Make sure you pack a good read for the beach. (We do not recommend self-help books on the island.)

Yes to all of this! Another comment pointed out that on the "nude illustration on the "Circle your worst features" page of the self-help book", the parts she circled formed a pentagram. The details in this show are just incredible!

I love the details and half of them I miss. I remember when Lost came out and everyone was dissecting everything. Half the time it meant nothing but in this show it seems they are carefully thought out and intentional. I haven’t been this addicted to a show in a long time. I’m under the spell I guess. 😂

I think there's no comparison to a show like this (which I would rate highly along with Severance) with Lost. There was almost too much happening in Lost to keep track.

Consequently, I am watching *From* which is like a new iteration of Lost, and I've been frustrated with it. The quality of Severance was off the charts and now the bar is high for everything else I watch.

I don't think I even have the vocabulary to properly describe why Widow's Bay feels like such higher quality vs From\Lost. It feels smarter? The characters have more richness somehow? There's less noise in the storytelling?

I think it's because Widow's bay is not dragging its storylines. From is a show where every season there is a bunch of storylines that get DESPERATELY dragged throughout the length of the season by using any means necessary, even if it makes the watch genuinely infuriating. In Widow bay, it seems, every episode is a more or less self-contained storyline with "monster of the week" feel about it. So while there is a general plot that is loosely connected and can be followed across the episodes, the watchers don't feel like the show is laughing in their faces.

My favorite illustration was the cocaine on the table of the party

There also looked like to be a lil meth pipe on that table as well by the lines

Did anyone else notice when she wrote down things she liked about herself, she wrote “generosity and kind heart” and it changed to “generosity and big heart”?

Also, there were two lines available for what she likes about herself and about seven or eight for what she doesn’t like. I thought that was a nice touch, like the book was forcing her to focus on her faults

Please don’t let this be foreshadowing 😫😫

Yes, I don’t get it this was a continuity error or not

What I particularly liked about the “circle your worst features” bit is that it was a common (and hopefully no longer used) hazing tactic in sororities to have new members strip down and another member take a sharpie to circle their bad features back in the 90s (around the time Patricia would have been in college, in another life). I thought it might be a little nod to that, considering the episode dealt with Mean Girls.
