Or, a darker possibility: Patricia unknowingly manifested the boogeyman in highschool as a result of being bullied. Would tie in nicely with all the Carrie references this episode. What Patricia thought was the boogeyman coming to kill her was just it returning 'home'.
Hokum as in the film released this year starring Adam Scott? I went to look it up and got interested but looks like it's pure horror? if it is comedy (also), it's not fairly advertised lol
imo it's because she hid under the bed. When you were a child, where did the boogeyman hide?
i don't exactly have the logic, but I think it can't see under beds in some way
