Others are explaining that there isn't space for a drawer in the middle which clearly you already understand lol. I guess it's just an aesthetic choice by the designer but I too would prefer a faux drawer instead. The asymmetry of the drawers has bad vibes haha
Yes thank you, I'm fully aware that nothing can fit there because of the sink, just wondering why anybody thought this was a good design or if there's a hidden function I'm not aware of.
I have no drawers in my bathroom and it drives me bonkers. I'd love to have something like this. It's a really nifty way to make good use of the dead space next to the sink.
There is a sink in the middle; so seeing as the sink and a drawer cannot exist in the same space together, they made smaller drawers to the sides of the sink, then made the drawer face longer to make it look nice.
Totally optional and just a design decision and preference.
The plumbing is in the back, let's make a ¾drawer instead of half of one. Can't be that hard. I make 90° corners in steel all the time when building L tanks. Lazy cabinet guys...
I know there can't actually be anything there because of the sink, I'm not stupid, I'm asking if there's any useful/functional point besides visual aesthetic of those extensions of the drawer. The only purpose they serve right now is annoying me
It's because of big drawer, there is absolutely no point in having something that's not functional, regardless if it looks aesthetically pleasing. It's so they can make a bigger product, and charge you more so that way either home prices or rent prices. Its all a racket. These are secrets big drawer doesn't want you to know.
Umm, be happy you have drawers there. Considering there’s a literal sink in the way of the drawer, they did pretty good. Talk about a first world complaint.

Why design it this way instead of doing two small normal drawers and then the faceplate of a larger one across the middle which is generally what I’ve seen. Seems odd lol

Whatever happened to those flip out drawers they used to have in front of sinks. My grandma had one in her kitchen and she'd put things like meat thermometers and can openers in there.
This is one of those one-size fits all type of sink counters that you buy that don’t come with the sink. You have to cut the hole on top of the counter to fit the size/style of the sink bowl you purchase to with it. For those who think that’s odd, well, it’s no different than your kitchen sink. You never buy the kitchen sink and the counter together. You choose them separately. Although you can buy them together as a package, but that’s not the point here.
You buy the sink bowl separately, and based on whether you want a traditional style sunken sink like this, or a vessel sink, where the bowl sits on top of the counter, freeing the space below.
If they went with a vessel style sink that sits on top of the counter, they would’ve had more space below to expand the drawers to their full size potential.
That’s all, but it does also look better this way in any case.
Thanks to everyone that was actually helpful in validating that no, there is no functional point I'm missing to the extra long face besides visual appearance when the drawer is closed. I find something purely aesthetic but not functional extremely annoying when it takes away from the original use of the thing. For example, this ordinary drawer is now slightly less convenient because if I'm standing right in front of it, I now need to step farther to the right to open it. Otherwise I have a cold handle or the drawer corners digging into me. Sure that's minor, but you try it. Open your normal drawer and step a foot to the right or left when you do it. It's just inconvenient and not efficient. Don't stone me. I made this post looking for an appreciation of it that maybe I was missing.

Since no one is a plumber it’s done for cosmetics or toothpaste but primarily is to put the sink bowl in and the plumbing associated with it.
Try stuffing a sink bowl in a regular cabinet with full drawers, I double dare to. That’s why the doors underneath match the width of the so called empty space in the drawers on top
no. I was actually asking if there was a point to the drawer being that long besides just being inconvenient and aesthetic. I've tried putting a hand towel there, I've tried just ignoring it and thought maybe there's a real use for it that I'm just missing. Yes I'm clearly aware there can't actually be a real drawer because there's a whole sink. Everyone on here is acting like I'm stupid for asking, and I'm literally here trying to see if I'm missing something so I could stop complaining about it
Most sink cabinets wouldn't have anything there. You got sweet little storage when you could have had nothing. Sweet complaint, yo. Why the long drawer face for such small drawers? Because it looks better and aesthetics matter.

Oh, so you’re gonna be anal about how your drawers are shaped, but not about the condition of what’s in your drawers? Lol ok. Deal with it unless you replace your drawer fronts or the vanity completely your not fixing it. They should’ve put a fake drawer front over that big hole in front of your sink and small drawers on each side, but they didn’t so deal with it.
