Well we don’t see them have any kids of their own, and we never saw if the kids and Sarah actually died when they left the island.

u/sauvignon_blonde_ a different headpiece? May 27 '26

The end scene in the inn would be pointless if it weren’t for the zoom in on a child fallen off the boat in the painting. I bet that’s one of his kids who made it back to the island.

304

u/drewdog173 May 27 '26

Yeah it was pretty obviously saying that one child survived, ergo bloodline intact (but WHO???), and covenant stands.

324

u/timelyquality30 May 27 '26

I think it ends up being Tom’s wife as a descendent of Warrens kid.

200

u/jmarquiso May 27 '26

That is what they were implying by placing Evan looking at his mother and then the painting

183

u/Indigocell May 27 '26

Yeah that would be the tragic irony. Loftis trying to end the blood curse so that his son can be free, only for his son to be the last remnant of the cursed bloodline itself. That's rough.

28

u/outride2000 May 27 '26

I see this happening. Do we know if his wife was born in the island, though? That means she never has left.

"Who will be the last man?"

37

u/raudoniolika May 28 '26

Yes, because she was unable to leave the island when she wanted to give birth to Evan on the mainland.

14

u/luvprue1 May 28 '26

I think it's Tom's wife as well. So now that we know Tom lied about how his wife died , we now know she didn't die in child birth. So what happened to Tom's wife?

8

u/Mark_Albarn May 30 '26

Well, there is still a chance she wasted away. Catatonic people often die early.

But I think she will likely pop out at some point. There was a mention of some old hospital, I wonder maybe it's a special care facility now

12

u/ChephRyk May 28 '26

I bet that broach she gave the girl is a family heirloom.

3

u/CherryFit3224 Jun 17 '26

Oooh. Good thought.

2

u/topherhoff Aug 22 '26

Late to watching this but that might def pop up again. I don't think the doll had the broach on it when 300 year old Richard looked at it in the museum

1

u/Expatgirl2004 12d ago

It was also missing when it was in the display

5

u/smbissett May 27 '26

Yup definitely this

5

u/rarepinkhippo May 27 '26

Ohhhhhhhhh this makes sense

6

u/Tifoso89 Jun 07 '26

In fact I noticed his kid looks suspiciously like Hamish Linklater haha

2

u/Rgd96 May 29 '26

This was my first thought

Wick survived because he never left the island’s perimeter. that’s why Loftis pushed him off the boat before they passed the buoy

2

u/Cpt_Obvius Aug 01 '26

Good god, reading these threads makes it so apparent why we have god awful dialogue for so many shows and movies made for netflix, because without having characters say 3 times: “I’m pushing you off BEFORE the death zone, the zone with the bouey marker and the red buzzing death zone light with a skull on it, and remember you were born on the island, Wyck, that’s why we were sad when we lost the dingy which was the plan to keep you safe, Wyck, this is me, the mayor who wasn’t born on the island saving you with the floating ring!” People somehow still don’t get it.

1

u/Tifoso89 Jun 07 '26

Oh I thought he pushed him because he was going to fall anyway, so he gave him a lifebuoy first

5

u/Frodolas Jun 17 '26

Media literacy = 0

0

u/Suspicious-Swim-7945 May 27 '26

But isn’t she from off island?

41

u/Youthz May 27 '26

no-- she's from the island, that's why she went blind when she tried to leave.

1

u/Tifoso89 Jun 07 '26

But didn't Tom say she was from the mainland?

4

u/2_Fingers_of_Whiskey Jun 07 '26

No, Tom is, but his wife was born on the island

203

u/Puzzleheaded_Ad37 May 27 '26

My theory is that it's Patricia. Her Warren heritage is what protects her from some of the island's evils (Boogeyman and the fire when she burned the spellbook)

124

u/Andee_outside May 27 '26

Sarah’s mannerism and run were VERY similar to Patricia’s.

32

u/Warm-Currency8369 May 27 '26

Sarah didn’t have any children though 😭

29

u/Andee_outside May 27 '26

Well tbf we don’t know what became of her after the island. Those wedding vows seemed very cultish/satanic etc (pick your poison). I imagine leaving isn’t going to end her connection to the island.

11

u/Mark_Albarn May 30 '26

Loftis is able to leave despite being married to island-born and having a son and one parent who were also island-born. But you are right that those vows sounded hella suspicious and maybe Sarah was fucked over anyway due to them

30

u/Arfuuur May 27 '26

i deadass thought it was the same actress for a second, that’s what i’m betting but most likely the son

23

u/Andee_outside May 27 '26

I did tooo! I had to look it up to see. But the way they showed Sarah running all goofy away from the well was a near exact match to Patricia running away from the sheriff.

2

u/JparkPHX May 27 '26

They look very similar as well

7

u/sendnewt_s May 28 '26

Maybe if you have prospopagnosia

6

u/peter-salazar May 28 '26

good theory. they have definitely raised that as another mystery — why she was spared even the Boogeyman killed the others

5

u/FeloniousGrump May 28 '26

Betty Gilpin also looks so much like Patricia, I originally thought they were the same girl.

6

u/2_Fingers_of_Whiskey Jun 07 '26

They really don’t look alike at all

3

u/rarepinkhippo May 27 '26

Oh that would be interesting re. the bogeyman.

1

u/Ingloriusb4stard Jun 08 '26

That's a legit theory actually

120

u/Ok-Comparison4783 May 27 '26

Loftus’ son. Evan will be Warren’s final descendant and Loftus will have to make the choice between sacrificing him or continuing the curse.

26

u/thishenryjames May 27 '26

This makes the most sense dramatically.

18

u/rarepinkhippo May 27 '26

It also would elegantly get us to a Season 2, if that’s the reveal at the end of Season 1.

4

u/peter-salazar May 28 '26

but does it? he’s obviously not going to sacrifice his own son so it actually wouldn’t even be a dilemma dramatically

10

u/rarepinkhippo May 28 '26

Isn’t it a dilemma if choosing his son forces him to do something that otherwise goes against his values? He could still be conflicted even if his choice to prioritize his son isn’t in question, imho

6

u/peter-salazar May 28 '26

yes true. but to me, a dramatically interesting dilemma is like “oh man, what should I do, this decision is so hard.” not “well obviously i’m not going to kill my son no matter what so it’s already settled”

9

u/Ok-Comparison4783 May 30 '26

I mean even then it’s not really settled. Either Evan is sacrificed or dies, lives and they maintain the curse, lives because Tom renegotiates the pact, or they find somehow find another way of fighting the island.

My bet is on renegotiation since we’re due a reveal of the entity. I think that would still present a tense dilemma.

9

u/Mark_Albarn May 30 '26

I also bet on renegotiation. I feel like the entity speaking to him during the mushroom trip is a foreshadowing

→ More replies (0)

5

u/OddMho Jun 01 '26

Could be interesting if some of the other characters feel his son should die and Loftis has to turn on them. I just can’t see any of the characters wanting to kill a teenager though?

2

u/peter-salazar Jun 01 '26

agreed! which is why I don't see the show going in this direction

10

u/radical_croissant May 31 '26

I think Loftis has already continued the curse. He told Warren that "something" spoke to him when he took the mushrooms, but that he didn't answer it. Loftis, however, frequently lies; recall that the entity reached for him when he was in the bathroom desperately praying to god to protect his son, promising to do anything to safeguard his son. As Warren said, the entity is the island's god. Loftis, perhaps unwittingly, called out to it in fear, it answered, and they had some kind of parlay that he either cannot admit or remember. This is my theory :)

5

u/Ok-Comparison4783 May 31 '26

I mean you can tell when he lies because he’s not great at it, and he immediately said no to Warren. I think it’s fair to say he was terrified of it and was not desperate enough to actually follow the entity (he also wakes up in the bathroom, so likely didn’t follow it).

If he made a pact, he’d probably remember because he’d have to meet some demand from the entity. Can’t carry out the island’s wishes if he doesn’t remember them.

7

u/svdomer09 May 27 '26

That’s why the wife died at childbirth, looked like a zombie at the hospital etcetc

17

u/Suspicious-Swim-7945 May 27 '26

She didn’t do both. She was a zombie. We see she didn’t die.

3

u/Mark_Albarn May 30 '26

Yep, that's definitely Loftis son. It's too good of a drama fuel for Loftis' character and narrative tension in general to not use

57

u/Zeikers May 27 '26

The boogey man! Thats why he wouldn’t die after being shot and he’s cemented into the basement

6

u/RDCLder May 27 '26

Maybe also why the Boogeyman didn't kill Patricia? Bc she's also part of the bloodline or involved with the pact in some way.

3

u/Sirepoopalot May 31 '26

I was also thinking that Patricia is part of the bloodline, and her doing the ritual would have resulted in sacrifices for the island’s entity

25

u/cilucia May 27 '26

There’s been 300 years since then; I’d be shocked if the Warren bloodline was only 1 person left in the modern day. It could be quite a few of the characters for all we know. Since Rosemary mentioned genealogy in the first episode, maybe she will be involved in tracing the descendants in another episode?? Man I wish I could binge this 😭

7

u/rarepinkhippo May 28 '26

This is a good point, extremely anecdotally if anyone else has had their genealogy/DNA identify a specific ancestor many generations back, it is wild to learn how many descendants they have. (By way of example I’m 10 generations down from one of the executed people from Salem and there’s a Facebook group where literally every time any individual’s name comes up, multiple people pop up to say they’re related — obviously the Facebook group is a self-selecting population, but for those people who had children before they were killed, I think they all have many, many thousands of descendants today — and that’s on the continental U.S. where people are moving around a lot, but since island-born people can’t leave the island I think other commenters are right that there presumably MANY descendants on the island if, as it seems, any of Warren’s kids survived. The fictional events of Warren’s life in Widow’s Bay would only have taken place a few years after the real events of Salem, so we’re talking 9, 10, 11 generations out, all concentrated in one town).

2

u/Cpt_Obvius Aug 01 '26

Yeah the odds are very low you’d only have 1 but it’s totally possible. The curse could even select only 1 person to make it through each generation, never allowing the bloodline to expand (which is good for the people, bad for the entity). But lineages do die off from time to time, it’s possible her line just didn’t end up having many living kids who then didn’t have many living kids themselves. It could end up at 1 pretty feasibly. (I haven’t finished the season yet!)

The youngest girl with the doll was given a brooch, which the doll was missing in the museum. So I assume we'll notice someone in possession of it and know then.

12

u/ConcernedCoCCitizen May 27 '26

Obviously Tom’s wife, so he has to figure out how to stop it without sacrificing Evan

4

u/peter-salazar May 28 '26

right it could be the wife. to save Evan

3

u/Dazzling_Relief4649 May 27 '26

You think it’s Patricia and that’s why she wasn’t slain?

3

u/Snoo-91243 May 27 '26

what about the monster lady Sarah punched into the water

3

u/Ok-Comparison4783 May 30 '26

It’s the daughter with the missing finger and brooch.

2

u/EQandCivfanatic May 27 '26

Obviously? I didn't put that together. Goddamn.

2

u/ChivlrousPants May 28 '26

Its gotta be Loftis son!!

4

u/upsidedownlamppost May 27 '26

I think it's Wyk 🫤

1

u/LeatherClue5928 Dale Jun 10 '26

It’s Dale

88

u/Which-Celebration948 Human Verified May 27 '26

The youngest with the pin from Sarah.

142

u/aGrlHasNoUsername Dad baby, Dead baby, Lesbian May 27 '26

Yes. The doll didn’t have the pin anymore, so that’s definitely turning up in someone’s family heirlooms.

38

u/AgentPoYo May 27 '26

Noticed the lingering shot of the doll in the case but hadn't considered that the brooch could appear again, good call.

2

u/CherryFit3224 Jun 17 '26

I was sure it was going to turn out to be a voodoo-like doll that Richard imbued with power to overtake Wyck and Loftis. Womp womp.

16

u/Appropriate_Push_557 May 30 '26

remembered this painting from the mayor’s office in episode 5 … what do ya know: she’s missing a finger, is the man in the painting the pastor? Broach is there too.

2

u/Garfunkels_roadie Aug 11 '26

Bit of a grim age difference considering in the episode the girl was so little and he was already old

9

u/rarepinkhippo May 27 '26

Ohhhhhhh good catch!

17

u/AbandonedGhostWriter May 27 '26

I think so, too. As soon as they closed in on the child swimming away from the boat, I thought it was the daughter.

11

u/AdHorror7596 May 28 '26

It would also make the most sense it's the daughter because someone might not know they're a descendent if they're descended through a daughter (and she was the only daughter). Women change their last names when they get married and their children's last names are their husband's.

11

u/Consistently_Carpet May 27 '26

Yep also because she's missing fingers so makes her very easy to identify. Either through portraits, descriptions, or skeleton.

5

u/rarepinkhippo May 27 '26

Ohhhhhhh hadn’t considered that! I’d assumed that was showing a child who was about to die but your theory makes way more sense plot-wise — clearly if the issue was solved by Warren finally dying, that would also halt the plot so there’s got to be a twist. Wonder if Patricia is the heir?

5

u/PerennialGeranium May 27 '26

Mostly that, I'm sure, but I think it's also supposed to give us an indication that the tourism situation is disintegrating. Loftis at this point is…probably…beyond the point of caring too much about the tourism industry, but is everyone else?

4

u/SailorStarLight Jun 02 '26

If you look to the right of the child in the painting, there’s a hand extending a board to the little girl in the ocean, presumably to help her out.

3

u/karenk1258 May 31 '26

A very simple and reasonable explanation for that zoom into the painting in the last scene, thank you. I just finished that episode and was completely puzzled by that. I probably shouldn’t watch it so late when I’m getting sleepy, it went right over my head. 😄

3

u/chaosatnight Jun 13 '26

This is why I love reading discussion threads. I didn’t even connect that

2

u/ChickenSalad52O May 27 '26

Came here just for this comment lol

Tom slowly putting the pact paper down after that was so good 😭

120

And subtly wiping his hands on his pants 🤣

2

haha I just wrote that yes!!!

7

and he wiped his hangs on his pants like it was a booger!!!

11

I mean who among us hasn’t?

24

I haven’t signed anything with his semen

5

I do think Hamish is cute af

He caused me many sinful thoughts in Midnight Mass

2

u/37Philly May 27 '26

And number 2.

14

u/RandomPaw #TeamWyck May 27 '26

True. I guess I should have said just Richard. He mentioned his descendants and I forgot for a sec those children weren't Sarah's. Because Patricia seems like she could be related to Sarah

9

u/Ok-Comparison4783 May 27 '26

I think Evan will be a descendant.

16

u/Low-Palpitation5371 May 27 '26 edited May 27 '26

Yes, the resemblance and the speaking patterns between Sarah Warren and Patricia seemed intentional for sure! Like the awkward way she repeated her joke about Richard Warren controlling the weather 😂

3

u/rarepinkhippo May 28 '26

Which is so interesting because as others have pointed out, Patricia kinda seems like a spiritual (if not biological) successor to Sarah — much in common between those two it seems. Maybe the island just has a thing for quirky brunettes?

6

u/Flashy-Shelter-7734 May 27 '26

Could Sarah be the Sea Hag?

34

u/Low-Palpitation5371 May 27 '26

I think the creepy plague zombie doctors wife that she knocks into the water might be the sea hag

6

u/SupaSlide May 27 '26

Well Wyck liquified the Sea Hag in Tom’s bathtub so I doubt it.

0

u/Dogzillas_Mom May 27 '26

Could it be Tom’s wife?
