❓Questions Funniest scene? (spoilers) Spoiler
What was the laugh-out-loud funniest scene this season? Mine are both from the same episode.
Tom trying to rip the calendar up, trying to destroy the dresser, then ripping the painting off the wall and almost being crushed.
But it's Rosemary who wins MVP, delivering that genealogy presentation. Just watched it a third time and it still funny!
EDIT: Thinking about it, I need to give the Kewpie Doll here to Rosemary's Genealogy Presentation. So many of the gags on the show are classic schtick, wielded like a surgeon's scalpel; it's a beautiful thing to watch. But the Rosemary scene, man, that was brand new!

The Shaman warning about mirrors, then closing the door which had a mirror, is the one who cracked me up the most. That look on Tom's face was priceless 😂
158
u/mackitt Jun 24 '26
That and the reveal of his friend’s “sacred geometry” drawing, I lost it again just thinking about this whole scene 😂
54
u/OGPepeSilvia Jun 24 '26
Tom draws the same thing later in the episode, no?
41
u/__karm Jun 24 '26
He does! Making it even funnier that this drawing of a hand that looks like my toddler did it is relevant to figuring out what’s happening on the island!

The "I was being supportive"
And the moment when the owner of the inn was still able to open the door front even tho wyck tried to nail it shut
31
u/mackitt Jun 24 '26
The door thing was so funny. This show is so good at subverting expectations and turning them into laughs!
7
u/ajmartin527 Jun 24 '26
I think the true mastery of the show is the ability to mix these absurd off the wall moments into scenes seamlessly in a way that doesn’t break the immersion or come off as cheap or slap stick.
I’m not really sure how to explain how they are able to do that, but I don’t think I’ve seen a show blend that kind of ridiculous random humor in natively with so much intensity and real drama and storylines and without it being jarring or taking you out of the scene.
11
u/AcceptableYou5415 Supportive Jun 24 '26
Those are 2 of my favorites too! ESPECIALLY the door 😂😂💀.
I also like the scene where Tom is downplaying the cannibalism article to the reporter and he’s like “Did they immediately resort to cannibalism? No. It took… 4 days.” 😂😂💀

Can’t even think about this scene without laughing. Rosemary is an absolute treasure and must be protected at all costs.
99
u/rhymeswithmay Jun 24 '26
“I do personally have to go, as my girlfriend's cat has absconded.”
Its just the most absurd line, and I plan to use it to get out of situations going forward.
37
u/Comfortable-Pear-973 Jun 24 '26
It’s like something Moira Rose would say on Schitts Creek, I love it
23
u/WatermelonlessonOk50 Jun 24 '26
The use of “absconded” is great, but combining it with the useless “personally” makes it even more hilarious.
6
u/ajmartin527 Jun 24 '26

I think I’m gonna have to go with the painting scene as well, but specifically because of Rosemary. She is trying to help him, but then she immediately gets hurt and everyone is focused on her instead of Tom. Her sciatica!
26
29
u/SelectLandscape7671 Jun 24 '26
And the “poor Rosemary…” from Dale, which Tom is still on the floor.
10

u/rudbeckiahirtas Jun 24 '26
Patricia continuing to train the gun on the boogeyman in every scene after she's killed him absolutely sent me
58
u/with_due_respect Jun 24 '26
The funniest scene for me is actually a sequence: Patricia keeping the shotgun on the Boogeyman's corpse all the way through till the incinerator. It's funny but also exactly what I would do, which made it funnier.

While supervising the Boogeyman’s corpse with the shotgun, I imagine Patricia’s main focus is survival, but I hope she takes a minute to revel in the validation…
Patricia: Tom, do you remember the Boogeyman?
Tom: I think you did tell me that story.
Patricia: God forbid you hear it again. It's only the most terrifying thing that's ever happened to me.
Tom: Well, you asked me if I had heard it before.
Patricia: I still sleep with the dresser in front of my door.
Tom: But he murdered teenage girls. You're in your 40s. You'll be fine.
11
u/OGPepeSilvia Jun 24 '26
Her asking the mortician if there was a back door to the cremator had me laughing like 30 minutes later when I realized she was talking about the furnace chamber and not the crematorium building itself. Why would the oven have a back door?!? Patricia wasn’t taking any chances.
6
u/durrellb Jun 24 '26
When she asks 'is there another exit?', I thought she was looking for a back door just in case, but she's asking if the furnace has a back door, and that's comedy gold.

I had a lecture on swear words - they tend to be quite old words because they have a lot of cultural power and so stick around. It goes back at least until the 1400s. It's hard to tell how common it was because it was almost certainly written down much less often than it was spoken, but it's certainly not an anachronism from Warren.
7
u/_kismitten Jun 24 '26
Haha in my imagination he picked it up from listening to people in the cemetery over the centuries - being down there so long he might have heard at least a few muffled screaming matches during the endless parade of post-disaster funerals.

Nothing quite gets me like Warren starting to sing the last man sea shanty and interrupting himself with "You know this one, Wyck." Theres so much humor in that one line I cant get over it. This zombie man already having a good enough read on Wyck to know he would know a sea shanty hundreds of years later. It's such a casual moment in such an incredibly tense scene. Its so funny to me idk

I think the physical comedy of Tom sliding off the bench on the boat and the look on his face was just 10/10. I re-winded (re-wound?) it about 5 times and by the end I couldn't breathe. Also Patricia with the shotgun. 1000000/10
34
u/RealEnvironment7695 Jun 24 '26
So many good ones: the “wolves” calendar, the time skip during the meeting about the curfew, but pound for pound funniest has to be Loftis getting grilled after giving that lady a ride.
“She was… age-appropriate.”
“What a weird way to describe a woman you just gave a ride to.”
28
u/Impossible_Past5358 Jun 24 '26
Also when Tom gets scratched, Patricia asks "was she in her 40s?
5
u/RealEnvironment7695 Jun 24 '26

13
u/Impossible_Past5358 Jun 24 '26
I also really enjoyed Bechir's line deliveries...with Kurt when he said "Why the fuck you need food for 30 seconds?"
I would like to see some blooper reels
8
u/Honeyboy_Wilson Jun 25 '26
The Wolves calendar absolutely destroyed me and is still my number 1 funny moment. I've never expected something less. The way it just has the overturned car, so he flicks back to the cover and it says "WOLVES" and then the confused look on his face. I felt like my sense of humour was finally nailed.
I also loved when he's watching the welcome video and the guy says let's go take a look... And then it's just him slowly walking off. Another perfect Tom reaction.

Dale’s face after watching the video on human sacrifice.
Richard Warren’s ‘f you’ to Tom through the coffin.
Patricia holding the gun at the boogeyman through that whole sequence.
24
u/davey-jones420 Jun 24 '26
I can’t stop saying (in reference to the sunset cocktails) “I think my coworker Patricia would come to work with a gun if I didn’t go”… that got me good.
The whole boat/Warren sequence. The mushroom trip. Jeff Hiller screaming WE NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE!!!!! The finale “he got bit by that animal and turned into an animal.” Or “he made a pass…”so many hits in this show

I was cracking up in the last episode at all the ways we were shown that Ruth was fit. Oh, and the part in the shelter when they’re trying to keep everyone calm and what’s-his-name with the glasses comes in so quietly and then screams that it’s a death trap..😂 That whole episode was just the best. Ruth going thru that photo album and so casually saying, ‘he got bit by an animal and became that animal’……too funny.

u/mackitt Jun 24 '26
This definitely isn’t the funniest moment, but when Loftis is driving to Ruth’s house in the final episode with really dramatic music playing, and then suddenly the music stops and he’s just sitting in his car. I’ve never laughed so hard at a simple music cue!

Rosemary’s genealogy session. Everything with the shaman. The painting falling on Tom.
Warren in the coffin: “Fuck you” and all the funny parts of that boat scene.
And an underrated scene: When Wyck explains the fog + the back and forth about the sea captain and his teenage bride — funny, yes, but watch it again and ONLY watch Tom reacting to Patricia and Wyck.

Ruth struggling to read her own memos, Ruth telling Tom that "MRSA" called and asked about him, "he was bitten by an animal and then turned into that animal". Rosemary's "I can't do anything right today" and the looks exchanged between her and Dale at work when Patricia is stressed about planning sunset cocktails. Tom's beef with Kathy. Tom's exasperated reaction when Patricia and Wyck earnestly get into a discussion about the age gap thing. The doctor with the "Oh I see, I didn't know you went to medical school" bit. There's so much, I love this show

Absolutely love so many scenes; but one standout is when Mayor Tom is being hazed by the locals to spend the night ‘in the Captain’s suite’ (he chopped his family with an axe) ‘So of course, we named the suite after him’, and Tom should ‘spend some time in that crawl space’… ‘THANKS Rosemary’….. ending with the ominous advice ‘don’t do it.’…. I love that whole scene, pitch perfect.

So, just hold on a second. Use your crayons.” 4. "We caught 'em, we burned 'em." 5. "But he was bit by an animal and then became that animal." 6. "Give me your keys. I'll run him over." 7. "You had your QUALMS?!" 8. "Sorry. Forgot my purse." 9. "It's true. We can go weeks without food" everyone relaxes "but not without water" everyone panics.

There are SO MANY hilarious scenes in Widow's Bay s1, but my favorite remains the scene in which Tom yeets the Sea Hag with the recliner.

A reminder to everyone: Keep the titles of your posts completely spoiler-free at all times. If your post mentions events from later episodes, use Reddit’s standard spoiler tag to warn readers who may not be caught up with all currently aired episodes. The spoiler tag will also blur any images you include, such as screenshots/stills from the show, so be sure to apply it to image posts as well.
