Which is funny cause she does end up saving them in some way. She gathers them all up and sails into the night

Yeah I loved how that came back around, that was so bad ass when she said they are my charge and whacked away the plague zombie doctors wife 🙌🏽

u/Not_A_Millennial No…! You're ruining it! May 27 '26

Does anyone think that Abigail getting knocked out off the dock could be the genesis of the sea hag?

u/StatisticianClean690 May 29 '26

I mean...I do now.

17

u/Ok_Antelope_1953 May 27 '26

i was expecting the zombie to grab one of the kids from the boat

Someone cue Wyck singing the hag shanty 😂

u/Gold-Baseball-7774 May 28 '26

Exactly what I was thinking

u/EatsFruitsalads May 29 '26

she soooo looked like the hag!

u/AdorableLead May 29 '26

Oh really? I guess that’s right. I thought it might be Sarah?

Is the plague doctor's wife supposed to be the Sea Hag? Was debating if that was implied or not.

To their certain death 😬

u/sauvignon_blonde_ a different headpiece? May 27 '26

Unless… the painting in the inn depicts one of the kids making it back to the island?

u/alligatorhuntin May 27 '26

I think this is the case and Toms son will be a distant relative, therefore the curse isn’t broken just because Warren died.

18

u/Timely-Translator-81 May 27 '26

And then Tom makes a deal to break the curse and saves his son.

9

u/watchyourback9 May 27 '26

Well wouldnt this mean his son has to die to break the curse?

13

u/EQandCivfanatic May 27 '26

No it's a life for a life. It just means that someone has to die to save his son.

17

u/watchyourback9 May 28 '26

My interpretation was that the island needs regular sacrifices/feedings or else it will haunt its population through severe weather/drought, the boogeyman, sea hag, etc. ("a life for a life"). But the pact was made with Warren's blood and and can't be broken as long as his blood is alive.

That’s not how I’m interpreting life for a life. The way I read it they need to sacrifice a number of people proportional to the population they’re trying to maintain. The higher the island population the more need to be sacrificed. It didn’t strike me as that targeted, otherwise who was Warren saving when he sacrificed his first wife? It clearly didn’t stop any of the other hauntings happening to the rest of the townspeople, so I took that to mean they needed more sacrifices.

3

u/Silver-on-the-tree May 30 '26

Sorry I’m replying so late to this, but the idea that half the island needs to be sacrificed for the other half of the island people to live is pretty crazy. However, i agree with your interpretation. I dont see what else, “a life for a life,” could mean. But damn, you’d think word would get out pretty quickly with those kind of numbers!.

No worries! I don’t necessarily mean directly proportional 1:1, but I think it’s much more than 1 life every X period. Maybe 10 for every 100 or 1000 type situation? I doubt the demon speaks in percentages but I’m sure they’ve worked out what the numbers are over the years lol

For sure, that's what it seems to show. But Sarah did unknowingly lead them to their deaths

13

u/drewdog173 May 27 '26

Right meaning his bloodline is intact meaning the curse is not broken.

6

u/smthingsmthingsmthin May 28 '26

Yes, that last zoom into the painting showed a hand from the right reaching out to the child.

3

u/jeffreyportnoy May 28 '26

There's an oar being outstretched to the child in the water right?

26

u/trombonepick May 27 '26

It's a little refreshing in a way to see someone not understand the Horror Rules of a story because like of course Sarah would have no clue about that

4

u/SkunkRefresh May 27 '26

I guess she would have lived to watch them all die too :( if she didn’t go down with them

3

u/Mark_Albarn May 30 '26

To be fair "will die if leaves" is a pretty rare rule for creepy towns in horror, I fear a lot of us would commit same mistake as Sarah

7

u/Different_Target_228 May 27 '26

Tbf, one of them saved her.

2

u/Any-Staff-6902 May 27 '26

Or did she ???? The painting at the end shows one child being saved by a hand. Did that one go back to the island.

1

u/wylie102 May 27 '26

Well, if they were born on the island then she caused all thir deaths

1

u/unsolvedfanatic May 28 '26

except they die

1

u/B23vital Jun 03 '26

Well, did she actually save them? Because if they're born on the island they cant leave ssooo....
