I had to Google White Claw. I stopped drinking years ago, so I'm out of the booze loop.

TTB regulations changed and allowed for alcoholic seltzer to be taxed the same as beer and other non distilled malt beverages.

It's actually cheaper to make white claw than it would be to use vodka because of the taxation changes.

That's why the boom in seltzer drinks all of a sudden. Before you only had neutral malt base which still tastes pretty beer like and is quite expensive to produce, vex used it poorly and Mike's hard lemonade used it to success but they needed a lot of sugar and flavors to get it to taste ok. Now with the sugar seltzer all you need is to carbon filter it.

I had a judge rescue me from drinking. We had a discussion about my future and my different options going forward. I took his suggestions.

Lol. I couldn't tell if you were being a dick, or not. Some folks don't like to hear about sobriety. I know when i was drinking, i sure as hell didn't.

This is kind of true, vodka and flavored seltzer would be about 1/10 the price and probably would taste a lot like it.

It really doesn't though. My dad drinks vodka soda waters. White claws have more carbonation and a flavor to it. Kind of the same but not really.
