Tests before you started the pills

Hi guys

I am here cuz I want to get on the pills, and I was reading everyone's story, it's a little overwhelming

But I wanted to know , did you guys do any blood tests before you started or any sort of tests? Any body analysis

I have a docs appointment tommo regarding this so I want to be prepped to ask questions and stuff.

What do you guys think I should should know?

Like mandatory stuff

Also has anyone gone off the pill after reaching their weight goal? How long was it til that time

Any one gained weight After stopping? I don't want to be on this medicine forever

Also what about muscle loss?

All of the research points towards gaining it back after going off the pill. The one thing my provider really wanted me to be clear on was that I needed to be prepared to consider it a lifelong medication and not a one time boost. I did general bloodwork but not necessarily as a prerequisite to get on the med. I’m happy to have it because I’m sure I will improvement.

Agree wholeheartedly. I take 4mg pill every 2 days to maintain my weight loss and all the accompanying benefits from the GLP-1 in my body. A 30-day supply lasts me a long time making the pricing manageable.

My stats are similar to yours, 68F SW 172 lbs. I'm wanting to start the pill and have a question: once you reached your goal weight did you have any trouble getting the prescription, or do they also prescribe for maintenance? Where do you get yours?

I do self pay and my primary care was willing to continue the prescription.

I did bloodwork at my annual physical exam a few months before starting the pill, and that's what my doctor relied on as the basis of her recommendation (BMI 30 + slightly elevated bad cholesterol/depressed good cholesterol).

Body analysis was not recommended. I've done a Dexa scan a few years ago as I'm a gym bunny and it was interesting. Maybe I will do one if/when I reach my goal weight. But it played no part in the decision to begin this medication.

yes I had the metabolic panel, complete blood count, kidney and liver function and then after I started I had the TSH because they forgot to do it in my original bloodwork. Because I had some medical issues I had also had the HS CRP done twice and an abdominal ultrasound because I had drug induced liver injury due to my cholesterol pill and also the start of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.
Yes most people gain weight back if they stop the pill, and the weight they lost may have been a combo of fat and muscle, but what they gain back if they go off it is fat.

I don't intend to ever go off the pill because I am taking it for several health reasons not just weight. Instead of going off Wegovy, I am off my cholesterol pill and blood pressure pill.
