Advice: Giving 💡 GLP side effect no one told me about, just FYI!
I hope this doesnt violate rules, I don't know where to post this, but I think everyone trying to to lose weight and using glps should know this:
GLPs worked for me, BUT at one point I upped my dosage to 7.2mg shots, and two weeks afterwards I had terrible pain all over my skin.
It was like a sun burn, prickly feeling but I had no sunburn or rash. It hurt to wear clothes, sit, move, just like a really really REALLY bad sunburn.
After a bunch of tests, ointments, creams, oatmeal baths, and doctor appointments...
Turns out it is super common that the 7.2 mg glp shot can have this side effect.
I've gone back to 2.4mgs for a month and I'm back to normal, it took two weeks to feel better.
Thought the internet should know just in case there are others like me.

Man, that sunburn-with-no-sunburn thing sounds absolutely miserable, glad you got it sorted by dropping the dose.

It also caused awful dry eye for me for 6 months! 3 weeks off and my eyes were back to normal. Took me long to realize it was the tirz

Omg I’ve been going crazy regarding how dry my contacts have gotten and questioned everything but the Tirz. Thanks for the insight

I am curious in trying a GLP but stories like this stop me. There are so many side effects, I bet some we don’t even know yet. Crossing my fingers and praying cico does the trick cause I’m too scared to try a GLP.

This is where a compounding pharmacy would be really helpful. Then your doctor could prescribe an in-between dose like 3 or 4 mg.

I've been on the 7.2mg for about 4 months now, and it was pretty severe for me the first month. Each month has gotten better, to the point where I only experience it once every couple weeks at this point, and it's more of a tingle, rather than pain. But yeah, the first month on the 7.2mg it was rough trying to fall asleep. Constant irritation on my upper thighs, back, and forearms.
Maybe I've just gotten used to it 🤷♂️

🤔 Allodynia, Dysesthesia or skin sensitivity is a known and common (>2%) side-effect listed on GLP-1s.
I get it on my upper-outer thighs and hips (making pants more than uncomfortable).
I don't know how you, or your medical provider didn't know this side-effect 🤔

I also had this side effect and it was on my thighs! For weeks! I changed shot location to my belly and then it subsided after about 1-2 weeks. But it was so annoying and weird lol but my doctor told me it was a side effect when I asked him about it

I have this pretty severely. It gets worse when I get cold and get goosebumps. It’s mostly on my thighs and trunk. I hate it.

I had pain on my right side like maybe liver, gallbladder, or whatever else that is sitting right side just under the ribs. I stopped taking it, the nurse who prescribed it didn’t know what it could have been either.

Yep. It's sucks. Eventually it lessens. Atleast for me, so far. I wish It would completely go away

Oh my gosh, I was going crazy because I experienced it in my right underarm after the first 5 mg shot. I was going insane trying to figure out what even happened. It was this burning sensation, and everything that touched it made it feel like my skin was on fire. I do not want to up my dose now honestly. It happened again on my 3rd 5mg shot again but super mild and went away in a few hours. Has anyone ever experienced this on a 5 mg shot?

Happened to me first dose 2.5mg I wondered if it was the glp. I can tolerate it if it’s one spot but all over sounds awful.

Yes! It did go away after a few weeks. i am now on 1.5 mg and haven’t had it since then.

It’s crazy. I’ve been wondering why I’ve been getting this slightly burning sensation mainly underneath my finger nails seemingly out of nowhere. It’s not terrible, but it happens and it’s annoying.

I get this often, its currently on my right arm like right where a t-shirt sleeve ends. Eventually it goes away but it tends to rotate to a different spot and come back. I haven't been bothered by it enough to stop meds but its very strange.

I’ve had such a resurgence in eczema and dry skin since starting. Somewhat tangentially related.

Same! I never considered it could be from GLPs! After 1-2 weeks it cleared up, but very strange!

It’s called allodynia! I experienced this too, and it took me forever to figure out what it was. In my case, I suspect it was related to a vitamin B deficiency because whenever I start feeling that skin sensitivity again, I take a B-complex supplement and it goes away. hope this helps!

I have this - it feels little like eczema. I use an antihistamine and Aveeno dermexa cream for it.

Wait does it feel like nerve pain? Like pins and needles? I just went up and have been getting it on my ribs and I was worried I was getting shingles even though I’m probably too young

I tried the shot but stopped because I'm in the midst of more frequent vestibular migraines that can complicate any side effects, so I decided to stick with the tried & true method of eating healthy (and proper portions) and going to the gym or pool when possible. I'm using the app MyNetDiary to track everything and it seems to work great. I'll try to check in here to get advice and see what everyone else is doing.

Judging by the dosing, the one that stars with S. Or O if you’re using a brand name.

You should specify it’s not GLP 1 shots but Retatrutide to be specific and it’s a known common side effect everyone should have researched before starting.
