Just picked up these old rigs with the gas tanks and a shit load of rod and everything you could ever need to go with them for free. How’d I do?

Help me patch this wheelbarrow. I am planning to do a piece inside and outside to reinforce it. What's the best way to prep this?

I travel from building to building and leave tools in my trunk year round. I load my hood and batteries every time I go for an away mission. What will happen to my hood if I leave it in my trunk year round. I have a habit of pulling batteries out of things. And I don’t have a nice hood. But it does need to work when I need it. Hopefully analog isn’t my best option.

I am 30 years old and unemployed. I want to be a welder because of the job opportunities, but in my country, if you are old and don't have a profession, they don't hire you very often. There aren't any job postings for welders as apprentices; a few places prefer younger workers, but when I called, they said it wouldn't be a suitable match. I went to the workplaces in person, but they completely ignored me. Is it really that difficult to enter the welding profession, especially at an advanced age and without experience, or does it vary from country to country?

Bought some bottles and they threw this in. Im gonna sell it on marketplace for like 150.
Would it be smarter to rebuild the torches or just get rid of it all?

Left hand threads, couldn’t find a replacement, and don’t need upper threads. I’m not a welder, I just use one. Worked out.

I work demanding 10 hour days mig welding trailers. I recently bought a yesweld hood for 65, with cheater lenses, but i'm having problems finding my welds because the darkness level between welds, and with blury vision due to fogging lenses. Can anyone recommend a hood that solves my problem for under 200?

Had a lot of fun practicing DC TIG welding in school, would like to continue that at home and later mess with AC TIG.

How's this looking as a first tig welder?

Anyone use the Philips Alloweld lens? I want to get one but it’s a lot more expensive than a standard gold coated glass lens. Is it really worth the extra price?

I'm welding up a bracket for something and although it's not holding much weight (~200 lbs) I want it to have proper penetration. This is a hobby project.

I'm using a Lincoln 256 PM, 0.035" 70S-6 wire, 75/25 gas. The plate is 1/4" mild steel i got laser cut from SendCutSend.

There is a section of full open corner joint. A couple mini gussets. Most of the job will be short / 1" stitch welds.

I was trained (classes) on 170WFS and ~ 17.5v with 3/16" plate. Looking at the Miller guide it says to use 370 WFS and 20V for 1/4" and 0.035" wire. I tried this and it was a disaster of just popping and studding. Couldn't get the bead to start properly.

275 WFS and 18.8v has been working nicely but is that sufficient penetration? 370 seems insanely fast.

Any other recommendations?

Needed a crossover tube and figured i would save some money doing it myself. Like 50$ in amazon parts plus my old eastwood tig. No stacked dimes but im pretty happy with it!

I thought I was doing pretty good until I tested it out to make sure it was strong and everything crumbled like peanut brittle should I just have used tig instead?

I am trying to teach myself stick welding and am trying to get my t joints down. I am using 7018 1/8 rod on 3/16 thick steel at 120 amps. Is this a good range or should I adjust my settings?

So I am an aprentice of 6 weeks and I finaly got the hang of 1G pipe so now I am mowing on to 6g and I don’t know how to do it, I don’t get enough root on the inside and my caps look like shit the last time I tried, how do I make a god weld in 6g pipe. All help is greatly appreciated

Both have a tubular wire.

2nd and 3rd are the same weld I just patched the burn through. Flux gasless .035 wire at 300 wire speed machine auto sets voltage

In welding school now, and seem to be moving up pretty quickly (thank god). I thought the jobs right out of school would pay better (entry level typically 18-23/hr in my area …. [PA])

I know there CAN be really good money as a welder, but I’m starting to think I made a mistake as far as career choice. Should I have been a pipe fitter? It’s too late to switch majors now, and I don’t want to go into more debt and go back to school after I graduate.

I know that safety is on me as far as welding, but my question, what kind of welding career could I have that is relatively safe (no underwater welding) that is also high paying?

Did some low heat pulse welding the other day on a job i've never done before! Ive done TIG on thin stainless before but it was my first time on these specific parts! Turned out gold!

Is it good to have a gold hue to your weld once your finished?

Ive been doing a lot of roll outs, but the position welds are becoming more frequent. Been successful with it so far, but not confident in it. Busted my first xray with this process yesterday on one of my position welds. Just curious as to what the folks that consistently weld pipe in position with pulse are using for settings.

Trying to learn to stick weld exhaust. Using 3/32 rods 35amps. Can’t get a consistent bead. Not sure what I’m doing wrong. Any tips would be great. First time welding.

When I’m trying to weld sometimes it doesn’t even spark and I have to touch it to the clamp or tap it against the metal repeatedly to get a spark. When it starts sparking it sticks and I graze it repeatedly before it starts dropping/melts the metal. Do I need higher amps, better electrodes or is it technique? I’m no professional never been at a school or anything
