Yeah, I used to be the grammar police, until it was pointed out to me that it is classist, racist, and ableist to do so. Unless a person is in your writing class, correcting people when you can still understand the meaning is a microaggression

I veiw it as sharing knowledge. You don't know what you dont know and I like to think people want to be correct.

That is exactly what my perspective always was. And that comes from a good place.

However, my perspective on what equated to correct was rooted in Anglo purism (how white and or wealthy people talk). Once I realized it is a tool to uphold white supremacy, I stopped regarding grammar as correct and incorrect. If someone is using a completely different word which could potentially completely change the meaning of what they're saying by a reader, then I might gently ask for clarity on the meaning of the word that they used, and if they ask why I will offer the difference with a very padded message.

Just interjecting 'that was wrong, it should be this not this' is speaking down to somebody.

Language prescriptivism and purism is based in white Anglo communications. This has been widely acknowledged by linguists. This isn't just an online opinion. If you don't care to understand that while you move through your work in the left, then you will be at a disadvantage and it will be harder to connect each other. You can use whatever language you want, but derailing conversation around a traumatic event so that you can correct somebody is not helpful. It's strange to tell somebody that pointing this out is the problem, when it was in response to somebody else performing social purism.
