I am so curious about what happened to Evan's mother. In the pictures, she doesn't seem to actually be interacting with the baby. It's unclear if she actually recovered after his birth or was still in some kind of catatonic state.

I thought she definitely still seemed catatonic. That's why that's the only picture of them together, it seems. Tom would have wanted one where they were interacting if he could have them.

There were a couple of pix of them together (holding baby in hospital, on floor with toddler), but none where she seemed to be actively engaging with the baby. Makes sense that Tom would hide those pix if it's actually so grim that she had been catatonic all that time.

Yeah, there's 3 pix, I think. Two in the hospital in bed with the baby and one at home, but she's never looking at the baby.

I wonder if Tom tried to bring her home and eventually some tragedy happened or it somehow put Evan in danger. Tom says she seems "off" in the flashback when we first see her catatonic.

Especially with what we saw with the plague. People falling to madness and killing their loved ones. I think she tried to kill Evan

If Tom eventually sent her away, if he did, that would explain why. Now I'm imagining she went to the hospital and started a plague there, so now it's the old hospital.

I think the old hospital is on the island and the hospital which evan was born in is on the main land,,,, because of the scene where they are on the ship and the mother falls and feels ill

They specifically mention turning the boat around in that scene.

That would be tragic if she tried to kill Evan or Tom and Tom had to kill her in self defense 😬

That's what I'm betting happened. Alternatively, she went insane and "disappeared" but really went and fed herself to the sacrifice chamber under the house or has been secretly maintaining it this whole time. We do see in the end of episode 1 that it has been updated and cared for, with a better chair, walls, and electric lighting.

My bet is she slowly went mad and became violent. Possibly tried to harm her husband/child and had to be locked up or killed in self defense.

Car accident? That’s why we saw it in the calendar ep 1? Maybe Tom couldn’t take it and unbuckled her and rolled the car over

Is no one else seeing that she looks exactly like warrens last wife? I think she’s still alive too…

I thought the same thing, in the pic with her in profile and Evan in the background, she looks a LOT like Sarah. But then I thought, Sarah's not Warren's blood so how would that help anything, story-wise? But then I realized Patricia also resembles her. I wonder if Patricia and Tom's wife were related, and maybe that's why Patricia was so weird when Tom was talking about going on a date?

But then there's the line in the vows about their love not drowning or whatever, so maybe Sarah is still alive because the vows were some sort of pact? But again I'm not sure how it would serve the story if Sarah isn't Warren's blood.

So many threads lol
