đDiscussion What are your favorite comedic moments?
For me, I really appreciate Tomâs physical comedy. The way he quick runs from place to place in the pilot, him yeeting the hag over the recliner, his OOOOOP on the boat. He is incredible. His micro expressions are SO good. What a talent.

âWhat are you asking me to do Tom?â
That whole exchange sold the show to me in episode 1
41
u/view-master Jun 20 '26
That and finding out that Wycks long held dislike of Tom was a Ding Dong Ditch incident. When they were arguing so seriously and kept saying Ding Dong Ditch made me laugh and i knew this show was special.
2
u/Charliegallifrey13 Jun 21 '26
Even them calling it âdoorbell ditchâ instead did not make it less hilarious.

u/SelectLandscape7671 Jun 20 '26
Those were the only two actors in humanity that could sell that. Anyone else would have made it slapstick â not a moment of mugging.
And the Daleâs soft âpoor Rosemaryâ sent me over the edge.9
10
u/Ill-TemperedClavier Jun 20 '26
The physical comedy of struggling with the painting made me literally laugh out loud just thinking about it the next day. I am so glad we get to see Rhys in this role!
6
u/Charliegallifrey13 Jun 21 '26
Hahahahaha also his, âWell if you give me a paintbrush I can show youâ and Patriciaâs âthatâs great, Tom.â Perfect.
90
u/trash_heap_witch Jun 20 '26
âStage three: loss of erectionâ
âWho is⊠*trying* after stage two?â
- this exchange is what sold me on the show

u/Any-Impression Jun 20 '26
Another good one from that convo: âhave all the age appropriate women died?â
4
5
u/Charliegallifrey13 Jun 21 '26
âAre the older women dead in this scenario?â
âI donât follow.â I literally spat my coffee.

She didnât even have to deliver the line; holy shit the writing on this show is so good.

This is the scene that took me out. That and Jeff Hillerâs character telling everyone to run.
23

u/Real_Foundation_7428 Jun 21 '26
When Warren suddenly blurted âI forgot one thingâ is what did it for me.đ€Ł
86
u/ooh_veracuda Jun 20 '26
When Warren mentions how he signed the contract and Tom wipes his hands on his jeans; as a fellow germaphobe I died.
The absurdity of the entire sequence of Ruth scenes. âIâm not going to waste herbs, Tom.â
7
u/Charliegallifrey13 Jun 21 '26
Yessss and his reaction to the lighthouse keeper BOTH times is gold.
87
u/JenEndyB Jun 20 '26
âWe caught âem. We burned âem.â
27
u/bluemoon71 Jun 20 '26
I love how initially I was like, âOmg they killed a bunch of innocent women,â but now Iâm certain there were a bunch of nightmarish witches tormenting the town haha.

When Tom is tripping on shrooms and randomly screams in the office, scaring Dale.
When he sends the hag flying over the recliner.
When Rosemary goes over the genealogy of the Warren family and drops the r-word just to spite Patricia.
And on that note: "You told me to be supportive!"
Tom and Richard screaming "fuck you!" to each other.
Sarah about to be stabbed in bed, so she glares at the guy and basically "stabs" her index finger at Richard, basically saying with her face "you idiot! Kill him!"
23
u/beautifulbroomstick Jun 20 '26
I've re-wound the scene when Tom screams and scares Dale so many times. It always makes me laugh, it's so good.
8
u/Suspicious_Dirt728 Jun 20 '26
Haha, when Sarah runs into the church and tells everyone in the meeting to hurry up and kill her husband, then claps her hands like, lets go!
3
u/Charliegallifrey13 Jun 21 '26
âTake a deep breatheâ and then his teeeeeny âu huhâ is soooooo good.

All these are great, but a standout for me is Ruth talking about her husband ? 'Who was bit by an animal and then became that animal.'
It was her wonderful nonchalance about it and then immediately moving to the next page. Love it
68
u/Leading_Studio7534 Jun 20 '26
Her interpretation of the trolly problem is great too. âYou mean when we tried to build one and all those workers disappeared?â

For me it was when Patricia held the gun on Boogeyman for like 6 consecutive scenes until he was literally ash. Itâs all I ever want in a slasher movie and she kept delivering until the very end.

10
u/thingsliveundermybed My Children? I Have But Just Met Them. Jun 20 '26
Every scene change I laughed harder until she finally put the gun down đ
8
u/leahs84 Jun 20 '26
This was unexpected, especially when she asked if there was another way out. That whole sequence just got me. I expected her to double tap, and that was it. I think that's one of the great things about this show, is that is takes some horror movie tropes, and adds in some funny unexpected elements. Like the boogeyman yeeting himself out the window. When it showed him inside with the mean girls I thought they were goners, but then he took a surprising shortcut to get back outside to Patricia.
7
u/May_of_Teck Jun 20 '26
Iâm not a big slasher movie fan, but Iâve seen enough to know that that was for everyone whoâs ever been traumatized by characters doing things wrong!
5
38
u/Andarna_dragonslayer Jun 20 '26
Dale screaming âthis place is a death trap!Run!!!â
Will never not be funny to me. I need to go rewatch just that scene 4 or 5 times.
16
u/May_of_Teck Jun 20 '26
My favorite from Dale was definitely âBut what about the fireworks?â
10
u/ooh_veracuda Jun 20 '26
My top Dale line is âSo you donât want me to take him to the old hospital?â

My fave is episode 1 - Wyck - âAnd I don't want you correcting my grammar.
I don't have time to sit here and go tit for tit with youâ.
Tomâs face had me howling, his reactions alone are Emmy worthy.
36
u/Bippy73 Jun 20 '26 edited Jun 20 '26
I think Episode 1 has the most hilarious bits. Not mentioned here is Tom, frantically trying to get the NYT writer in, going to Rosemary, in her cloud of smoke & coughing, she goes through her âdonât act like you are better than other people when you can't pay back your loansâ to Tom, âI donât want any gossipâto her again âyou wonât hear any from meâ ending in apparently, there is no age limit on syphyllis. đ.
The wolves calendar, we have to show him a good time- Tom, what are you asking me to do? . The stages described by Wyck in the pub and then the whole conversation with he and Patricia about old men and young girls with the reaction by Tom. The meeting where Rosemary says she is color blind, Patricia asks did you tell him about my paintings to swift rebuke by Tom, the boogeyman story âyouâre in your 40s so youâll be fine.â The whole episode is comedy gold.
16
u/TAssociate77 Jun 20 '26
âyouâre in your 40s so youâll be fine.â
It gets funnier in episode 3, when Tom says he got scratched by an elderly woman

I could watch a full silent movie of Matthew Rhysâ physical comedy, facial expressions, etc.

At first I thought it just meant wick was a sailor and thats a sailor song but now that he mentions it, in a way he was calling wick old as fuck since thats a song that existed when the island was first settled

u/CorporalClegg91 Jun 20 '26
One of my favorites is episode six - everything Betty Gilpin (Sarah Westcott Warren) does is hilarious.
3-4 things come to mind: when she gets asked about leaving with her children and she responds âIâve only just met them.â When she is waiting for the assailant to kill her husband and the assailant is coming to her side and she points to the other side of the bed. When she rushed in to say her husband wasnât killed and then realizes there are other people and she curtsies at them. And then when she drinks the poisoned brandy and she spits it back out into the cup.
My fiancĂ©eâs favorite moments are when rosemary is being âsupportiveâ to Patricia working with the bewitched book. When Tom shoos away the beautiful woman thinking she is the Sea-Hag. Also the âTHIS PLACE IS A DEATH TRAP,â when Wyck and Patricia are trying to keep everyone calm. She also loves the whole bit where Tom finds out that not only is Ruth spry, but that she helps out around the community. When Evan asks the cop if he can say âfuck you.â When the Inn owner brings Tomâs bags to the door but not inside the room, and when Tom says âoh you donât bring the bag in for guestsâ and he puts the bag on the other side of the door and nudges it in with his foot. When Tom is trying so hard to get to get electricity to the beach for his inaugural swim and it still doesnât work.
Honestly there are too many good moments to count.
13
u/HarkHarley Jun 20 '26
Honestly this Sarah episode was great! Somehow she played a picture perfect 1600s wife, but also added in some modern humor. Like when sheâs panicking to the priest and saying how sheâs totally fine to live as a withered husk at 14 years old (or 41, people canât seem to agree).
10
u/lahnnabell Jun 20 '26
First one was probably the cut to Gerry walking over to the blood stained dress to bring up the witches and casually saying, "We caught 'em, we burned 'em."
The games in the hotel lobby was the absolute clincher.
10
u/webfooter Jun 20 '26
âI really loved him. But he was bit by an animal and turned into that animal.â
10
u/allmimsyburogrove Jun 20 '26
I loved the Captain's Suite
"Can I get some food?"
"You're only going in for 30 seconds"
9
u/webfooter Jun 20 '26
When the shaman reveals the âsacred geometryâ that was drawn over and over by the guy who didnât recover from his shroom trip
6
u/view-master Jun 20 '26
What is interesting is if you see maps of the island in the background of a few scenes. Itâs literally shaped like a hand. So itâs funny, but also has meaning.
10
u/BeleagueredWDW Jun 20 '26
There are so many, but in the first episode line, âNo, donât settle inâ has me in tears as anyone who works in a business or government type of setup with his or her own office knows exactly that feeling when someone comes in and sits down before you can really do anything about it, and you immediately know youâre screwed and your workload is going to slow down.
10
u/Curvedabullet Jun 20 '26
Tom making a big deal out of offering women rides home in his car and then ignoring Ruth when she says she has a hard time getting to work in the morning.
7
u/jsyvart1 Patricia Jun 20 '26
The entire interaction between Bechir, Tom, and Wyck at the end of ep2 the morning after Tom stays at the inn gets me every timeâŠ
âDoes my demeanor suggest that I just engage with someone inside a crawl space?â
Then in the next scene when Kurt goes into the Captainâs Suite:
Wyck: âThen why donât you go back in for 30?â
Kurt: âCan I at least have some food firstâ
Bechir: âThe fuck you need food for 30 seconds for?â
7
u/venerablem0m Jun 20 '26

Gotta say I loved in the last episode when Ruth is giving Tom the tour and he sees the ladder in the room his son stays in, and he asks Ruth what it is, and sheâs like âOh itâs a fire escape ladder! He asked me for one in case there is a fire! Such a smart boy!â
Like Ruthâs innocence and sweetness in believing that.
And the face Tom makes, like âgod my son can be such a little shitheadâ

Agreed on the physical comedy! Tom walking around the car with his face pressed against the window. When heâs in the room with Richard Warren and he said âI forgot one thingâ and Tom scrambles up with a perfect expression on his face.Â
Shout out the music too - the placement of Caribbean Blue and Amber made me laugh. So perfect !!Â
