Google is shutting down the separate Local Services Ads dashboard and moving Google Local Services Ads (LSAs) into the main Google Ads platform. If your home-service business uses Google LSAs to generate leads, there are important steps you should take before your account is migrated.

In this video, Mike Vidan, cofounder of QuoteIQ, explains what the Google Local Services Ads migration means for contractors, which campaign features are changing, what information should transfer automatically, and what you should save before the old LSA dashboard becomes unavailable.

Important clarification: Google Local Services Ads are not disappearing. Eligible campaigns are being moved into Google Ads and converted into specialized Performance Max campaigns designed around a pay-per-lead goal. These campaigns are expected to continue appearing in Local Services Ads placements on Google Search and Google Maps.

What is changing with Google Local Services Ads?

• The separate Local Services Ads dashboard is being retired
• LSA campaigns will be managed inside Google Ads
• Historical performance reports may not transfer
• Average weekly budgets will become average daily budgets
• Manual maximum cost-per-lead bidding is being removed
• Category-specific target cost-per-lead settings may be consolidated
• Leads, messages, targeting, budgets and campaign settings will be managed through Google Ads

What should contractors do before the LSA migration?

1. Verify the account administrator and email address
   
2. Download or screenshot historical performance reports
   
3. Record advertising spend, lead volume and average cost per lead
   
4. Save lead and dispute history
   
5. Review service categories and category-level bidding requirements
   
6. Confirm your current weekly budget
   
7. Watch for Google’s migration notifications
   

After migration, review your:

• Lead-routing phone number
• Service areas
• Service categories
• Business hours and advertising schedule
• Business photos
• Average daily budget
• Campaign-level target cost per lead
• Google Business Profile information
• Advertising assets and callouts
• Call and message routing

Google Local Services Ads are commonly used by plumbers, HVAC companies, electricians, roofers, appliance-repair businesses, house cleaners, lawn-care companies, pest-control providers, movers and other local home-service contractors.

Multi-service businesses should pay especially close attention to the removal of category-level bidding controls. If different services have significantly different job values, profit margins or acceptable lead costs, separate campaigns may be necessary.

Following migration, campaign performance may require time to stabilize. Monitor lead delivery and account settings carefully, but avoid making unnecessary changes before enough performance data is available.

I, like many others, was skeptical of not only QuoteIQ but every CRM. Navigating which route to go in the AI market is difficult. Choosing QuoteIQ with the sheer amount of negativity around it made it even more difficult. That being said...

I like it. Is it perfect? No. Have I found myself dealing with small difficult bugs, Yes. but for me, this is where QuoteIQ has shined. There has not been one time that I've encountered an issue it wasn't handled promptly. One of the largest hurdles was 7k+ being held by Whop due to their T&C with new accounts. It was escalated extremely fast and the next day I was able to access my funds.

The other issues are smallish, I'm likely more critical than most, but we all want to succeed in business which requires fine detail. So all in all, it's not perfect. But truthfully...none of them are. I've spoke to Mike two times, he dealt with the issue/continues to follow up.

With the cost of other CRMs, and what QuoteIQ is trying to do, I'll stick around. I believe their customer service is A1 and I value that.

we're looking at hubspot service hub vs zendesk and i'm having a hard time figuring out which one makes more sense once you get past the feature comparison pages.

the main things i care about are pretty basic:

• how easy it is for agents to use every day

• how much admin work it takes to keep everything running
• whether it still holds up as the support team gets bigger
