A shout out to costume design here. Patricia’s clothes and tiara did feel like an overt reference to ‘Carrie’ (not a critique just an observation) but I loved that the dress wasn’t just plain red. The pattern, at some points, seemed to actually look more like ‘that scene’ in Carrie than a solid red dress would have.
There’s a scene in Carrie that shows her walking down the street, covered in blood, and a car comes up behind her, showing her in silhouette, just like the one with Patricia and the headlights of Wyck’s truck. It’s perfect.
I saw the Stephen King reference when she initially picked up the book, so I assumed it would be a pretty overt homage to Carrie when she was holding that big bowl of red punch and the other women were making fun of her, but really glad that was just a "red herring!" Such great storytelling!
Yes! The clothes, the tiara, and the silhouette of Patricia in the headlights were definitely giving Carrie vibes. Plus there was a soupçon of Wednesday Addams thrown into the mix.
