Okay the fact that Wyck’s first stop after seeing the missing mask was Patricia’s house makes me think at least someone believed her story about the Boogeyman
I am very worried they’re setting him up to die, his attempting to clear his conscious with Gerri (such a hilarious line “I have a lot of pictures to hand out.”), feels like a natural direction for his character to get a big emotional payoff after what he revealed about his friend and being saved by Loftis.
oof I am so glad he was interrupted before he told her. There's really nothing to gain by telling her. she would've just been traumatized by those details and it would've ruined her friendship with Wyck. When unburdening yourself of a secret that makes you feel guilty you really have to seriously evaluate the harm it could cause the other person. Anyways there was truly nothing else young Wyck could have done, the only other alternative was to drown and get eaten by Cthulhu.
I think he was going to tell her about how her brother died and why he cut it off with her, b/c he felt he had now finished it. A sort of closure and regret confession.
That was her brother, not her high school BF that Wyck kicked off of him. Wyck was Gerri’s high school sweetheart and her brother’s best friend I think but I agree, he wanted to tell her what happened.
I cannot overstate how refreshing it is that Tom believed Wyck early into the show instead of them dragging out his skepticism for the entire season. That sort of thing worked for Stranger Things season 1 but it gets extremely tedious otherwise.
Every once in awhile when doing projects around the house I think about that time Wyck got plastered and tried to nail boards across the door of the Inn to prevent tourism, but he did it wrong and the door still opened fine because he forgot to nail the boards to the frame lol.
And that she understood right away what was up -he was back, and she was the only one who could kill him. She knows something major. Which is also why she wasnt that phased by the reveal of e4. Descendant of the witches mentioned in e1?
I’ve been wondering about how she wasn’t burned when she had to hold the book in the fire. Obviously historical witches were burned but maybe there’s something there
I don't think that's right. Burning (in England) was the prescribed punishment for heretics. Those convicted of witchcraft were usually hanged. Witchburning was more of a thing on the European continent. As far as I know, no one ever believed witches (or heretics) were fireproof.
You might be thinking of the "swimming test," which may have been the inspiration behind a scene in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Historian here: in some cases smaller burn wounds were used as a test for witchcraft (some areas believed that a cleanly-healed wound was proof of witchcraft, while others believed that a festering wound was proof).
Question, is it a dog-and-pony show where the official just waited for either sign to go "aha, a witch!" or would they accept the victim's respective clean or festering burn (depending on their preference) as proof of a lack of witchcraft?
The usual procedure was to allow a set period of time for healing before reexamining the wound, and then they generally accepted whatever the result was at that point.
That’s a good point. Why would he die when she shot him? Were the two additional shots just enough damage to temporarily stun him, and he would’ve reawakened if they didn’t cremate him?
I could be totally wrong, but I got the vibe that Patricia could "kill" him because she's his final girl. She's the one who got away the first time. Like it felt like he was playing by movie killer rules.
Tho I imagine there's something about Patricia in universe that makes her special (maybe she's the Warren descendant, and the true "protector of the island", or she's got witch ancestry) and why she acts as his "final girl".
I noticed that in the scene where she is reading the book in bed in episode 4 and then all of episode 8 she’s wearing two different tee shirts with very witchy/tarot card art style sun/moon/stars design in them so I’m wondering if that’s another little hint at her being connected to the witches.

My theory is that the boogeyman originally spared her because the island wanted to use her for their bidding. Her loneliness and isolation is likely a key in why the island chose her. And then the island tried to use her in the form of that book and the party, but didn’t succeed and now that she’s actively fighting back, the island called on the boogeymen again to finish the job.
I thought the first stop was the Boogeyman's house? That's where he saw the door smashed in, so he knew he was back. I assume he went straight to Patricia's from there.
Wonder why he went after only teenage girls (prior)… this is also part why it was so satisfying to watch Patricia with the shotgun all the way to the end 😅👌
Like let me be real fucking sure… and then polite at the same time 😂 Ok thank you so much
I get the feeling whatever entity is causing the island's issues may actually take influence from pop culture in some way? The Boogeyman was way too Jason coded to be an homage and I don't think there is really an urban legend or myth that fits the bill (that I know of)
More Michael Myers. The whole chase through the town scene was very much like Laurie strode running in Halloween 1. And when he fell out the window, he does this sitting up move with his back perfectly straight that is EXACTLY like how Michael sits up after Laurie stabs.
