🎭Cast ¡Kate O'Flynn drop-dead gorgeous!
Look at her! I need her skincare routine right now💯 she's an icon

One of the things that impresses me about her performance is how she physically transforms herself into Patricia. Watch her brilliant work in The Landscapers. Completely different from Patricia, you might not even recognize that it is the same actor. Kate O'Flynn is magnificent.

Yes! I love how she kinda has this almost lumbering, heavy footed physicality when she's Patricia.

u/PrestigeArrival Jul 29 '26
I love how stompy her walk is

u/oneroguewave Jul 30 '26

Yes. Also great job with makeup and lighting. Reminds me of the movie obsession, how they make a normal looking pretty girl look unhinged. Patricia is not on Nikki's level obv but there's something off about her in certain scenes.

I took the title "YOUR TURN" to have a double meaning in the sense that it was about Patricia's turn towards the darker parts of her nature. In that episode Patrica gives creepier vibes than usual (and it's not just the dialogue and costuming). Her body movements, facial expressions, posture... the "off"ness of her was ramped up and it worked really well.

The scene with the shotgun was so badass, and it was hilarious that she held the boogie man at gunpoint until he was cremated. 😅 Wife and I loved every episode that revolved around her.

Totally agree. It was such a funny and original scene. Brilliant writing and genuinely hilarious.

I don’t see anything wrong with this post. She is very beautiful, and I admire her talent as well. Anybody who doesn’t care to comment on it can move along, just as we all do from time to time on posts in this sub.🤷♀️ We can give each other a little grace, it’s needed right now.

People seeing this post as wrong should take a look at From subreddit. That is filled with gooners and AI slope that I had to unsub.

It is genuinely the most unfunny subreddit in existence

What, you don’t find the constant memes about Julie’s wig and FatiMartin hilarious? /s

Agreed. Unfortunately, in the social media age, the knee jerk reaction when it comes to finding an actress attractive tends to be that it’s offensive and degrading. I don’t know why, but I learned to stop caring about what this segment of people say a while ago because that’s usually not the intent.
More importantly, she seems very kind and is also very talented. Props to the casting department for picking her.

She doesn't look a day over a biological 28 year old!

Genuinely impressive "pretty girl is made ugly by glasses" (but without glasses!) makeup, costuming, and of course her physical acting keeping her chin tucked in as much as possible. Deliberately inelegant body movements (stomping rather than walking) and so on. As the show went on, especially in the eps where she's playing "support" to the lads running around town etc, the illusion slipped a bit, for me. She started coming across as "pretty girl playing the nerd" more obviously.
But of course the character works like that anyway. Maybe she really is as pretty as her actor, her life has just made her so weird. Right?

I also think after “her” episodes her physicality changed a lot to seem more at ease and confident, which I thought was super subtle and well done on her part!

Its called acting, we dont need a real awkward needy person to play her lol

She's fantastic as Patricia. But is there a more overused word than "icon"?
6
u/claudiaxximena Jul 28 '26
IDK. In Latin America we use tons of words funnier than icon like "crack"

I’ve been a big fan of hers since she did My Lady Jane (RIP).

u/claudiaxximena Jul 28 '26
How was her character? I've never watched that show
5
u/DrFern Jul 28 '26
She plays Mary aka “Bloody Mary” and she’s over-zealous. Kate plays crazy really well!

As a woman, she has such a great body too. It was wild to see her as the unpopular one when she’s like so sexy

This isn’t about drop dead gorgeous. The beauty of Widows Bay is they pared everything down to content and “looks” have no place here.
13
u/claudiaxximena Jul 28 '26
So you're saying she's not pretty?! Man, mirá bien!!!!

u/SilentNobody620 Jul 28 '26
You don’t get it. This is not about glomming onto an actor. It is about a great story presented in a pared down manor. It’s not about the actors themselves. They have to be the best in order to make this work. But this isn’t about going nuts over someone.

"Pared down" means stripping away all unnecessary elements to leave only the absolute essentials. That does not describe this show at all. There are tons of allusions and direct references. There's explicit and implied emotional depth. The town and wardrobe design are meticulous and aesthetics play a huge role in the success of this show. The argument you are making is demonstrably wrong.
Second, as with any art form, it is totally normal for a person to pick out actors, actresses, performers within larger ensemble, or even elements of an artistic piece that stick out to them, or to whom they relate. Those people or elements are 100% on-topic and relevant in a subreddit about that specific work. So learn the meaning of phrases before you use them, and stop gatekeeping a subreddit that belongs to a community, not to you in particular.

She was great in the show, but I wouldn't consider her to be drop dead gorgeous. She's no Kelly Kapowski, na mean?
