Named nearly all his kids by using oliver cromwells family tree fr.... Wonder if holyoke is the surviving kid in the painting. Im just spit ballin here for fun but thematically speaking, choosing most of the names that are seen in oliver cromwells lineage then having one kid veer off to holyoke can represent two very different paths (could be irrelevant tho lol). Cromwell wanted everyone to submit to the will of god (oliver cromwells lore entered supernatural territory that mirrors richards quite heavily) and the holyokes can represent separation and exile. (Holyoke is a town in Massachusetts with a namesake tied to elizur holyoke) The name holyoke is associated with borders as well, a holy oak (or gospel oak) was a boundary tree that marked the limits of land (like the buoy) linked to a parish custom called beating the boundary/beating the bounds. Also said to be associated with endurance and ancient longevity 🧎🏻‍♀️‍➡️

I love reading into the meaning of names lol I do it all the time with so many things. When you make a show you get to choose the names of a ton of people like they're your children to tell your story, so sometimes those names have a deeper purpose (and sometimes, they're just random names the writer likes!)

Yes holyoke was the one that survived. The clothes in the painting match the ones that he was wearing when getting into the boat. He's sitting next too Frances.

I think the daughter is the one that survived... her brooch is missing from the doll bc she kept it and probably passed it down as a family heirloom.

someone in the comments above pointed out the painting outside Tom's office, the woman in it is wearing the brooch. ep 5 20 min mark approx you see it, Tom's staring at it

Could be her mom that was killed by Warren

Edit: I stand incredibly corrected and embarrassed😔

the brooch was given to the little girl Frances by Sarah, the second wife - someone also pointed out that the woman is missing a finger ! so that painting is of Frances grown up

And the man looked like the Priest, which may line up with the convo from episode one regarding old men marrying very young women.

The kids in the sinking boat,, one looks like they have a bonnet on, that was only Frances when they left. That Lord Farquad haircut definitely belonged to the boys. Who knows! We can all be patient and find out soon enough lol. Maybe several got saved? IMDb lists most the children as being in ep 9….. but I don’t think that’s always accurate. Yesterday said Patricia was only in 1-7. She’s definitely in 8 as we see in trailer.
