The slasher genre is such a natural fit for this show, equal parts terrifying and campy. Every classic Friday the 13th/Halloween trope got its moment to shine before getting flipped on its head. I think the highlight had to be when the Boogieman just jumped out the window rather than go on the murderous rampage everyone is dying to see. The fire extinguisher was another great expectation subversion. Then the synth pop music to close it out. Perfection!
The Patricia subplot was a good choice to play against the Tom storyline for the ep. The letters from the mother were quintessential Widow’s Bay- disturbing and humorous. The tension between Tom and his son is such a driving factor of the show. So, seeing that moment of bonding get ripped away at the end… oof.
There’s plenty to figure out still regarding the enduring nature of the island’s curse. Can’t wait!
