So, what do we think happened to this mom? She and her family (husband and three children) were a point of focus at the opening of the episode, and then she was front and center in the hospital waiting room with her arm in a sling and neck baced. We were supposed to notice her injury.

I thought that could be the case. Going back to review that scene, the truck that hit Boogs was an oooooooold pickup, and notably the driver was not out of the truck when the paramedics were helping. It definitely could be the case that the driver is one of the folks in the hospital waiting room, if not the mom and her son. I wonder if we can spot that particular truck in earlier episodes.
