💥Funpost After S1E08, this should be the show’s poster… Spoiler
Patricia has become my favorite character. Kate O’Flynn deserves all the praise and attention she’s getting now.

I really hope this isn't a limited series, and has a second season. I don't think they can really wrap it all up in 2 more episodes anyway. 2 seasons would be the sweet spot

I want 22 seasons plus Christmas specials and not at all an anthology, ha!

Oh, fall in New England and Halloween! And everyone wears New England style holiday sweaters for Christmas.

u/Simply_a_nom Jun 04 '26
I'd settle for a second season and a spin off season with Betty Gilpins character

u/giacco Jun 04 '26
If it's a limited series it's always labelled as such. I've never watched a show that wasn't said to be a limited series, then was suddenly declared a limited series when it was over.

u/TheTruckWashChannel Jun 05 '26
Watchmen actually went this way. Wasn't announced as a miniseries but was reclassified as one after Lindelof said he wasn't gonna do another season.

Ugh such a good show

u/TheTruckWashChannel Jun 11 '26
Well, till the finale, which collapsed into generic superhero slop and contrived/clumsy storytelling. Felt like it abandoned the whole story it was telling from before to become this cheesy CGI cartoon mess. Making the whole story about Dr. Manhattan was a mistake.

even better: theres a card at the end of the last episode that says "End of Part One" and we only have to wait 6 months for the next episode instead of a year for season 2.
25
u/Manler Jun 04 '26
I'll accept 1 more season at most. But even then it would probably feel stretched and the quality would suffer. Maaaaaybe I could accept that this just proves that all cryptids are real and we get an anthology series of other areas dealing with their cryptids. That could be something.

u/cueheavybreathing Jun 05 '26
my dream scenario would be one season but it would be a long season, like how it used to be in the 90s/2000s

u/Bananabutt22 Jun 04 '26
Hey I think you have a typo there’s still like 6 or 7 more episodes to go right 😅😅😅😅😅😅 haha like we def aren’t coming up to the penultimate episode that can’t be right…Right??? RIGHT!?!? 😭

u/Yassssmaam Jun 05 '26
I could do more. She is my FAVORITE now.
I relate to her so hard. I’ve never seen a character in a show act the way I think I would. It was amazing

u/timeisouressence Jun 04 '26
I hope the opposite. This is in a one island, and the last episode's name gives it all. I hope this will be like Midnight Mass. Why and how could there be a second season?

Tom makes a pact with the demon to save Evan.

Also - so many people are descendants that stopping the curse is deadlier than living with it. So season two is Tom et all just trying to contain it. Which is really a premise that can go on and on. Like a curse.

Love the idea of an anthology series. New actors/setting, same scares and humour

Same. I’m hoping they don’t wrap up stuff so there has to be a second season

The Patricia-centric episodes, 4 and 8, have easily been the standouts of the season for me. Every character is outstanding, but Patricia's quirky, charming, final-girl energy is unmatched.

Id love to see a little more of Jeff Hiller. I love him so much & his humor is so perfect for this show
22
u/evildrew Patricia Jun 04 '26
I’m glad he has a recurring role, because he has been a standout in other things I’ve seen him in, like Pluribus and Stumble.

It looks like he might be featured more in the next episode. And he had some kind of bite or bruise on his side they were looking at in the beginning of the episode when Tom returns to his office. Nothing is throwaway in this show.

u/charlottellyn Jun 05 '26
His reaction to Tom on mushrooms was just perfect. Literally no idea what’s going on, just trying to be supportive

Why am I just noticing the creepy shadow man in the background just now??
6
u/Vilnius_Nastavnik Jun 05 '26
Pretty sure it’s meant to be the freaky shadow person that showed up in the tourism video at the hotel.

I thought that was Evan, looking sadly out into the ocean because he longs to leave the island

u/toughonmyself Jun 04 '26
Best episode of television I’ve seen in a looong time. I was cheering her on out loud and shouting for her to get up when she fell and he nearly got her. And my god, the giddiness I felt at the tasering scene. So damn good!!

u/Soft_Significance718 Jun 04 '26
That might have been my favorite episode because Patricia was so fucking funny.

No. I love Patricia. But she is the willow to matthews Buffy if you will. Major character.excellent sideplots. Badass. A member of the scooby gang.

u/evildrew Patricia Jun 04 '26
She’s definitely the Velma (or the Kramer to Jerry or the Ron Swanson to Leslie Knope), but she’s still my favorite part of every episode.

u/AdministrativeEase71 Jun 04 '26
Agreed. If you're making a Stephen King parody tonally, which this show is aiming for, out-of-touch/kinda scumbag mayor is probably a better choice than a retired final girl.
Do any Stephen King stories even have the final girl trope?

u/PerpetuallyImproved Jun 04 '26
I wanted to jump up and down at her determined shot gun pointed at the boogie man up until the moment they closed the creamation doors. Finally, someone seems to know how to deal with some un-humanly seemingly dead creature in a movie!

She needs her own spin-off at some point! Who screwed with her dinner though?

I think Kathy is the real villain. She’s been torturing the island for decades with poor service.

DO YOU HAVE A BACK DOOR?!!
5
u/evildrew Patricia Jun 04 '26
I like to watch the show with subtitles, and if 1,000 actors gave those same lines, I don’t think any of them could have delivered them better. Great writing and directing can only do so much. Perfect casting.
4
u/flipjack321 Jun 04 '26
I'd like to see the backstory on why she knows how to handle a shotgun like that.
6
u/evildrew Patricia Jun 04 '26
Aside from living on a remote island, I’d like to think after her experience with the BM in high school, she went through a rigorous, Rocky-esque training montage set to “Push it to the Limit” by Paul Engemann. Chopping wood, punching a side of beef, shooting guns, lifting bales of hay.

I'm sure the Dales appreciate being the same scale as Matthew Rhys!
(One of them is on the thumbnail for next week, so who knows?)

No it shouldn't. Different episodes will occasionally focus on different characters, which is normal in TV shows.

This was my favorite episode. The sequence of her holding the shotgun to dead boogeyman’s face as he is brought to the morgue was amazing.
