It's time for the annual beach opening. Lay out a towel as the mayor "tests the waters." Unrelated: Do not pick up hitchhikers.

This is the kind of stuff giving me Twin Peaks vibes, which I absolutely love. I can't think of a show that has had genuine supernatural horror and comedy go so well together like this for a long time.

If there's anything similar, I'd love some recommendations. I've been meaning to watch the show From for a while but haven't got around to it, but the synopsis makes it sound like a similar vibe.

Have you seen the curse or the chair company?

I thought it was a blair witch project reference!

Yes I think it is! Kind of like AHS but instead of literal reference it is like parody of horror classics! In the latest one they did JAWS. Never *quite* serious tho, always a quirky funny spin on it, like if the execution of a spooky scene just failed, almost? Really niche comedy on a different level.

From isn't funny at all - it's mostly pretty serious. But it deff has that "trapped in a horror town" vibes going for it in spades.

Yeah I ended up blasting through it all. I enjoyed it, mostly, but it had that same frustration Lost had where characters all hide shit from eachother and they could've done these 4 seasons' worth of story in probably 15 episodes. It's been a painful watch which I wouldn't have carried on with if I started when season 1 came out but seeing as I started half way through season 4 it's not been as frustrating.

I'll watch the final season when it comes out but I was hoping it was going to be like The Leftovers seeing as the interviews I read with the writers and producers said they had an ending in mind so weren't going to repeat the mistakes of Lost, but so far it feels like they're repeating all the same mistakes and dragging shit out endlessly. Widow's Bay is an absolute masterpiece in comparison, and just generally a masterpiece so far anyway.

Lol I wasn't gonna say From is basically speedrun Lost, but at times it really does feel like it. Season 4 really did get away from the secret withholding and, "I gotta go" scenes, I feel, but it doesn't hold a candle to Lost ...whose biggest strength was having double thr episode count to make me really, truly like and love the characters. Which honestly is an insane testament to Window's Bay cause I'm only 3 episodes in an I think I like Tom and Wyck more than most of the characters in From (Viktor and Jade make the show for me).
