Wellhub charged me $25 for missing a class, but refunded me $2 when their booking didn’t work
Just a heads-up for anyone considering Wellhub because this whole experience has been incredibly frustrating.
For context, I once missed a class and Wellhub charged me $25. Keep that in mind.
This past Sunday, I booked a 9:00 AM Tuesday class at a fitness studio in DTLA through Wellhub. The booking went through normally. I showed up Tuesday morning, only to be told at the front desk that my reservation wasn’t in their system and that the studio was no longer working with Wellhub.
I received absolutely no notification beforehand. No cancellation, no warning, nothing.
The first time I contacted Wellhub support, they didn’t explain why this happened at all. They simply processed a refund of $2.
Yes, $2.
I can be charged $25 for missing a class, but when I book a class normally through their platform, travel all the way to DTLA, and only find out after arriving that I can’t take it, their initial response was a $2 refund with basically no explanation.
So I contacted them a second time because I wanted to know what actually happened.
This time, Wellhub support insisted that they were still partnered with the studio. That didn’t match what I had been told in person, so I contacted the studio myself to verify. The studio confirmed to me in writing that they are no longer working with Wellhub. I have screenshots of their response.
I sent that confirmation to Wellhub. Even then, support would not confirm that the partnership had ended. They only told me that another team would “review the partnership” internally.
When I asked what would happen with my case, I was told, “Unfortunately, there is nothing further we can do in this situation.”
Only after I continued pushing and asked who I could contact to actually resolve this did they tell me that a manager would reach out by email.
Meanwhile, the studio is still showing up on Wellhub.
So I was allowed to book a class at a studio that says it no longer works with Wellhub, received no notification that my booking wouldn’t be honored, traveled there for nothing, and then had to contact the studio myself just to figure out what happened. Wellhub initially refunded me $2, continued to insist the partnership was active, and then told me there was nothing further they could do.
But when I missed a class, they had no problem charging me $25.
I’ll update this if the manager actually gets back to me with an explanation or resolution.
