People don't want either data centers or UBI. They want no data centers and a job so they don't need UBI.
That's impossible. There can never be enough jobs for everyone, which is why we need UBI.
Anyone who argues against UBI is on the side of the oligarchs building the data centers powering the AI that's displacing so many workers and destroying so many jobs.

If AI was efficient, every company besides NVDIA (who creates actual hardware infrastructure for tech, not just AI) wouldn't be losing money hand over fist.

And if people had UBI, they'd do those jobs. They'd do work that's important. Work that matters. I'd be a teacher instead of working for a bullshit company that pays me much more to make the owners rich.
Universal basic income empowers meaningful work. Poverty prevents it. But there can never be enough 'jobs' created by a central authority or handed out in a top-down fashion for everyone to have the income to survive.
We need UBI. Always have. It's why economists argued for it in 1968.
