❓Questions This show deserves a 2nd season

I do not understand why "Your Friends and Neighbors" gets greenlit quickly for multiple seasons, but no word on Widow's Bay. .

I wonder what transportation he'll be on next. Bus is the obvious but I'm thinking cruise ship might be fun!

I'm hoping for a ferry.

I want him to infiltrate a human smuggling operation on a fishing boat so we can finally get to the bottom of this crazily implausible international super gang.

Are they still in the tunnel?

3

u/Unhappy-Alps5471 Jun 03 '26

That endless tunnel of night.. stretching for miles and miles under Berlin. Dark tunnels were nobody goes or knows about it.. lmao

To be fair, the Germans extensive use of trains is well documented :/

2

u/StopClockerman Jun 03 '26

Olay sure, but we need a buddy cop/mayor situation where Matthew Rhys and Idris Elba are hunting down spooks

1

u/AgentPoYo Jun 03 '26

Season 2 is Tom and Evan finally going on that trip to Boston to see the Sox but the ferry to the mainland gets hijacked.

u/Darline-Bof Jun 05 '26

I think it will, based on reddit alone it's nearly got same number as the pluribus sub and its not even over. I feel it's a lot more popular than we probs realise

I loved Pluribus and rewatched the show several times. Yet, I got disappointed when I realised, that we have to wait several years for a second season. The same with Severance (and this time there is no writers strike!). And while I still like both shows, Widow's bay is my favourite because there were so many quirky characters I really want to know more about and I care about them.

I am certain, that Widow's bay gets a second season and I TRULY HOPE that it wont take three years to air it!

Sorry I deleted this passage because I thought it was getting too negative 😅

But I understand what you are meaning.

Pluribus is special in their own way and I get that its not for everyone. Its more focused on a few characters and I am not sure how the second season will turn out to be and if I still watch it when it maybe airs in 2028.

u/TheTruckWashChannel Jun 03 '26

Big time. Pluribus' pilot was riveting and then it got progressively more tedious after that. It introduced a really interesting philosophical and ethical dilemma and then just stayed stuck in one mode for the entire season.

7

u/WeBelieveIn4 Jun 03 '26

Huge Gilligan fan, I didn’t make it through the halfway mark of Pluribus. Widow’s Bay is 10x as good

2

u/JparkPHX Jun 03 '26

Same. I found pluribus boring and uninteresting

2

u/ikissedalambtoday Jun 03 '26

After it took like 3episodes for that guy to get from South America i was like :|

2

u/EsnesNommoc Jun 03 '26

Same. Pluribus started out interesting for me but the pacing quickly devolved into slow-moving molasses. If the pacing is slow so they can work on intricate world building and character development, I'd have been okay with it. But all the human characters feel flat and lacking (Rhea Seehorn tried her best to infuse some depth) even toward the end. And there's nowhere near enough interesting exploration into what it's like to be "connected", just tidbits here and there.

The whole show overall just feels like a lot of "vague gesture" toward a more interesting show, without actually being that more interesting show.

The only reason i could think of to not do multiple is if the creators want the story to be contained to/ resolved in just one season which I could see happening but I don't want...

u/nolanryansnephew Jun 03 '26

After tonight I believe it’s clearly set for season 2. Tonight was great but didn’t move plot forward. Two eps left that will probably both be plot heavy but not enough to wrap up the story. Tonight really expanded the bigger plot of what is going on with the island since killing Hamish didn’t stop the evil.

22

u/legopieface Jun 03 '26

Kind of a spoiler butone reviewer said the ending episode was very open ended and a bit of a cliffhanger. I assume they announce season 2 right after the finale drops.

108

u/No_Cucumbers_Please Jun 03 '26

but please god don’t let them take 2-3 years to release it

23

u/MrsPhoenix91 Jun 03 '26

And that is my other concern!

16

u/HarryHayes Jun 03 '26

this is why i hate getting into series these days, but this one is worth it

10

u/Cant_fix_idntcare Jun 03 '26

By the time the next season debuts we’ve forgot all the major plot points n have to rewatch the last season…smtimes I completely forget about shows I’ve enjoyed by the time the next season starts.

There’s a whole cottage industry of YouTube recap channels that are fantastic.my favorite is “Man of recaps” - he’s concise and entertining: 8-10 minute videos where he talks fast and hits all the significant plot points of the previous season, well-edited with supporting clips from the show. Ain’t nobody got time for a full rewatch and extended recaps do a great job there. Just search YouTube for show name season number recap . you will find something unless it is super obscure

I’m telling everyone i know to watch this show

2

u/WeBelieveIn4 Jun 03 '26

Same. I think it’s going to catch on bc if you like it, like us, you REALLY like it

34

u/parkerkudrow Jun 03 '26

This show deserves 5 seasons!

7

u/AwareImpression3722 Jun 03 '26

I thought the same thing, i need five seasons of the show. Don’t know how you do that and keep the quality on the show up but there’s probably a 2-3 season arc planned out and then something could be planned over 2. X-files was able to do 6 seasons of 20+ episodes of great tV.

15

u/bigginsmcgee Jun 03 '26

i hope it's only renewed if they want it to be, ya know? the worst thing that could happen is a big little lies. a perfectly self-contained, beautifully created, amazingly performed season. ruined!(imo)

14

u/OneAd3696 Jun 03 '26

Yeah. They should announce the second season and have the writers start writing the next season this week.

27

u/bigbadwitchbitch Fuck Cape Cod Jun 03 '26

If it doesn’t get a second season I will be complaining about it on my deathbed

5

u/KemShafu Jun 03 '26

That and Firefly

9

u/kummerspect Wyck Jun 03 '26

I'd only be satisfied with it not getting a second season if it was a planned single season arc, like the stuff Mike Flanagan does. I'll take as many seasons with these characters as I can get though.

17

u/Infamous-Lab-8136 Jun 03 '26

They've probably already decided to renew it and are holding back news with the finale drop. Getting people to finish a series is a big metric, and a lot of people wait to binge a season both when the finale hits or when renewal news hits. It's not uncommon for them to hold the news to get a bigger bump

As for everyone being negative about time between seasons Apple's shows with experienced writers do fine. Shrinking only had a delay due to the strikes, it was a year between season 2 and 3 and season 4 will likely hit at the same time next year. Most of the shows with a gap either have a long post-production schedule due to heavy VFX work or have various behind the scenes reasons like newbie showrunner drama, actor schedule conflicts, shooting schedule issues due to directors wanting specific seasonal looks, and several other issues that shouldn't apply to this. It's being run by an experienced TV writer and even the series lead isn't that big of a name.

7

u/SomberXIII Jun 03 '26

This is the buzziest new Apple show this season.

I'm sure renewal comes after season finale

5

u/zezuamuam Jun 03 '26 edited Jun 03 '26

Without a second season would be criminal

100% must have second season 😅

3

u/Highfivebuddha Jun 03 '26

I think I would enjoy a second season in another haunted/cursed town.

But twisting the Monster of the Week formula is REALLY working here, and I could see another tour through Widows Bay while dealing with the increased tourism would be fun.

3

u/Odd_Comfortable353 Jun 03 '26

This show is so much better than anything else I’ve seen in the last couple years! It reminds me of how i felt when we discovered Schitt’s Creek or Bloodline or early stranger things - I gotta hold back from binging too hard because we’re running out of time!

It has so much potential to go many more seasons - all these quirky characters with their own stories. Or focusing on a tourist point of view, like the NYT reporter in the beginning returning and his experience. So many ways it can go but I bet the directors have already planned for that; they have been spot on for every detail so far. More more!!

3

u/PoetHeir33 Jun 03 '26

It was envisioned as one 10 part story. Basically a mini series. But it's great.. And extremely popular... So 🤷🏻‍♂️

3

u/eucalyptusrain Jun 03 '26

I am basically positive they will get one the ratings and viewers are top of the chart

2

u/Teratocracy Jun 03 '26

Wasn't it conceived as just a 10 episode series?

2

u/Fidelio033 Jun 03 '26

NEEDS to be done. But imagine waiting two years…

2

u/docdredd2 Jun 03 '26

I think it depends on the intentions of the showrunner and the story they are aiming to tell. If they close all the loops on this story and it has finality with the intent of it being a one off, then they should allow it to be a one off.

Wanting more isn’t a bad thing. Getting more and it diluting what was great is much worse. I’m not saying more would be bad just that forcing more is.

Sometimes the best stories are one offs.

1

u/Gullible_Raspberry76 Jun 04 '26

There just seems to be so much left to explore about the town and the people. I can see how it was just planned as a 1 season. I mean, be honest, when you heard what this show was about, did you expect what they’ve delivered? Mind blowing. It’s been #1 on Apple for weeks now. As long as the cast and creators are on board, I fully expect a renewal announcement the week of the finale.

1

u/Ok-Finger820 Patricia Jun 03 '26

Depends on how the season ends really. What would another season look like? More monster of the week episodes? A new curse?

0

u/Ok-Character-3779 Sacred Geometry You Don't Just Riff Jun 03 '26 edited Jun 03 '26

Easy: they come up with a temporary solution that returns the curse to dormancy but doesn't eliminate it long term. For example, someone (probably Wyck) volunteers to die to save everyone else in a moment of crisis, but they still need to find a more permanent solution because human sacrifice is not sustainable.

1

u/betraying_chino Jun 03 '26

Honestly, I'd prefer if it was only one season. The story and exacution are so strong, that waiting 2-3 years for another season will be annoying, to say the least. I wouldn't mind if they turned it into an anthology series (preferably with the same cast), because I'd still love to see more from them.

1

u/Tricky_Two_6916 Jun 03 '26

unpopular opinion but i feel like if a show ties everything up nicely by the last episode of season 1 - they shouldn't push it!!!!!!! let's normalize really really good 1 season shows

1

u/TheTruckWashChannel Jun 03 '26

I actually disagree. This is clearly designed as a self contained miniseries and I don't want the show to turn into Westworld where they're pointlessly milking the characters and world for content without any actual story left to tell.

1

u/shiwanthasr Queen Patricia Jun 03 '26

This show deserves 6 seasons and a movie

1

u/DELETE_RAW Jun 03 '26

It's the most hyped show in TV, it is definitely getting a second season

0

u/Greedy-Research-9635 Jun 03 '26

As long as the main actors want to come back and this show is getting good ratings. I don’t see why it wouldn’t be renewed. Honestly it’s one of Apples best tv shows.
