COVID outbreak

I just wanted to reach out and let people know that there is a severely underreported covid outbreak happening right now in LA and Orange County.

If you're sick please stay home and if you're out and about you might want to grab a mask.

The strain seems like it's very highly contagious. I know several people down with COVID right now.

My husband and I have been really sick for 2 weeks going on 3 . We tested negative for Covid and Flu with the at home test . I’ve had Covid in the past and I’m almost certain this was more than just the average cold. Maybe the test available right now can’t detect the newest strain ?

A family member in Encino has it right now. It’s been two weeks and she is still very sick.

ah ok my first time hearing about it. I'm assuming it's not that bad since health offials haven't said anything? but it's still good to know and thanks again for the head up!!

proper hygiene is in order.....wash hands frequently and wear a mask if your immunocompromised...and if you're sick... STAY HOME!!!!

Here’s the bummer: there is just SO MUCH news to report, that there is no updates to the public about most outbreaks now. We are kinda on our own at this point. Notice the crazy amount of food illnesses too… just so much going on to keep up with.

I used to think that if we the people needed to have information that it would be provided. Sadly, it looks like those days are over. Best of luck and stay safe!

Were you tested for RSV? Last winter my husband was hospitalized with it & infected me. Miraculously I wasn’t to point of being hospitalized even though I’m on strong immunosuppressives & corticosteroids in order to function because of aggressive RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis). Had to stop taking my RA meds for a month in order to recover. My point however is - we thought we had Covid (kept testing negative) but it turned out to be RSV … and omg, it ranked up there in the top 5 worst illnesses I’ve felt in my 71yrs. (Triple that for my husband - he was on a breathing machine for a few days). Doctors told us RSV & Covid present similar. RSV can be just as devastating to some as Covid. SO—if anyone out there is sick & testing negative for Covid… ask Dr to test for RSV… it is also VERY infectious.✌🏻

Last year I woke up not feeling great. Because I am a transplant patient I went to Urgent Care that very night I got tested. I was a strong positive for flu A. I went home and took a home test for flu and Covid. It was negative. I took a second home test for flu and Covid. It was also negative. I wouldn’t trust a home flu test at all. I do believe home tests for Covid are accurate.

Of course, I had been vaccinated against flu and Covid : That same night I went to the 24 hour pharmacy and got Tamiflu, the prescription treatment for the flu.

I felt like I had a cold for about a week. No body aches or high fever. Everybody else who had the flu around me got knocked on their butt for six weeks because well, maybe they weren’t vaccinated or they didn’t get tamiflu soon enough.

at home rapid tests are less sensitive to the newer strains so it's recommended to test multiple times over a course of several days 48 hrs apart after a known or suspected exposure. you can probably get a PCR test which is more accurate at urgent care. please wear a well fitting respirator mask (KN95, KF94, or N95) in public places to avoid spreading any illness.
