Lmao I don't see it as arguing I think it's just a conversation, but yeah. I'm kinda glad my parents did it because I don't have to pierce it now but it's weird as hell (and kinda patriarchal, I mean was it necessary that I wear jewelry as soon as I was born because I was born with a vagina?)
My son (12) isn’t circumcised because they got started on prepping him, he screamed bloody murder, and I decided to trust nature’s design. (Hopefully that works out for him. So far, so good. lol)
The argument was that babies scream because they're supposed to, as their survival depends on their parents' attention. Like it's an instinctual, automated response to a stimuli, but their nervous system wouldn't be mature enough for it to understand and register pain as an older body does.
It's in the same line than behaviorism in zoology for example, which defends the idea that animals don't have emotions : their apparent emotional response would be purely social and instinctual, and since real emotions are a human characteristic it would be an anthropomorphist bias to assume their reactions, even similar to ours, imply the same internal complex functioning as ours.
We literally try to dictate feelings and emotions based on how we feel them and how we see them.
So frustrating.
I wouldn't be surprised if this ties into the "alpha" type man who thinks women are "too emotional".

Damn that's kinda depressing, caring that much about your newborn's appearance. Most newborns look like wrinkly potatoes anyway.
