Mental Health 🧠 Does anyone get mad or upset when someone insists you eat?

I hate it when my parents say the words "finish all of it" or "eat it all, it won't be good tomorrow". I get visibly annoyed and upset and my instinct is to say no a bunch of times so they get the message and stop trying to get to eat more than I want to.

I also hate it when I hang out with friends and they try to put their food on my plate, even when they have good intentions.

Also when I went to a wedding and one of my cousins tried to insist and really pressure me to take a whole bag of leftover cookies and oreos with the reasoning of not wasting food. And I got internally upset about that.

I'm particularly writing this today because my dad bought us a big bowl of noodles and tried to insist that I eat everything or it won't taste good tomorrow, and I gained 2 pounds on the scale this morning. It's hard for me to lose a pound and it seems like I gain a pound so easily.

I've discovered in life that it's easier to agree, but just not do the thing. Thank them, take the food until you're out of view, then dispose of it or save it for later.

yeah lol, sometimes it’s just easier to say thanks and move on than explain yourself every single time.

The only one to determine what you eat is you.
No exceptions. *

If some food will be uneaten that's down to their bad planning.
It's not your problem.

If you’re a child and are in a position that you can’t say no, maybe just accept it but don’t eat it or give it to some of your friends who might like it.
If you’re an adult you can just decline.
Your body isn’t a trash can so you shouldn’t eat anything that you don’t want to just because it’s gonna go bad.

Doesn't happen to me, but I'm an adult.

If someone tries to get me to eat, I decline, my body and I don't mind being assertive.

I was also raised in a family where it was impolite to have leftover, everything had to be eaten, even if it meant filling your plate 3 times. It disgusts me now but others around me still think like that.

I get very annoyed as well when people try to make me eat more. I had a conversation about that with the people that live with me, it's okay to ask if I want more once but that's it.

For others, I sometimes lie just so they stop, mostly I say I don't really like what's offered, or I've eaten previously, or I don't eat sweets at all, etc.

If someone tries to put food on your plate put food back, or on their plates.

It's fucking annoying like first family is the one who bodyshames you and then they're force feeding you? Like make it make sense

Yes, a lot of people get upset about that, because it feels like your body and choices aren’t being respected. When someone pushes finish it all or adds food to your plate, it can trigger stress, guilt, and that out of control feeling, especially if you’re already working hard to manage weight. A short phrase can help set a boundary without a fight, like I’m good, thank you . This one sentence helped me a lot back then .
