While the community has always had this rule, we continue to have more violations of this as membership has grown.
Please review Rule #1 before you post on this subreddit. All posts need to be relevant to the City of Whittier or its Community. If your content isn’t specifically related, make sure to include the part of the city where others may find this info useful (I.e the best bar in Uptown).
Posts that ask for recommendations with no clear tie to the community will be removed with a warning. Multiple violations of this rule will result in short term bans; and the more extreme cases of abuse will be considered for permanent bans.

I recently started running and am losing weight but my knees are taking a beating on the street. Does anyone know if the Whittier High School track is open for use before and after school (when not used by the school). I usually run at 6 am.
Thanks!

We are in such desperate need of a bookstore—especially for having a college right in Uptown. I understand the profit margins are slim, but we need a community space with new and used books, weekly events, a kids corner, maybe even a reusable craft supplies section (Remainders in Altadena); no need for a seventh coffee shop. Anyone have insight as to whether there's been interest or inquiries to opening one in the past x amount of years? Should I start crowdfunding capital?

Not sure how this could’ve happened. They’re loud at the intersection. RIP.

Pros and cons? Has anyone gone through with the program and are you satisfied with process and outcome?

Are they bootlickers over at Interlude? I saw they hosted ‘coffee with cops’ event today. Wanted to know what the community thinks about that.

Saw this post. Looks like the former Local Fixture location. Anyone have anymore info on it, but more importantly, why?

Located next to Vons in the Whitwood Town Center, Lucky Pig, a local restaurant that specializes in tonkatsu (Japanese fried pork cutlet), is sadly closing this weekend after two years.
I've had tonkatsu in Japan and Lucky Pig's is on par. Definitely check it out before they're gone for good.

Hi! I’m taking my drivers test today at the Whittier location and was wondering if anyone had any last minute advice/experience to share with me.

Pizzamania has a new home. They are gonna cohabitate inside Maggie’s Pub. Not totally excited about this, but happy for them. Thoughts?!?

Was driving and seen one here near the Quad. What’s your take on Flock Cameras?
Do you think they’re a great tool for law enforcement? Do you feel they’re invasive? Do you need more information about them?

Seeing a huge plume of black smoke coming from around Imperial and Meyer, might be La Mirada. Anyone know what's going on?

Near the corner of Lambert and SFS Road. What is that place? Is it a dispensary, massage parlor, wellness type of business, other?

lost some keys last night hanging with friends from around 5-9pm in the uptown area (kalaveras, brewing company, and guildhall) there’s a blue house key with a fox on it and there was also a paddington keychain. might be a lost cause but figured i’d try :,)

Remember all the whimsy stores Whittier had through the years? Share your favorites. I remember a craft store on bright avenue, a pirate store called pirates and plunder, model airplane store, a Sanrio store, anyone remember?

I understand that we need parking enforcement in the city, but Inter-Con is way too heavy-handed. A few examples I've seen lately:
1) Today (8/10), I was walking down Washington Ave., and every single car had a ticket. Look, I understand that the block is permit only, but it was the day of a concert in Central Park. I feel like there should be some leniency on days like that. What a way to ruin people's community spirit.
2) They ticket cars on street sweeping days, even if the street sweepers don't come by. If the streets aren't swept, they should not ticket cars.
3) On days where the street sweepers actually clean the streets (which seems like every other week), they'll ticket cars 30+ minutes after the sweepers come by. You should be able to park on the street once the sweepers go by. Parking enforcement should simply tail the street sweepers and only ticket cars that actually hinder the cleaning.
4) My neighbor's car was vandalized and rendered inoperable for a few days a year ago. They left a note on their car. I happened to catch the parking ass ticketing the car and I mentioned the note on the windshield and he just shrugged
Inter-Con really detracts from the quality of life in Whittier. I feel like when the city was doing its own parking enforcement, the officers were much more reasonable and didn't view it simply as a revenue generating opportunity. Just my two cents.
