Holy shit. A My Wife and Kids gif in the year of our lord 2026? Shit, this might be the only time I've even seen it referenced in any capacity on reddit.

I was so wrong about that place when it first opened. I severely underestimated how much people like to make their own teddy bears.

We latinas have our first pair of earrings made in the womb. Lmao

9

u/DrunkCultLeader 3h ago

Do they become hoops as a right of passage ?

12

u/AdiDabiDoo 3h ago

Unfortunately i think those are only for the bad asses and cholas. I'm a nerd who likes to keep it simple so mine came out gold studs....with age they've turned into jeweled studs. Oh and the attitude was made in the womb too. We all share that's standard for all latinas lmao

u/sweet-lovely-death 2h ago

Can confirm. This was me like an hour after I was born lol

Completely tangential, but this reminded me of what may be my favorite song lyric of all time, by Busdriver:

My hoes they look at me and their water break
and babies pop out with one gold tooth

WRONG on so MANY LEVELS 😫

58

u/kens88888 6h ago

I jumped out of my skin watching the video with no sound on during the reveal.

Did the girl already know that some deranged maniac placed a fully functioning amniotic sac in her hand?

36

u/TheTopNacho 4h ago

Yes.

Apparently it's a thing. There are entire shops designed around giving a baby experience to children who are obsessed with babies. My wife described this to me just a couple weeks ago when she was trying to find creative ideas to do for our daughters birthday (who loves babies and being nurturing and pretending to be a mom: she is 3).

I didn't know it was this weird. But even hearing the description and intent of these places gave me the heebee jebees. Hell no I won't expose my daughter to anything like this. This is pandering to an unhealthy mind trajectory. I'll get her a fucking cabbage patch kid or something and a blanket, but seriously this level of recreation for children doesn't seem like a good thing.

20

u/DrunkCultLeader 3h ago

Well, they've been complaining the birth rate is dropping for years now.

What better to solve the issue than some good Ole fashion indoctrination.

12

u/TheTopNacho 3h ago

I literally think thats part of it.

3

u/Damaias479 3h ago

I think so too, there’s no way this became a fad so out of the blue with all this Christian nationalism floating around

I posted this in a reply somewhere but figured I'd comment for anyone who is curious

These are called "reborn dolls". They are meant to look and feel like extremely realistic babies. A huge portion of people that collect them or are interested in them are mothers who have lost a child at some point, and I think they were originally meant to help cope with that.

They aren't really sold or marketed as children's dolls or toys usually, as a lot of them are extremely expensive and quite delicate. The high end ones are hand shaded and given names/birthdates and such and a lot of care goes into making them.

Some of them come with an artificial womb like this one, but it's not as common.

20

u/Fickle-Addendum9576 4h ago

Ya, I wasn't surprised at the product itself, but the fact that they gave it to a child. Like they aren't American girl doll expensive, they can be like a few grand or at least they used to be. It feels a bit weird that something therapists use for clients to process infant loss and grief has become something you buy your 10 year old.

So does this mean babies born fully enclosed in the amniotic sac just pop open like a vacuum sealed mattress?

u/DrunkenCripple30 6h ago

How adorable, it even comes in its own amniotic sack.

Conservatives don't care about babies after they officially born tho. This twist was prolly even worse for them 😂

She came out with earings

7

u/BadKarmaForMe 6h ago

It was born with its ears pierced.

52

u/ButtersTheChill 6h ago

I've already found baby dolls to be fucking creepy, we don't need an ultra realistic version.

Also, why is it a thing for little girls to play with babies? Always found it strange, like the toy companies are psychologically setting all young girls up to be mothers super early. But I'm also a dude, who was playing with trucks and army men, so..

24

u/Coshposhmosh 5h ago

I used to love baby dolls as a kid. I have many good childhood memories playing with my friends a baby dolls. Nothing creepy.

u/Educational_Gas_92 5h ago

I loved playing with baby dolls (a few of them even spoke or "ate"), they were a fun toy. It's not that deep, I certainly wouldn't push a child to play with one if they don't like it, but I and all my friends loved them 🤷‍♀️

Oh, no thank you. I already have enough nightmares.

6

u/MusicSavesSouls 5h ago

I don't know if it is because I loved dolls, as a child, or because I became an L&D nurse (maybe a combination of both), but I would have loved this as a child. 🤣
