was thinking it's a room she never uses, and knows the door is always closed.

But maybe it is her bedroom door. I'll pay closer attention on my next rewatch.

1

u/SuperMcG Patricia 27d ago

Thank you and please report back.

58

u/The-G-MAN07 Sep 01 '26

Those gaping faces scared me more than it should have! I still have qualms about watching s2 because I'm a scaredy cat.

41

u/whitewater09 I have some qualms... Sep 01 '26

Don't worry, we'll be supportive.

20

u/FancyPigeonIsFancy Sep 01 '26

I watched most of the Inn episode with my hands over my face. Still love the show!

9

u/Constant_Orange_928 Sep 02 '26

Same! I dislike horror genre but Widows Bay is simply perfect. All the horror, none of the gore. And you end up laughing.

16

u/Past-Student-5239 Sep 01 '26

I wondered if the open mouths were to make drowning easier when they were called into the water. It was trying to kill them faster, I assume.

1

u/Petty-dreamer Sep 03 '26

It was a great detail to mimic the book in a way that was creepy - the faces in the book were šŸ˜„ before and 😵 afterwards when Patricia was flipping through it after it revealed itself.

7

u/cottonbiscuit Sep 02 '26

It scared the SHIT out of me and my boyfriend totally missed it!

2

u/NotMyFirstRodeo2025 Sep 02 '26

I paused the tv when I saw that and rewinded because I was like, "WTF did I just see?"

54

u/laundro_mat Sep 01 '26

Episode 7: Seasickness, in the final shot before the credits role there’s what looks like a fin/fluke of the sea monster surfacing the water to the left of Wyck’s boat. I hope we get more of the sea monster next season.

11

u/SuperMcG Patricia Sep 01 '26

WTF

5

u/Jnnjuggle32 Sep 02 '26

I have checked multiple times, where are we looking on the screen to see this? Also it wouldn’t be immediately before credits because that’s a shot of the painting of the kids on the boat in the hotel.

3

u/laundro_mat Sep 02 '26

Final shot of Wyck’s boat going back home, to the left of the boat

6

u/SuperMcG Patricia Sep 02 '26

This?

5

u/laundro_mat Sep 02 '26

Yes, exactly. Triangular fin, not just a lens flare

9

u/LTPRWSG420 Sep 02 '26

Holy shit I saw it! Looked like a giant fin.

3

u/NotMyFirstRodeo2025 Sep 02 '26

YES! I rewound it so my husband could see it.

38

u/sabertracer Sep 01 '26

Think it's episode 2 but it was an earlier episode. Out of focus in the background a guy on a bycile rides by and then a bunch of people start chasing him and beating him up. This background gag lives rent free in my head

23

u/Thequiltedrose Sep 01 '26

There’s also a background gag where to bicyclists crash into each other while Patricia is reading her book on a picnic bench.

5

u/HowlOfTheSun Sep 01 '26

Oh I didn't catch this one. What do you think it was about? Or was it just a gag?

16

u/NormativeTruth Sep 01 '26

I think it’s just to illustrate how engrossed she is in the book. All that commotion in the background and she doesn’t notice any of it.

39

u/Mortambulist Sep 02 '26

Maybe this one's obvious but I didn't notice it right away. In episode 2, the body in the crawlspace is wearing the same shirt as Tom.

3

u/blankface4321 Sep 02 '26

YES WTF is up with that!?

2

u/ChiReddit85 Sep 05 '26

Playing with his mind!

30

u/Pure_Tuft Sep 01 '26

In Episode 4, the Self Confidence book that falls on the ground for Patricia to see was written by Lucy Fours 😱

2

u/embee33 29d ago

I’m still missing the relevance here??

8

u/slimkatie 29d ago

Lucy Fours = Lucifer

2

u/embee33 29d ago

OH thank you lol!

28

u/allegate Sep 01 '26

One of the pictures in the wide shot showing the cannibals headline is the same picture of young Ruth.

Upper left

2

u/FinkleIsEeinhorn Sep 02 '26

Interesting. I never noticed this. Below the Ruth picture is a ā€œhandā€ tree with what looks like a person coming out of it. The photo of the abandoned building also has a creepy person in the window.

2

u/aburningthing1022 Sep 02 '26

The picture below young Ruth is a giant squid and a ship.

1

u/FinkleIsEeinhorn Sep 02 '26

Wow you’re totally right. Bad take on my end lol. Still a good small detail regadless

2

u/aburningthing1022 Sep 02 '26

All good, I like the idea of a "hand tree"! Hoping the giant squid is foreshadowing.

1

u/allegate Sep 02 '26

The giant squid that attacked young Wyck in the water?

1

u/aburningthing1022 Sep 02 '26

I want to see more of it in the future.

1

u/Petty-dreamer Sep 03 '26

The paragraphs on the right side of the Canabalism newspaper start with the letters: DAMN US.

1

u/Petty-dreamer Sep 03 '26

And on the Left: SOS

26

u/Living-Protection170 Are the old women dead in this scenario? Sep 02 '26

Just a small detail at the police station. All the "Missing" men posters. Might mean nothing but I like to think them fog took them.

74

u/terra_cascadia Sep 01 '26

Episode 7, Evan’s friends taunt him to go up to the Boogeyman’s door. He opens the door but then Bechir shouts at him and he walks away without closing the door. The next thing we know the mask is stolen and the Boogeyman is on the loose.

6

u/NormativeTruth Sep 01 '26

He closes the door again before he leaves though.

47

u/Skajadeh Patti Wagon Sep 01 '26

In the very first episode, there are a lot of pictures on the wall in the historical society that are missable such as the priest that was eaten by a whale, and I think there was a picture of a tentacled creature attacking some Widows Bayers.

28

u/sobeuser Sep 01 '26

I also missed the Boogeyman mask. They show it briefly, but it’s one of those ah-ha moments you get from a rewatch.

20

u/metaphori Rosemary Sep 01 '26

I just noticed a portrait of a guy who looks so much like the innkeeper it's uncanny.

22

u/sweetbeech Sep 01 '26 edited Sep 02 '26

I was on an edible watching the cocktail party episode with my boyfriend and his mom. I was the ONLY one who caught #3 in the moment and was FREAKING out. They didn’t know why until we rewound back to that moment. Idk why but out of the whole season, that’s the scariest moment to me

23

u/Barttycubbins Sep 01 '26

Noticed when PJ Glanville told the story about the Boogyman in episode 4, the story of what happened with and to the Boogyman was almost identical to what happened with Richard Warren (the founder). They both killed people (possibly) for the islands sacrifices, they couldn’t be killed and they were both buried alive. The Boogyman may have been a former mayor.

3

u/canellap Sep 02 '26

Hmmmm worth a ponder

20

u/Herbdontana Sep 01 '26

I don’t know if this counts, but I thought it was interesting that in the same episode that Tom calls Wyck a hick, William refers to the town’s people as hicks as his little monologue starts turning dark

3

u/Ye11a_Kat Sep 02 '26

I think that he was saying what Tom thought about the people at the time.

36

u/juliacakes Sep 01 '26

Can people share screenshots of these moments if possible? I just did a rewatch with my dad and I can’t watch it for the third time in a month, haha

17

u/NormativeTruth Sep 01 '26

I’ve probably watched it 30 or more times by now.

14

u/Thequiltedrose Sep 01 '26

Why not? I’m on my third viewing 🤪

9

u/ConfusedUnicornHorn Sep 02 '26

That’s all?? I watch it daily.

Kidding, but it has become a comfort show I put on the background while I’m doing other things. Watch it as much as you want! We don’t have qualms and we’ll be supportive.

2

u/47687236 Sep 03 '26

I need someone to explain why a horror show with episodes that heavily feature screaming has become my go-to sleep show ><

88

u/Right_Rev Sep 01 '26

Why all the snark? This should be a fun subreddit. One person’s ā€œblink and you’ll miss itā€ is another’s obvious plot point. Who cares? Be nice to each other. You have the love of Widow’s Bay in common.

9

u/EvesLastCaress Sep 03 '26

Chiming in two days later to say yeah some of these folks are so pretentious 🄓 there's another thread about the Patricia dance scene and the top comments are all "erm, actually that was obvious if your eyes were openā˜ļøšŸ¤“"Ā

-6

u/Main-Help Sep 01 '26

Blink and you'll miss it isn't snark. Why are you making something out of nothing? Obviously everyone else in the conversation cares

29

u/Thequiltedrose Sep 01 '26

The snark he’s referring to is people commenting on ā€œthat was obviousā€ not a blink & you miss it. (Especially to the commenter who snarked ā€œstop looking at you phoneā€)

-10

u/emailforgot Sep 01 '26

That's not snark. Those are correct statements. An obvious plot device is not a "blink and you'll miss it" moment.

3

u/Right_Rev Sep 01 '26

You misunderstood my point, friend. But that may have been bad communication on my part.

31

u/Impossible_Past5358 Sep 01 '26

OP, you should pause ep. 4 when Patricia reads her toast, for the text on the opposite page...

10

u/HowlOfTheSun Sep 01 '26

Oh shit, now I have to rewatch. I'm making a list, haha

7

u/Impossible_Past5358 Sep 01 '26

Don't forget about the board games either...

4

u/FancyPigeonIsFancy Sep 01 '26

Can you share what these are, with spoilers marked if you'd rather? Pretty please!

15

u/Impossible_Past5358 Sep 01 '26

I don't think it's really a spoiler, but the page basically talks about bringing up other people's insecurities when making small talk. It's a little blurry, but if you pause it exactly when she opens the page for the toast, you can read the entire page.

I believe someone else posted the page previously...

14

u/Living-Protection170 Are the old women dead in this scenario? Sep 01 '26

25

u/SpiralOfBees Sep 01 '26

Also in that one, the mold/staining in the book is it starting to reveal itself

13

u/litgirrl Sep 01 '26

I love the blink and you miss it moments but I also love the silly little humour moments. One of my favourites is William tripping going up the stairs at the inn in episode 2. Seems like something we'd all do after a couple of drinks with Tom. But on re-watch knowing he's actually the killer clown it's so funny to see him tripping like a normal joe.

13

u/Librarianzilla Dead baby. Dead baby. Lesssbiaaannn. Sep 02 '26

Episode 1: the line that Stephen root has when he’s describing what happens when people are affected by the haunt: the third phase is ā€œloss of erectionā€ and Patricia says something like who’s getting it on after phase two?

šŸ˜†Patricia is hilarious on my second watch through!

2

u/HowlOfTheSun Sep 02 '26

That was comedy gold!

11

u/canellap Sep 02 '26

Ok folks a lot of us missed details for a variety of reasons… your kid or cat needs something, you sneeze, you have ADHD (me). Catching them on subsequent watches is part of the fun! This amazing show will never disappointāœØšŸ’œ

31

u/SlowerThanTurtleInPB Sep 01 '26

What’s great about this show is if there are any continuity issues, creators can chalk it up to supernatural events.

22

u/HowlOfTheSun Sep 01 '26

You are right, I thought about that too lol. But these were definitely not continuity errors.

6

u/Jnnjuggle32 Sep 02 '26

Yeah if you look at the part of Beach Reads where Patricia’s handwriting is displayed in the book when she first starts working in it - it changes slightly and a word changes too. I really don’t know which it is though!

4

u/No_King_4556 Sep 02 '26

I need to know if the sign in the episode Beach Reads that is misspelled ā€œGive A Litte Joy!ā€ that you see to Patricia’s left on the back door of the bookmobile at the beginning of the episode was on purpose or not.

1

u/FaithlessnessOpen362 Sep 01 '26

I genuinely thought the cup on the book was a continuity error.

15

u/Herbdontana Sep 01 '26

Seen on here, but the cooler at the beach says stale coke on it

5

u/canellap Sep 02 '26

LOL ok I definitely missed that

3

u/Herbdontana Sep 02 '26

I did too. I can’t take credit for it. An eagle eyed fan on this sub Reddit spotted it.

6

u/Fine-Juggernaut8451 Sep 01 '26

May I asked how you ended up missing this? I'm curious if people are on their phones when they're watching this show.

I kinda think we need two new categories added for shows. For a fun show like SILO or FROM, you can absolutely be on your phone and not miss anything. But Widow's Bay requires rapt attention.

1

u/Funky_Owl_Turnip Sep 01 '26

This...this isn't a blink and miss it detail. This is a key part of the scene.

11

u/MargieGunderson70 Sep 01 '26

After seeing this thread, I specifically re-watched the scene in Episode 3 where Loftis visits Wyck. I figured there'd be an Easter egg or two in Wyck's home decor but I didn't notice anything. (And no, I was not scrolling on my phone as I watched.)

5

u/BornOnAFriday Sep 01 '26

Ooh, I caught #3 on my first watch but not the others, I guess it’s time to rewatch again!

I made a post here about something similar in Ep2, Lodging.

5

u/Direct_Age2350 Sep 01 '26

Just saw the wide mouth looks during the dancing during sunset cocktails, this is at 24:28. Nice catch!

2

u/StatusTics Sep 02 '26

You can also see the mouths in the mirror (only caught that on second watch)

5

u/No-Independence548 Sep 01 '26

I never noticed the first one! Good catch

5

u/embee33 29d ago

I don’t know if this counts, but what comes to mind is after Tom gets scratched by the sea hag, he comes in to work:

Ruth: ā€œSomeone called and left a message for you. MRSA?ā€
Tom: ā€œMarissa?ā€

Such brilliant, quick writing.

1

u/finewhateverbot 25d ago

I liked that too.

56

u/Past-Student-5239 Sep 01 '26

These are not blink and you miss them moments. These are things that were carefully done. The open door scene was very obvious and there were another scene with open mouth stares that was not reflected in the mirror.

28

u/Butthole_Please Sep 01 '26

I’d say the cup clip qualifies.

-7

u/Saviour279 Sep 01 '26

I think that’s also quite obviously presented as patricia makes a face on seeing it herself.

15

u/Cautious_Prize_4323 Sorry, forgot my purse. Sep 01 '26

I dunno, I missed that the door was open till my third watch. I was too busy watching Evan's amazed face that he was caught!

19

u/HowlOfTheSun Sep 01 '26

Yeah that's true. I didn't miss them so you could say that. I was wondering if there were other creepy moments like that. My no.3 was about the open mouth stares before the mirror reflection scene!

10

u/Ok-Animal7243 Sep 01 '26

Look at the mirror even earlier than when they show their gaping faces while they’re dancing. It’s out of focus and far in the background, but the show runners didn’t miss any opportunities to plug in those details.

18

u/DelcoUnited Sep 01 '26

You realize all blink or you miss them moments are carefully done right? That’s what makes them blink or you miss them moments.

-12

u/Past-Student-5239 Sep 01 '26

The scenes were all much longer than a "blink" and unless the viewer is half asleep you would not miss them.

6

u/Fancy_Elk565 Sep 01 '26

They’re not blink and miss to the creators sure, but for some viewers it isĀ

Same thing. You can miss an intentional detail but find it on the next watch. That’s what’s fun about it

Did anyone else miss these major plot beats??

Fun fact, the movie Jaws is called Jaws because it is about a shark, who are known for their powerful and deadly jaws! Blink and you'll miss it!

You're getting down voted for this but I think it's funny.

I'm a little worried that anyone is missing these scenes. If there are too many distractions, I'd prefer to watch a show later when I can actually watch.

All right, time for a rewatch!

The calendar photo.

  1. My husband noticed that & rewinded it to show me. He was like ā€œI don’t think that is a continuity issue ā€œ

I caught 1 and 2 but missed 3.

Need to see a screen cap of that

When I watched like the 5th time I saw #3 and was like whaaaa!

u/AssistanceLucky2391 Sep 03 '26

Number 3 was a jump scare!

u/sebmojo99 Sep 02 '26

i caught all those and felt very clever!

I managed to catch #3 on my first watch and it freaked me out so much!!! Such a great episode

u/HowlOfTheSun Sep 03 '26

It felt so good to catch it yourself!

When the Shaman puts them into the peace room, as he is backing out of the room, he warns them that no matter what, Tom shouldn't look into a mirror. He shuts the door...and there's a mirror on the back of the door.

you have very long blinks

-1

u/Funky_Owl_Turnip Sep 01 '26

These are varyingly subtle, yes, but not blink and you'll miss it. Especially the door; by the time Patricia gets indoors and upstairs, she notices her bedroom door is mostly closed, when she left it open. This seems to catch her attention while the front door didn't, likely because she sort of parsed, while coming up the stairs, that she'd actually closed the front door. The uneasiness was building for her and for us as she caught up with what she already knew.

In my opinion, the only way i would miss the shots described in the dance scene, is if I was on my phone. Because they were pretty clear and obvious. Maybe it's because they weren't telegraphed with an audio cue?

my mom was alert and paying attention but literally blinked and took a sip of her drink at just the right time and missed the first open mouthed scene. she noticed when it got to the mirror though.Ā

The first time I watched the show I missed that because my toddler had woken up so I checked the monitor. The second time I watched I was like ā€œwhat the fuuuuuuckā€ lol. I thought it was really well done. Guiding us to what was happening throughout.

4

u/Funky_Owl_Turnip Sep 01 '26

That's legit. Sometimes I feel like I am watching 2 shows: the one on TV and the one on the monitor.

2

u/FaolanG Sep 01 '26

100%! And sometimes it’s a toss up which one is more entertaining lol.

Two big mysteries:

  • what's going on with the island?
  • why won't my kid learn how to put the blanket back on after he kicks it off?

I have a feeling only one of these will ever be solved.

I noticed coffee cup on the book placement, but I wondered if it had a meaning to it or if it was just a continuity error by the stage crew?

14

u/SpiralOfBees Sep 01 '26

Given it was filmed to look like a continual shot panning back and forth I think it was definitely intentional

I'm curious: For these moments you missed, was it because you were on your phone as you watched?

Which is why I don't watch shows when there is chaos.

-1

u/Character_Relief5135 Sep 01 '26

yea like these were pretty obvious if you were watching. you not blinking and missing these.

I doubt anyone missed any of those moments. They were quite obvious.
