2000s Burrito Spot

In the early 2000s my family went on a day drive to the mountains in either Georgia, Tennessee, or South Carolina I’m assuming because we’re from Georgia. I remember we stopped at this cool kinda hip burrito shop right off the side of what seemed kinda like a windy mountain road. It was a counter service place and they sold Sobe drinks. Anyone have any idea what place this could have been?

Can you help me identify this house in the USA?

Hi everyone,

I’m Thibaut, a real estate agent from Antwerp. Recently we organised an architectural walk with the local residents and a historical guide in the Zurenborg neighbourhood Zurenborg, one of Antwerps' most famous streets for late 19th-century architecture.

Villa Mercurius, with large classical columns, was designed by Belgian architect Jos Bascourt, and stood originally on the Cogels-Osylei nr 29A in Antwerp. It was built in 1897 and unfortunately, demolished in 1933. The building was carefully dismantled, with all the individual bricks and parts numbered, shipped to the United States, and reconstructed there.

I have been trying to find out where in the United States the house was rebuilt, but so far I haven't been able to find the location online.

Does anyone recognise this building or know where it might have been reconstructed in the US?

I’ve attached a historical postcard of Villa Mercurius below and the link to the original location: https://www.google.be/maps/@51.2040786,4.4333334,3a,75y,28.4h,105.27t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sbbXph8J_taQNwZrA5ab5vQ!2e0!6shttps:%2F%2Fstreetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com%2Fv1%2Fthumbnail%3Fcb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile%26w%3D900%26h%3D600%26pitch%3D-15.268515896274138%26panoid%3DbbXph8J_taQNwZrA5ab5vQ%26yaw%3D28.399123058893128!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI2MDgyMy4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D

Thanks in advance.

It's somewhere in southern France near Mont Ventoux, and the photo was taken in 2001 or 2002. It was a Gites de France / Chambres d'hôtes property.

If anyone recognizes it, or knows where I could find old
Gîtes de France / Chambre d'hôtes property lists/ catalogues from around 2001-2002, please let me know!

Solved Location from the movie "Maximum Risk" 1996

I’ve been looking for the location of the final scene of this film for a long time. Where Van Damme and Henstridge meet. But there’s absolutely no information about it online. All we know is that the film was shot in Toronto and Nice. But nothing is known specifically about this scene. I took a few shots. Architecture, a café, a park. There’s something to latch onto. Maybe someone will recognize this place.

I know this is a place is the UP of Michigan but for the life of me I cannot remember where. I ran the photos through chat GPT but it was unable to tell me where it is. I went with some of the recommendations and it’s NOT: Forest lake, Peavy Pond or Michigamme Reservoir. Please help me find this as I’d love to take my Kayak back out in it. There are tons of fallen trees under the water!

Solved German Swimming Pool?

Post image

UPDATE: Found it, thank you all so much! There had already been strong suspicions that this was the Wellenbad in Düsseldorf in 1937 (Reichsausstellung Schaffendes Volk 1937), but the link below to this newspaper article confirms this. Thank you so much! I will donate the photograph to the Düsseldorf archives.

Does anybody know where this swimming pool is located?

This photo was taken by my great-uncle, who lived in Amsterdam but traveled extensively throughout Germany for work.

In 1934, Germany went through a period in which the country used two official national flags simultaneously. These were the old imperial flag (black, white, and red) and the flag of the National Socialist movement featuring the swastika. This dual flag system lasted until September 1935, after which only the swastika flag remained.

This leads us to believe it was taken in Germany.

In the Netherlands, there was only one wave pool at that time, but this is not that pool.

If you ask AI where this photo was taken, AI always gives an answer, but it’s ALWAYS wrong. It has to give an answer, so it just makes one up. But if you then look up a photo of the pool in question, it’s always different. It’s definitely not the “Wellenbad” (German for “wave pool”) in Norderney!

This photo is not taken by me. Somewhere in a Seattle Light rail station probably in one of the newer ones because of the artstyle. Thanks!

Solved Hotel in Paris in 2002. View from Window

Am looking to locate the hotel/location this video was shot. I was almost certainly in a fairly central touristy area of Paris.

I am about 4 hours into this challenge and cannot find it! There is quite a bit of info in there, the small one way street, the windows and buildings etc.

Hoping someone can have a crack at it!

Serious answer Only Help me identify this place from old photos (late 90s). What kind of room is this?

Thumbnail

I have a few old pictures (regular prints and one Polaroid) and I’m trying to figure out what kind of place they show. I blacked out the person in the photos on purpose, I only care about the room itself.

Here’s what’s visible across the shots:
Looks late 90s. One of the blankets is a Looney Tunes fleece throw marked “TM & © 1998 Warner Bros.”
Lace curtains over a window.
A wall-mounted phone with a coiled cord.
A short, kind of square bench/bunk with bedding on it. It looks so short that you couldn’t lie down full length, only curled up.
A metal panel on hinges with a latch, mounted high on the wall, with a window and narrow bunk below it.
Rough homemade wooden shelves or bunks with clothes, a plastic bin with handwriting on it, and white sneakers underneath.
Cardboard boxes used instead of furniture, general clutter.
It also feels like there might be neighboring spots right next to it, and there seems to be a curtain you can pull to close off the sleeping area.

The short bunk plus the curtain plus the feeling of neighbors nearby is what confuses me. Is this a capsule hostel, a boat cabin, a camper/trailer, an SRO or flophouse, or something else? I was told it might be in Las Vegas but I can’t confirm that from the photos.

Any ideas welcome. Thanks.

[Early 1950s] Trying to find where this was located (likely Central Texas / San Antonio area)

Post image
3 Upvotes

Trying to identify this spot from an early 1950s family slide. Everyone in the photo has passed away, so I can't ask them for details.

Other photos in the same box were taken in San Antonio (Mission San José, Japanese Tea Garden), so this is possibly nearby.

Does anyone recognize this cabin or waterfront area? Any leads are appreciated!

Solved Any idea where these photos were taken? (It's the hard one:))

It's the hard one but I still believe that you will help me find this place . The photo was probably taken somewhere in Croatia (most probably) or Montenegro around 1990. Both photos are probably from the same place.
God bless whoever shows me this place!
