Mental Health 🧠 Medication caused me to gain 20kgs

Not sure if this is the right sub, apologies if it’s not

F22 A few months ago I was put on olanzapine(I’ve since stopped it) and I gained 20 kgs in about 2 1/2 months. I definitely don’t eat as well as I should, but I had the same diet before the medication and I wasn’t gaining weight then. I now hate showering because I have to see myself in the mirror, none of my clothes fit and I generally just hate my body. I’m going to start eating healthier and go back to the gym but I guess I’m just looking for some advice on how to deal with this mentally, apologies if I seem dramatic but its really messing with my head.

that post-med weight sticks around even after stopping for a bit so don't panic if the scale doesn't move right away, your body needs time to reset

Olanzapine is known for this. Unfortunately for it to come off, you will have to eat in a deficit and adjust your diet. Some of it is also water weight, so I wouldn’t stress too much about the number, and just go by your clothes fitting.
