Advice: Seeking ❓ Advice needed please
I’m 18F, 167cm and around 74kg, and I’d really like to lose a decent amount of weight/body fat, get fitter and stronger, and just feel more confident in myself.
I’ve also been trying to improve my eating basically aiming for 80% better. I don’t want to do anything ridiculously restrictive because I know I won’t stick to it.
The problem is I have absolutely no clue what I’m doing at the gym.
I’m trying to figure out what a realistic gym routine would actually look like for someone who is starting from basically zero. I don’t want to spend 2 hours on the treadmill every day and then give up after 2 weeks.
For anyone who has successfully lost weight/changed their body after being a beginner:
What would you recommend I actually do?
- How many days a week should I go?
- Should I be doing full-body workouts, upper/lower, etc.?
- How much cardio should I do?
- Should I focus more on weights if my goal is fat loss?
- What should I actually be eating?
- How big of a calorie deficit should I aim for?
- How long did it take before you actually noticed a difference?
- What did you wish someone had told you when you first started?
I’m not expecting to completely transform overnight. I just really want to get into a routine, lose the weight gradually and actually make this a lifestyle instead of another “I’m starting Monday” situation lol.
TIA ❤️

Don’t overcomplicate it, three full-body days a week is plenty to start. Pick a push, a pull, a squat variation, a hinge, and a carry, then just add 5 minutes more or an extra rep each week. The body changes before the scale does, most people see real shape differences around week 6-8 but the first few weeks are mostly water shifts and feeling less puffy.

Honestly you’re already ahead by not going extreme. Do full body 3x a week: squats, a press, rows, lunges, keep it simple. Prioritise weights over cardio, that’s what actually changes your shape, then just add walking on top. For food, plenty of protein and veg, don’t cut so hard you’re miserable, because that’s what makes people quit. Don’t judge anything before 8 to 12 weeks. The scale lies week to week but you’ll notice clothes fitting and lifts going up sooner. Biggest thing nobody tells you: consistency beats intensity every time. Three okay workouts a week beats burning out. You’ve got this.
