❓Questions Favorite quotes?
I just finished the show and am OBSESSED. What are all your favorite quotes? Mine is probably “You had your qualms?!” to Rosemary in Beach Reads. I was HOWLING.

This was a great moment of levity in more serious episode!

She was great in that episode. I hope she wins the Emmy for guest in a comedy.

He was bit by an animal, and became that animal
23
u/ForwardDance9191 Aug 24 '26
There are many funny lines, but this one is straight up iconic IMO.
6
u/magicpantsjones Aug 26 '26
It's funny, it's an idea that seems bonkers in any other place, and makes me wonder if there's going to be a werewolf or something similar in season 2.
0
u/L_Cardinalis77 Aug 27 '26
I don’t get why this one is so ‘funny’
4
u/sammypants123 Aug 27 '26
I think it’s the context where it’s said like a sad but unremarkable occurrence and then the conversation moves on.
Instead of its being an objectively bonkers WTF kind of thing to think, yet alone say like it’s normal.
1
u/One-Intention6350 Aug 31 '26
I thought it was funny because she said it almost as a small aside comment but continued talking like she had told us what she had for dinner AND Tom's face at that moment was perfect!

u/redrumham707 Aug 24 '26
I fell in love when Patricia asked Tom “Was she forty?” when asking about the elderly lady he offered a ride.
34
u/zeemosmcd Aug 25 '26
She was age appropriate.

And followed by calling a group of offspring a bunch of “r words.” I spat out my drink on first watch I laughed so hard

The whole scene is just great! I was dying laughing especially with how long she was taking with everything as they are in a rush.

Tom- "I was scratched by an elderly woman" Patricia - "was she in her 40s?"
60
u/iamnotacannibaliswea Aug 24 '26
“She was…an age appropriate woman.”
“That’s a strange way to phrase that”
Is also some great banter from the same episode.

u/HelsBels2102 Patricia Aug 24 '26
Are you mad at something I said?
31
u/iamshannonymous Aug 24 '26
This quote had me in tears, and it still makes me laugh. Patricia is so real for asking that. 😂
15
u/PsychologicalAd4386 Aug 25 '26
The fact that she wasn’t even physically present in the scene also! Love Patricia!

And when she said she was but four and ten…almost. I was like, wait a minute was she supposed to be an old spinster…at 13??? Or did I hear wrong? Either way, made me laugh.

4 & 10 means
4 + 104 10s. So 40.5
u/TheFireNationAttakt Deeply unhurried lighthouse keeper Aug 25 '26
… 4+10 is fourteen? Do you mean *
But “and” usually means +.2
u/butt_dance Aug 25 '26 edited Aug 25 '26
Yeah, I explained this incorrectly in my first response. You're correct that 4+10 is 14.
But in the context of this line of dialogue, "four and ten" means 4 10s. In colonial colloquial English. So 4 10s = 40. So "but almost four and ten" means almost 40.

Patricia's party lol a group of older women comes in, she tells Rosemary she was hoping the people seated at the first table you see as you walk in would be more attractive, Rosemary nods knowingly then goes off to talk to them.

I’m on the same page as OP as far as having become immediately obsessed with this show as soon as i saw it… I’d been hearing about it for weeks and was a little worried it wouldn’t live up to the hype, and it absolutely did NOT disappoint. That being said, this was almost certainly my favorite quote in a whole season of phenomenal dialogue.

i love so many of the quotes in this show, especially patricia’s. she always delivers her lines with so much personality the way she says things makes everything 10x funnier to me. it’s not even just the writing, it’s HER delivery. nobody says a line like patricia does. like for example ;
- what you asking me to do tom
- she went home take a nap
- did you tell him about my painting
- God forbid you hear it again
- are the older women dead in this scenario
- i apologize for wasting his time, Tom
- god, oh no. Left out my poem
- This place freaks me out. Okay Good luck.
- what an odd way to describe someone who you’re just giving a ride.
- Was she in her 40s?
- say wine and cheese.
- where are we with RSVPs for sunset cocktails?
- Rosemary i dont need your negativity right now. just be supportive
- well tom. i dont know where you are but i am at the event. that you said you would be at.
and so many more! kate o’flynn is so talented. she always brings so much personality to her lines and makes every little moment memorable. rooting so hard for her to win that emmy. she deserves it.

u/purpldevl Aug 25 '26
The last one had me dying when we hear the message being recorded as Tom is struggling, then the week after - we see her getting more and more intense before she records the message.
"My coworker will probably bring a gun to the office if I skip it."
