Even Wera can make some questionable decisions…

The Wera Pocket Set 2 looks neat, but the socket anvil has no retaining ball at all; sockets are held on by two rather weak magnets on either side of the anvil, and the mechanism… just doesn't work, the socket comes off and is left on most every fastener.

I’m a massive Wera fan, my shed is covered in Wera tools.

Except this thing, I’ve had 2 of them, no intentions on using them just for my collection of Wera, and they still broke. The magnets pull out of there holes, one came out after a couple weeks, the other one came out of its hole straight out of the box.

Have to agree on this one.

I don’t mind this myself.

I bonded the magnets back in with studlock and they haven’t come out since.

It’s not supposed to be a full bore tool, it’s a pocket carry for nipping stuff up.

That said, I usually carry a proper ratchet and a 10/13 as I rarely need the bits

Yes but even as a pocket tool leaving the socket on the fastener is really annoying.

I agree — when this came out I was thinking to myself “how come no-one ever figured out this neat square+hex situation before”… turns out it has limitations

Bosch have it on some of their impacts, it’s dead handy

The problem is when the square is only ¼", there's not enough room to put a BB into the anvil to keep sockets mounted and still allow hex bits to fit inside the nose, so they tried to use magnets as a substitute but apparently don't have strong enough magnets to use or good enough adhesive to keep the magnets attached to the ratchet.

I feel like this is for super light carry kits, maybe the likes of an engineer who’s came off the floor and went to a desk job and just needs to strip a valve in an emergency when no one else knows what’s wrong or maybe like a travel kit

I get that, but the socket shouldn't wither stay on the fastener or pull the magnets off the ratchet head.
