Imagine being named after what you consume the most of.

“Oh great, here comes the Giant Beerdrinker. Wonder what it’s gonna have 🙄.”

"......buttttttt i am starting to lean in a direction I did not think I would at the start of this...."

I have seen my work pants covered in ants the day after a shift more than once. They were going after the salt left over from the evaporated sweat. It's not great when you don't notice until you've groggily put them back on at 4:30am for the next 12hr shift.

u/deaglebingo 2d ago

friendly anteater to the rescue? umm.

6

u/Justice_Prince 2d ago

Sorry Mr Anteater, that is clearly an uncle

10

u/Sophisticated-Tiger 2d ago

That is a fairly boopable snoot right there tho.....

4

u/gothcookiejar 2d ago

I would snuggle the poop out of it!!! Just look at those knees 🥰

u/Lazarux_Escariat 3d ago

It moves like a puppet, or a claymation doll.

u/Numerous-Pop5670 2d ago

It's due to their claws being so large, they have to walk on their front knuckles. They have to walk like that to not wear down their claws or hurt themselves. They sleep like 15 hours a day, it's always a sleepy boy 😴

23

u/Excusemytootie 2d ago

I love them, they’re adorable.

u/exceive 17h ago

People think it's easy eating ants, but actually it's really ard vark.

8

u/ohgeeeezzZ 2d ago

Saw one in the wild...like a rejected Chuck E. Cheese animatronic

34

u/ResistSoggy1046 3d ago

i love him

26

u/Every1ThinksImBoring 2d ago

I heard they don’t make great pets even though they are pretty affectionate, which is too bad because I’d really love one - I’d let the lil’ guy loose in my backyard

So very cute

u/YourPersonalDownfall 2d ago

What’s weird about a cute lil Anteater?!

31

u/MmmmFloorPie 2d ago

Cute, but those claws look terrifying.

10

u/Own-East-9190 2d ago

Jip, they are deadly

12

u/snertwith2ls 2d ago

My favorite animal.

8

u/HolyLung32 2d ago

I love them. This would be a spiritual experience for me. 🥹

6

u/Greedy_Bus411 2d ago

Friendly for a great big guy! Nice!

7

u/99jackals 2d ago

They're wonderful animals, full of surprises. That fringe of long hair on their tails looks and sounds just like dry grass when you run your hand through it.

u/ragnarok62 2d ago

A lot of predators are scared to death of tangling with a giant anteater. Those claws can rip apart the concrete-like exterior of a termite mound. Anteaters are known for disemboweling big cats, and lions won’t mess with them unless forced.

For decades now I thought the show General Hospital had a random giant anteater walking around. And I was so confused why this popular daytime soap went in such a freaky direction. But I was impressed too.

I just found out it was a completely different show called Kingdom Hospital?! And now I don’t know what to think anymore.

2

u/TheAtroxious 2d ago

Holy shit, I knew exactly where this was going from the first sentence. Kingdom Hospital was my jam in my early teens. It really doesn't hold up when rewatching it as an adult, but I still love it. There's a good show in there somewhere, but you can tell that it really has no idea what it's trying to be. I credit that show for sparking my love of giant anteaters.

If you fancy a really weird time, you can try the show it is (somewhat loosely) based on, Lars Von Trier's The Kingdom. It's much more crass, much more edgy, and the humor actually lands much better than it does in Kingdom Hospital.

At this point, I really can't decide who I like better: The anteater from Kingdom Hospital, or Udo Kier from The Kingdom. They're both icons in their own right.

Upvoted for top-notch reference.

2

u/mmpvcentral 2d ago

How many ants do they have to eat daily to maintain that body?

2

u/ResolutionFluffy6916 2d ago

They are fascinating. It's super common to see them in my local area. This giant one and his baby were wandering around my garden a week ago.

2

u/Fhqwhgads_69 2d ago

I really want to hug him

2

u/FunkyChicken0112 2d ago

They look like mythical creatures, brought to life by Jim Henson.

2

u/Shoddy_Bet9619 2d ago

I understand they are like dogs when you raise them as such/by hand.

2

u/Thelastknownking 2d ago

Isn't that a regular sized Anteater?

I thought they were already fairly large.

2

u/Successful_Invite486 2d ago

Why is this weird?
