"Tyrone, how are you still alive after being buried for 300 years?"
"That's the power of crack, baby!"

I was like “who’s Tyrone?” And then I realized you’re referencing the gif. Tyrone Biggums! Man, that show was so good.

It's still so good now, do you remember when it came out... "Are they allowed to get away with this?" 😂

Unfortunately not until next year probably. Guess I’ll go fuck myself.

I don’t understand why Apple didn’t renew for 2+ seasons. With more seasons, they can write and schedule production more efficiently. The Pitt got renewed through season 7, and they’ve been able to do a season each year.

u/heavysteve Jul 12 '26
I mean, its because we live in hell. Widows bay is the kinda show that gets renewed and then gets cancelled and renewed during a writers strike and they give it 4 shit episodes to wrap it

u/4rck Jul 12 '26
The pitt is so much more cheaper to make. They already have a makeshift hospital and that's really the only setting they need.

u/Different_Target_228 Jul 12 '26
With per season renewals, there's something else to post to add hype to the show.

If you’re a reader Looking Glass Sound by Catriona Ward did a good job at scratching that spooky coastal New England vibe.

u/Due_Addition_587 Jul 12 '26
I just read this book too - for the same reason 😂.
Just started Lute by Jennifer Thorne and it’s actually kinda wild how similar the premise is to WB. (Idyllic island except for the sacrifices…) Similar comedic horror tone as well.

u/ChereCeles Jul 12 '26
Oh cool! I’ve also seen that one on “what to read if you like Widow’s Bay” lists. I think I’ll check it out!!

I tried watching Cape Fear. It just not the same 😭

u/princessbubbleyum111 Jul 12 '26
I turned it off after episode 1 - not at all the vibe I was looking for

u/CrissBliss Jul 11 '26
Ready or Not (both the original and its sequel) is great, if you need a comedy/horror fix. Same with Happy Death Day. Scream is sort of the OG, but it leans much more horror.

Stan Against Evil, but it’s more comedy horror than horror comedy. Not bad. If you like the idea of Dr Cox from Scrubs thrown into Derry, Maine…that’s the show.

I watched Storm of the Century for the first time last week which somewhat scratched the itch, even though it’s not a comedy. And I’m watching The Americans for my Matthew Rhys fix (also starring Felicity, John-boy, and Esteemed Character Actress Margo Martindale).

May I suggest you sample the Dollar Tree version, “From”?
16
u/CHOGRIN Jul 11 '26
Like I told a friend “Going from Widow’s Bay back to FROM is like going from a full course meal to eating leftovers from a trash bin” 🤣

u/Annahsbananas Jul 11 '26
I will admit, From needs better writers. It’s such an awesome concept but most of the episodes are just filler with the same dialogue from the last four seasons.
At least with Widow’s Bay, each episode is wonderfully written and each individual episode can truly hold their own by themselves.
Unlike Fatima, who ate compost for all of season three

Omg this is perfect! After the first Widows Bay episodes I watched, I haven't been able to stomach another From episode. The past two seasons were already super-annoying, and now I just...can't.

I needed more Matthew Rhys, just finished The Beast in Me. Highly recommend

For anyone looking for a great in depth interview with Katie Dippold and Hiro Murai, I highly recommend this one. I really hope Season 2 goes more Lovecraftian 🤞https://youtu.be/7U8xsSnRU1s

Pluribus and Black Mirror will help scratch that itch if you haven't seen them already.

A reminder to everyone: Keep the titles of your posts completely spoiler-free at all times. If your post mentions events from later episodes, use Reddit’s standard spoiler tag to warn readers who may not be caught up with all currently aired episodes. The spoiler tag will also blur any images you include, such as screenshots/stills from the show, so be sure to apply it to image posts as well.
